GMB viewers say they've ‘had enough' after latest Peppa Pig interview

Metro28-05-2025
Good Morning Britain viewers have taken to social media to declare they're fed up with all the Peppa Pig news.
Their fury comes after Peppa Pig and family took part in a chaotic interview with GMB's entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold about their newest addition to the family, Evie.
During the interview, which is the first since the birth of Evie, Daddy Pig got a little emotional as he introduced the world to his daughter.
Speaking about George and Peppa's introduction to their baby sister, Mummy Pig said: 'Oh, they could hardly contain themselves.
'But they were so gentle and sweet, too. Evie did a little laugh when she saw them, didn't she? Daddy Pig?'
Daddy Pig then said with tears in his eyes: 'How could I forget? Sorry, that's me. Off again.'
It seems, however, that not everyone is as moved by the Pig family's newest bundle of joy as Daddy.
On X a number of people were quite scathing about the report, with @James Abbott01 writing ' Ofcom phones are ringing right now [to] complain is about Peppa Pig on #GMB… I'm being serious viewers are not happy about Good Morning Britain talking to a cartoon'.
@InformeOculto meanwhile added 'More Peppa Pig drivel… Who exactly is this for?' @GreyhoundGeezer was similarly dismissive, posting 'Enough with this Peppa Pig nonsense.'
'How pathetic and puerile to keep harping on about bloody Peppa Pig,' added @Ladyjane223. 'This is not news. Embarrassing.'
During the same interview, Daddy Pig said: 'It's been a long, tiring and completely amazing few days.
'Everything went well, and Mummy Pig has been incredible. Peppa and George were so excited to meet their new little sister. We're excited to meet her too.'
They also spoke about the origin of their daughter's name, opting to go with something from their family history.
'Peppa had more than a few ideas for a while, she just wanted to call her baby forever. But we've decided to name her after my great aunt Evie,' said Mummy Pig.
She added: 'I think right now we're just excited to be home, aren't we?'
Daddy Pig added that the family is just looking to spend time together: 'George and Peppa are excited to play with Evie.'
Just last week Mummy and Daddy Pig spoke about the labour.
'We were very lucky—everything went smoothly, and in eight, um, 'short' hours of labour, Evie was here,' Mummy Pig said about the birth,' they told Hello!
'Mummy Pig was amazing, and she brought our new baby girl into the world. What a miracle that is!', praised Daddy Pig.
According to the first official snap of the happy family, Mummy Pig gave birth at 5:34am on May 20 at the Lindo Wing in London, where Kate Middleton welcomed all three of her children.
An hour-long special featuring brand-new episodes based around Evie, titled Peppa Meets the Baby, will screen in cinemas globally on May 30.

EastEnders star teases 'really disturbing' storyline for the Knight family

EastEnders star Colin Salmon, who plays George Knight on the BBC soap, has teased that a 'really disturbing' storyline is coming up for his Walford family Colin Salmon has teased that he has a 'really disturbing' storyline coming up on EastEnders, The actor, 63, plays George Knight on the BBC soap and while he cannot say much about what to come, he has promised that something is coming up that is 'perfect' viewers right now. ‌ Fans of the London-based soap will know that George was previously at the centre of a baby farming storyline, after he learned from his parents that they were actually paid to take him rather than adopt him of their own choosing, but he explained that something even more dramatic is on the cards. ‌ During an appearance on Friday's Good Morning Britain, he told hosts Rob Rinder and Charlotte Hawkins: "We've got another storyline you haven't seen before. I did the farming storyline, we have another storyline that is perfect for this time, it's real, it's really disturbing and it's coming. I can't tell you what it is." It comes after one EastEnders star was announced to be taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing. ‌ Colin, who is known starring in the James Bond franchise, and has also appeared on other TV staples like Doctor Who and Merlin over the course of his career, was introduced to Albert Square as George in 2023, and headed up the Knight family alongside son Junior (Micah Balfour), Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry). He married Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) but began an affair with ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), which culminated in kicking off the Who Attacked Cindy? storyline last Christmas when she was attacked with a shovel. In making history for the soap, George became the first black landlord of the famed Queen Vic pub, and Colin insisted that while he has never tried explicitly to change things in terms of diversity, he has always faced things head on as he has tried to move forward within his career.. He added: "It was interesting because I'd been asked before and I'd known that family that life. If you see it, you can be it, it's a real simple thing. I've lived by life trying to be Avant-garde but not in an aggressive way or an antagonistic way, but just being myself in going forward without fear." Meanwhile, Colin is now reprising his role as as the Barber in Nobody 2, the sequel to the 2021 comedy, alongside Bob Odenkirk, and recalled arriving on the set to discover that his co-star is a fan of the show, and he told him about the workload that comes with making a continuing drama. He said: "When I arrived in Winnipeg I had to shoot all my scenes very quickly. And my manager in Hollywood said 'You can't do that!' I said 'Do you realise what I do for a day job? Once arriving on set, I was asked about EastEnders, and I said 'Oh we shoot a movie in a week, we shoot very quickly.'" ‌ For EastEnders fans, the storyline that Colin teased comes shortly after it was announced that his on-screen daughter Anna is to leave Walford for good. According to a source it was a mutual decision between actress Molly and soap bosses, following new Executive Producer Ben Wadey taking over the soap. It's claimed Molly is ready for new ventures, while details on Anna's exit remain under wraps for now. The BBC told us in June : "We can confirm that Molly Rainford will be leaving EastEnders later this year, and we wish her all the best for the future." Anna's biggest storylines have included her being spiked, being revealed as Cindy Beale's daughter, and her love triangle with Bobby Beale and Freddie Slater. ‌ A source confirmed the decision behind the exit, and said to The Sun: 'New boss Ben Wadey is making sweeping changes on the show and his decision coincided with Mollie deciding she wanted to pursue other challenges." They added: "New boss Ben Wadey is making sweeping changes on the show and his decision coincided with Molly deciding she wanted to pursue other challenges. "She's hugely talented and wants to spread her wings and see what else is out there for her." Molly's character Anna arrived in 2023 as part of the Knight family, with dad George, sister Gina and stepmother Elaine Peacock. They took over The Queen Vic, and soon it was revealed Anna was Cindy's secret daughter."

