One beauty essential I will never leave the house without? Lip balm - it's the only beauty product I keep to hand at all times. And I'm not the only one. Lip balms are quite the talking point on TikTok, having wracked up 37.5K videos and counting, with content creators, dermatologists and beauty experts all weighing in on their personal favourites. A quick scroll reveals that glossy, balmy lip treatments are a growing status flex that many of us willingly splash cash on - look to the Augustinus Bader x Sofia Coppola balm collaboration for proof. But Boots is here to remind us that a hard-working, lip-perfecting buy needn't cost you a small fortune.
Enter the Boots Glossy Lip Balm. At just £3 a pop (yes, really), it comes in at a fraction of the cost of its high-end competitors, but a quick swipe of its nourishing goodness will make you wonder why you ever needed a designer equivalent. In fact, they are so good that when they first launched last year, one tube sold every 30 seconds.

A hit on TikTok, the lip balms have amassed countless rave reviews. @hanstlucesays, 'It's really nice, it's not overly glossy, but it just makes my lips look moisturised and put together. That is what I wanted from lip balm. Sometimes they're just too glossy, they move around, but Boots? We are onto a winner here.'
Similarly, @gabbyhowescomments, 'The gloss that these give is incredible. They're not sticky either, they're really nice and hydrating on the lips. My lips genuinely feel so smooth, honestly, like butter after using these and they stay hydrated for so long.' 1.

Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'When it comes to lip balm there are a few things I look out for. Uber nourishment that functions much like a salve (obviously), comfortable wear, and a layerable formula so that it sits comfortably sans build-up. I also need it to blend well with other lip products, like liners and tints. Thankfully, this internet-favourite checks every box.' Pros Affordable price point
Long-lasting hydration Cons Tube is so packed with product it can be hard to squeeze out
Boots has taken note of the demand and recently responded accordingly with three all new delicious shades, Vanilla, Peach and Raspberry, each promising to be as delightfully glazing as the next.

The creamy texture instantly feels like a treat for chapped lips and the glossy finish is more of a wearable sheen than a high-shine, making it perfect for all occasions. Plus, while scented and tinted, everything has been done with a delicate hand, which ensures you'll keep reaching for a tube of this time and time over.'

Celebrity hairstylist Phil Smith reveals his unusual hack for treating blonde hair that's gone brassy in the sun or green from too much chlorine... Sun, sea, swimming pool s - why are all the best bits of summer the worst for your hair? Celebrity hairdresser Phil Smith, who has tended the locks of Tess Daly and Emily Blunt, says he always sees a surge in clients arriving at his salon worrying about frizzing, colour fade and frazzled scalps at this time of year. 'Maintaining effortless, healthy hair all summer can be a challenge - but with the right tips, tricks and products, you can protect your locks without compromising on style and quality,' he says. Don't fall for TikTok hair sunscreen hacks We've all experienced that sting in the shower after a day at the beach - the telltale sign of a sunburned scalp. But avoiding a pink parting isn't always as easy as it sounds. 'I've seen people on TikTok suggest mixing sunscreen with water in a spray bottle to mist over the scalp,' says Phil. 'Unfortunately, this just dilutes the SPF, making it far less protective. And it's a big no no if you have hair extensions too. 'If the sunscreen contains ingredients like avobenzone, it can leave rust-like stains on them,' he adds. Instead, a smarter approach is to choose a hairstyle that eliminates your parting altogether. 'Slicking your hair back into a ponytail is one option, but that can be a bit harsh and doesn't suit everyone. I recommend going for a topknot or a couple of soft buns instead. Just leave a few loose strands out for a softer, more effortless look - it's protective and super cute.' Use ketchup to boost blonde tones It's particularly tough being a blonde in summer, when colour can be left brassy and battered by pollution and UV exposure - or even go green after contact with chlorine. 'One hair hack I particularly love, because it shocks people that it works, is using tomato ketchup to reverse green tinges,' says Phil. 'Apply a tablespoon to lengths and wait up to 30 minutes before rinsing. The acid in the tomatoes and vinegar break down the copper build-up that causes the discolouration, restoring the blonde tones you love. If you prefer results in seconds rather than smelling like you belong in a burger for half an hour, when you get back from your sunshine break, he suggests grabbing a bottle of Phil Smith Professional Haircare Blonde Toning Shampoo (£14 each; ), which uses amino acid rich violet rice extract to have you back to your 'natural' colour in the time it takes to shampoo and rinse.' Shower before the pool to protect against chlorine There's nothing better than diving into a cool pool on a hot day, but chlorinated water can leave hair dry, brittle and weak. The good news? A little prep goes a long way. 'Our hair is porous, but it can only absorb so much water at once,' says Phil. 'If you want to limit how much chlorine your hair soaks up, wet your hair with fresh water before swimming. "Take a quick shower or, if you're at the beach, keep a refillable bottle of tap water handy so you can rinse before taking the plunge.' Phil also advises against swimming with your hair down. 'I always tell my clients to apply a leave-in conditioner and then tie hair up in a bun to shield it,' he says. Use the right towel on damp locks Wet hair is much weaker and more prone to breakage than dry strands, so how you care for it after a swim is just as crucial as before. 'Keep a soft microfibre towel like the Dock & Bay Hair Wrap (£15; in your beach bag so you aren't tempted to rough dry with an abrasive beach towel, which will damage the cuticle and leave you with a halo of frizz,' says Phil. If you want to comb out knots post-swim, he advises buying a wet brush. 'The MDLondon Vent Brush (£13; is perfect,' says Phil. 'Start detangling from the ends and work upwards to avoid breakage and minimise discomfort. Add a pump of Phil Smith Professional Haircare Miracle Primer (£14; at the same time, with hyaluronic acid to fight humidity-induced frizz and plant-based hemisqualane to smooth and detangle. Get your roots done once you've returned home Everyone wants their hair to look amazing in their holiday photos, but if your sunshine getaway happens to fall around the time you're due to see your colourist, it might be worth delaying that appointment. 'UV rays break down dye pigment molecules, so when you're on a sun-soaked holiday it's almost impossible to avoid fading and dullness - unless you spend the entire trip under a giant hat,' says Phil. 'While no one wants to skip a root touch-up to cover greys, if you can, I recommend stretching the time between appointments and scheduling your session for after you return home. Getting your hair professionally coloured is an investment - this way, your colour stays fresher for longer and you avoid paying for salon results that can't last.'

