Karnataka BJP to protest in Kalaburagi demanding Priyank Kharge's removal from cabinet
Kalaburagi (Karnataka) [India], May 23 (ANI): The Karnataka BJP will hold a massive protest in Kalaburagi on Saturday, May 24, demanding the removal of State Minister Priyank Kharge from the cabinet, BJP leader Rajkumar Patil said on Friday.
Patil accused Kharge of misusing his official position to settle personal political scores, particularly targeting the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanswamy.
He alleged that BJP leaders, including Narayanswamy, were deliberately harassed during a peaceful Satyagraha protest in Chittapur, and claimed Congress-backed individuals attacked Narayanswamy's car and attempted to assault him.
Urging Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to take immediate action, Patil said, 'CM has to take strict action... all those police officers have to be suspended, and those who messed up the Darna Dutt Satyagraha there. He did the work of attacking him here, taking a case under hooligan law and arresting all those people inside.'
He also criticised the Congress-led state government for failing to act on multiple complaints filed against Priyank Kharge. The BJP demanded that those involved in the attack be booked under the Gunda Act and arrested without delay.
Patil accused the Congress leadership of shielding Kharge and enabling illegal activities in Kalaburagi. 'Only those who are there with the Congress and their support have been done. Some Congress is working here, and some under the constitution, nothing works here; the entire illegal activity is going on here,' he said.
He further alleged that even ministers and common citizens were afraid to speak out due to Kharge's influence.
'Some ministers are scared to come here, people are afraid that Priyanka Karge has kept some people under control. Those people come and do such things as Dharna Satyagraha,' he added.
'Until Priyank resigns or is removed from the community, Siddaramaiah ji will not do the job of removing him...We will continue protesting,' said Patil.
'Unless Siddaramaiah acts and removes Priyank, we will not back down,' he added. (ANI)

Govt releases over Rs 800 crore for development works across city
New Delhi: Delhi govt on Friday released funds to civic bodies for several development works across the city. While Municipal Corporation of Delhi received Rs 820 crore, NDMC got Rs 8 crore and the Cantonment Board Rs 5.5 crore. Rs 50.8 crore was released for biomining activities at the three landfill sites in Delhi under the first instalment of the basic tax assignment for the financial year 2025–26. This amount will help in the speedy activity of biomining at these sites and facilitate the reduction in mounds of garbage, said MCD. Gujarat Congress general secy held over post on Opration Sindoor
The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary, Rajesh Soni, was on Friday arrested by the Gujarat Police Cyber Crime Cell over an alleged objectionable social media post on Operation Sindoor, officials said even as GPCC president Shaktisinh Gohil criticised the move. According to police officials, Soni allegedly made disparaging statements about the Armed Forces in his post. Cyber Crime Cell Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Sharma told The Indian Express, 'Soni was booked under BNS Sections 152 (endangering the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India) and 353 (making, publishing or circulating statements that could lead to public mischief) for demoralising the army.' SP Sharma confirmed that earlier in the day, Soni was detained from his home in Ahmedabad and subsequently placed under arrest. He was produced before court, which then sent him to judicial custody. Demanding 'immediate bail' from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for 'social leader and political activist' Rajeshbhai T Soni, GPCC president Shaktisinh Gohil said, 'Last night, just like a terrorist is being caught, Rajeshbhai T Soni was arrested by Gandhinagar Cyber Crime. Ludhiana: AAP minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond criticised the BJP and Congress for their "alliance" against AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora in Ludhiana West. "BJP has conceded defeat and is urging voters not to support AAP. Their fear of Sanjeev Arora's clean image is evident," Sond said. He also slammed the "unethical tactics" of the Congress and BJP, which, he claimed, were aimed at diverting attention from Bharat Bhushan Ashu's "corruption scandals." He urged residents to choose honesty and development by electing Sanjeev Arora. In a scathing attack on the Congress and Ashu, AAP leader Neel Garg accused them of engaging in "sympathy-driven theatrics."