Scott Turnbull's edutainment is surreally good fun

a Scott Turnbull and his collaborators won £2500 from Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy as part of the Keep it Fringe bursary scheme, launched by Fleabag queen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge (OK, Waller-Bridge's charity contrib-uted too) but you'd think the stage hands could of spent some of it on new paint, ay lad? Yes, Scott Turnbull's contagious idiocy has soaked fully into my bones since I succumbed to his "edutainment" this morning at Summerhall (I know other venues exist but that's where I keep getting sent so take it up with the management...) sorry – I'm doing it again. I want to be back in Scott's Surreally Good world...! Scott greets us at the door and shakes hands; as a reviewer I worry I maybe hurt his feelings by piously breezing past him with a haughty pout. Can't get too palsy-palsy ye knaw. Objectivity etc. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad His million-candela smile didn't flicker, though, and he launched into a Dada-esque cavort through one of the silliest and loveliest explorations of... Stockton on Tees. Where he's from. Scott Turnbull presents... Surreally Good An overhead projector (do these still get made?) shows images from transparent slides, as Scott tells the mega-absurd story of 'That's Edutainment!', interspersed with hand-animated adverts which include a commercial for 'Babyfags' – yes, cigarettes for northern babies. He draws in real time – at one point backed by the theme tune from 'Vision On' – a talented illustrator whose characters, with migrating lips pursuing kisses from posh-voiced lovers (posh voices are a thing with him) evoke the style of Jim Moir or perhaps in his dafter moments, Grayson Perry. (Scott will be tickled wi' that comparison, fella!) The audience was chuckling and guffawing throughout and the warmth in the damp, peeling Summerhall dungeon grew steadily as Scott charmed the pants off us. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad It doesn't really matter how George Lucas wanted to buy his dad's show, or how Mr Turnbull met Scott's mum (a fishing net was involved); what matters is that he took us into a happy delirium, with that kind of hysterical silliness which can leave you high on laughter. Get in there; you might get a Chufty Badge. Venue 26, Former Womens Locker Room at Summerhall, 11.20am, until August 25 (not 18)

The star has previously been open about his previous conviction for handling stolen goods in 2011. Taking to X, he wrote: "Yes I did get arrested when I was younger, in fact I get arrested several times. "And been charged and paid the price for my convictions. I wrote a book about it." Thomas is known for his outspoken political opinions on social media, having expressed support for President Donald Trump. He's also known for his high-profile television appearances on the likes of Good Morning Britain and Celebrity MasterChef. However, many fans were not happy with the casting choice as droves of disgruntled users took to social media to complain. One user stated: "Right, so who in the Strictly production team signed up Thomas Skinner?!" Someone else fumed: "Amanda Abbington, Wynne Evans and now Thomas Skinner… oh #Strictly has a death wish." "I'm so serious, I loved this year's #Strictly line up but casting Thomas Skinner has completely ruined the WHOLE thing," raged someone else. Apprentice star 'gives away' he's signed up for Strictly as celeb mates and pro dancers rush to congratulate him As a fourth added: "Platforming Thomas Skinner is absolutely wild to me like take one scroll through his platform and you can see." In defence However, many fans have defended the star as they have praised the show for the casting choice. One fan posted on X: "I am sorry guys can someone explain the real problem with Thomas Skinner being on strictly come dancing? He is real nice guy and genuine." A second stated: "I think it's great Thomas Skinner is going to be on Strictly and definitely a superb signing for common sense and decency." Yes I did get arrested when I was younger, in fact I get arrested several times. Thomas Skinner "People crying because Thomas Skinner is going to be a contestant on Strictly. He's not perfect but there are far worse people out there," noted a third fan. While a fourth commented: "I haven't watched strictly for a good few years now for many reasons.. but, I will watch to support you this year." And a fifth fan added: "Taking BOSH mainstream! Nice bit of prime time advertising there." The Sun has approached representatives for Strictly Come Dancing and Thomas Skinner for comment. Presidential support? The signing comes just a day after the Romford lad met US Vice President JD Vance at a Cotswolds BBQ. The married dad-of-three, 34, said: 'I've tackled the boardroom and some big breakfasts in my time but stepping onto the dance floor under that glitter ball is next level stuff. 'I've never danced in my life (other than at weddings) but I'm ready to graft and of course have a laugh. 'Bring on the sequins, sambas and most importantly, the BOSH to the ballroom.' Thomas met up with Vance after the two struck up an unlikely friendship on social media site X. He hit back at the flak yesterday, adding: "I'm not right wing. People are like sheep and just started saying it because I got invited to go to bbq with JD Vance and I posted a picture with him. "Who is gonna turn down an opportunity to meet the 2nd most powerful man in the world?" 6 Thomas Skinner first rose to fame when he competed on The Apprentice in 2019 Credit: BBC 6 He's also known for his high-profile appearances on shows such as MasterChef and Good Morning Britain Credit: BBC/Shine TV