The 24-year-old made her debut on the latest season of Jeremy Clarkson's beloved Prime Video documentary as a helping hand at Diddly Squat farm. But Harriet revealed that the industry has little financial gain for the family, explaining it's a lifestyle more than a business. Speaking on BBC's Farmwatch, she explained: "We cannot reiterate how important this is for us, that we don't do this because it's going to make us money. Because probably 90% of farms do not make money from the farm, I know I don't." The Great British Bake Off's Mike Wilkins added it was because farmers don't pay themselves, with any money being fed back into the farm. Agreeing, Harriet added: "We just work for free seven days a week, and it becomes such a lonely, lonely place." "Profitability is so under pressure," added Mike. "Most farms aren't making any money, and people really are doing it because it's their lifestyle." Harriet joined the team at Diddly Squat Farm when regular face Kaleb Cooper was on tour promoting his book. Away from the series, Harriet is a full-time nurse as well as helping on her family's farm. A new series of Clarkson's Farm is currently being filmed, and promises to show the most brutal side of the farming world yet with Diddly Squat suffering due to weather and illness outbreaks including an outbreak of Bovine Tuberculosis. Earlier today, Jeremy shared they're preparing for a 'disastrous' harvest as a result of the issues they've faced. Jeremy Clarkson suffers another blow as he reveals beloved dog died as Diddly Squat closed for 2 MONTHS over TB outbreak "It looks like this year's harvest will be catastrophic," he wrote on X. "That should be a worry for anyone who eats food. "If a disaster on this scale had befallen any other industry, there would be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth." When one fan told him that this particular 'drama' will make 'good TV' in a future episode of Clarkson's Farm, the former Top Gear star replied: 'Yes. But most farms don't have TV shows to keep them going.' 5 The star says that noone makes money in the industry Credit: Instagram/harrietcowan_x

Love Island's Dejon Noel-Williams' stepsister releases 'tell all' book about 'narcissistic' star

Love Island star Dejon Noel-Williams, who left the villa with Meg Moore shortly before Monday's final, is said to be the subject of a new book by a content creator from TikTok Former Love Island star Dejon Noel-Williams is said to be the subject of a new book released by his step-sister, who previously called him 'narcissistic'. Dejon, 26, was among the original islanders on the latest series of the ITV2 show. ‌ He coupled up with Meg Moore, 25, throughout and some of his behaviour drew criticism from viewers, which he's addressed since leaving the villa with his partner shortly before the final. ‌ After being branded a "narcissist" by some viewers - including his stepsister Niah Sienna - Dejon denied the claims and insisted that he is an "empathetic person". Now, Niah, who is not related by blood to Dejon but shares a brother with him, has criticised Dejon and has told fans that she's now released a book about the Love Island star. ‌ Niah, who is said to be the sister of the reality TV star's brother, announced the release of Surviving Dejon in a post on the platform this morning. It comes after Niah described Dejon as a "narcissist" and "manipulative" in previous videos. The content creator wrote in the caption of her post uploaded earlier: "This book answers everything. reasons why I spoke out. Why fear kept me silent for so long. How I lost everyone and everything I ever cared about. ‌ "It reveals the truth behind the rumours I never wanted to address. I need to tell my truth in the way that I feel in control. This is not for attention, creating this book was like therapy for me. I would never put my reputation on the line or lose the people I loved if I didn't have a powerful reason to finally speak. This wasn't easy, but it was necessary." She continued: "Surviving Dejon isn't about hate it's about healing. I hope that people do not use this against him in a harmful way. I hope instead people choose kindness." Niah added: "To everyone who sent me kind messages while I had no one... thank you. You were the support system I didn't know I needed. Even though I know I'll receive controversial responses, I hope this helps at least one person. If this helps at least one person out of a dark place, then I have made an impact. ‌ "I hope after reading, you'll understand where I was coming from, and I hope you'll still stand with me. Trigger warning: This book contains emotionally intense and potentially distressing content." Her post included a trailer for Surviving Dejon, which is currently priced at £14.99 for a PDF version. The trailer, which states that the book is "based on a true story", includes several clips from other content creators criticising Dejon. ‌ The announcement comes after Dejon addressed some criticism over his stint on Love Island in an interview following his departure from the villa. He told the Daily Mail: "I do take full accountability for how I communicated at times in the villa." Dejon added: "The girls who were on the show with me say I'm not a narcissist, I'm not a gaslighter, all of these things they have seen online, it means a lot to me because they spent 24 hours a day with me. I could have handled situations better but when it comes to being a 'narcissist' and these words, empathy is definitely something that I have, it's something I had for Meg, for Harry, and when Meg was upset, I was there for her, and when Harry was upset it would break my heart." He told the outlet that he's had to turn the comments off on social media. Dejon said that messages himself and Meg have received are "no good" for his mental health.
