Qantas passenger lashes out at business class meal claiming it's a joke - but not everyone agrees
The traveller had booked a seat on the QF 35 flight departing Melbourne at 12.05pm last month when they were served up what they said was a disappointing meal.
Sharing a picture of their lunch on Reddit, the passenger wrote: 'Qantas business class is actually a joke.'
The vegetarian dish was labelled pan fried parmesan polenta with braised greens, wild mushroom ragout and salsa verde.
However, the business class passenger felt the meal wasn't up to their standards.
'Midday flight from Melbourne to Singapore, and this was the business class lunch on offer,' they wrote.
'Premium cabin, budget vibes. And if you're in the last row, don't bother choosing — most of the menu's already run out.'
The passenger also noted the 'vegetables were salty as hell'.
Qantas promises international business class passengers can enjoy 'a contemporary selection of locally sourced dishes with a focus on choice'.
The airline's website states menus may include options such as 'red wine braised beef short rib with potato puree, green beans, balsamic glazed eschallots and salsa verde, or Humpty Doo barramundi with ginger, chilli, snake beans and jasmine rice'.
Some Qantas travellers agreed with the negative review, with one stating 'you don't fly Qantas for the food'.
Another remarked: 'Looks like something out of my compost bin.'
However, the business passenger's complaint sparked a backlash from others, with one accusing them of 'throwing a tantrum'.
'I always find it amusing when grown adults with the capacity to fly business class throw a tantrum about how vegetables look,' they commented.
'As usual, no description of the dish, the alternatives, the issues or how you attempted to address this on the flight. Literally just 'EWWW THE VEGETABLES ARE GREEN!''
The original business class passenger hit back and said their complaint was 'not about how vegetables look in general' but how the airline had presented the dish.
They argued their meal looked as if they had 'raided a buffet blindfolded'.
Meanwhile, another customer said they had the same dish the week before and branded it 'very tasty'.
But, they did conceded their dish looked 'a lot more appetising'.

Passenger on Devon sea safari paralysed after ‘kamikaze seat' accident
A passenger on a sea safari tour in Devon was left paralysed after being thrown from a 'kamikaze' seat on a rigid inflatable boat that slammed into a high wave. The tourist was sitting on a 'jockey' seat at the front of the Lundy Explorer RIB when the accident happened in June 2023. The seats are designed for two people, and passengers sit astride it like on a horse. At the time of the accident, it was occupied by a single passenger, which exposed them to a 'high shock load' and a lack of lumbar support as the boat hit the waves. The RIB, which was operated by Ilfracombe Sea Safari, was leaving Ilfracombe harbour when it 'encountered a high wave, which caused it to slam into an oncoming wave,' a report by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) found.

Tourist visits Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and names favourite
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A holidaymaker who explored England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales has shared their verdict on which destination stole their heart. The visitor from Central Asia revealed they embarked on an extensive solo journey around the UK, with one nation leaving a lasting impression. They continue to reminisce about the location and have even begun studying the native tongue. Their passion for Wales was expressed in a post on the r/Wales Reddit forum, where the traveller confirmed they would undoubtedly return. They disclosed their travels took them across the UK, including visits to Aberystwyth, and Bangor. However, even Wales's larger urban centres proved "welcoming", with the visitor commending the warm reception they received. Their Welsh experience proved so memorable that they intend to return with their partner and are currently mastering Welsh expressions ahead of their next visit. The holidaymaker wrote: "Wales... I don't even know how to explain it. It wasn't the place I was most hyped about, but now it's the one I keep thinking about the most. "There's something in the air there, in the mountains, in the sea, in the small quiet roads between villages. I spent a couple days hiking around Snowdonia and honestly it felt like I was walking through a dream. I've never seen nature like that. "I stayed in Aberystwyth and Bangor and absolutely loved both. Peaceful, beautiful towns with such a calm vibe. Walked around, drank way too much tea, talked to strangers like I'd known them for years." (Image: Pawel Libera) It wasn't merely the smaller areas and towns of Wales that had captivated the traveller, with other regions of the country proving equally magnificent. The tourist continued: "Cardiff and Swansea were also amazing, bigger, busier, but still so welcoming. "I had a pint in some tiny village pub outside of Swansea, surrounded by people speaking Welsh, and I didn't understand a word... but somehow still felt completely at ease. "Other countries within the UK were absolutely stunning either, but I don't know, Wales is in my heart." Welsh residents found themselves cherishing their homeland even more following the visitor's heartwarming comments. One remarked: "Great read, we have had a surge of tourism and it's actually made me appreciate my home country a lot more having others' perspective. You don't really know what you have until people point it out." Another commented: "I live in Swansea and I love it when people say how much they love Wales. Each December, 10 of us stay in a converted barn in Garth (not far from Builth Wells). As I am an early riser, I get up at 5.00 every morning. "I have a couple of coffees and read my book. Once the sun comes up, I go outside and the view I breath-taking. We are in middle of nowhere. There is no traffic noise, just nature. One year, I even sat out there in the snow (suitably dressed, of course)." A third extended an open invitation to the tourist, penning: "Welcome any time!" Meanwhile, fourth individual commended the tourist for choosing Wales as their destination and expressed their delight at hearing about the positive experience. They penned: "I have loved Wales for fifty years. I was just talking about how it's time for me to get back there. I'm so glad you got to experience so much of it!!!"
