Halloween Horror Nights Welcomes ‘Five Nights At Freddy's' And WWE

Forbesa day ago
Halloween Horror Nights unleashes all-new haunted house 'Five Nights at Freddy's.'
Iconic titans of terror, Five Nights at Freddy's and WWE's The Wyatt Sicks, are heading to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. The immersive houses for both massive IPs will feature at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort.
Fans of Five Nights at Freddy's, or FNAF as it is also known, will venture through an all-new haunted house inspired by the 2023 hit film, following in the footsteps of Mike, played by Josh Hutcherson in the movie, after he take as the night security guard in the abandoned themed entertainment center, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. That's where terrifying chaos ensues.
As brave ticket holders find their way through the corridors, they quickly learn that nothing is what it seems. As they move through the building, they will "encounter the supernatural and become lured into the black heart of an unspeakable nightmare," coming face-to-face with full-scale replicas of the eerie characters from the film - Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and Mr. Cupcake. They will stalk guests as they pass through recreations of classic scenes and locations such as the security room and the showroom where the characters performed.
Much like Xanathar in the Dungeons and Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep experience during Universal Studios Hollywood's inaugural Fan Fest Nights, FNAF's larger-than-life characters have been created in collaboration with Jim Henson's Creature Shop. They also masterfully produced the animatronics and costumes for the fan-favorite film, so it doesn't get more authentic than that.
Blumhouse's Five Nights at Freddy's movie, based on another widely popular videogame IP that inspired a hit movie, grossed $291.49 million at the worldwide box office in 2023. The sequel will land in theaters on Friday, December 5, 2025.
WWE Enters The Halloween Horror Nights Ring
When fans have taken a break after scaring themselves silly in Five Nights at Freddy's, they can head to WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks. That's where they will "go head-to-head with Uncle Howdy in an experience that not only features The Wyatt Sicks but honors the legacy of Bray Wyatt."
Fans will already be aware of this, but for those who aren't, with its portrayal of dark and twisted characters, the five-strong crew has quickly emerged as one of the most disturbing and disruptive groups in WWE history. Those nightmarish figures are going to manifest at Halloween Horror Nights this spooky season.
According to a release, "horror fans brave enough to travel through the light of the lantern will find themselves transported into the maniacal minds of The Wyatt Sicks, where each member reigns supreme within their horrific domains."
"There, Uncle Howdy, together with Ramblin' Rabbit, Mercy the Buzzard, Abby the Witch, and Huskus the Pig, will be waiting to take bloody retribution on a world that has abandoned them. Along the way, guests will be stalked by the eerie presence of The Fiend, Bray's sadistic alter ego, who looms within the shadows and beckons them to let him in."
Five Nights at Freddy's and WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks are the final two haunted houses to be announced for this year's bicoastal event. Both join an incredibly strong offering that fans are already predicting will be a vintage year for the seasonal scarefest that traditionally draws visitors from around the world.
Nightmares Come Alive At Halloween Horror Nights
Among the previously announced nightmarish experiences is a blood-soaked haunted house inspired by the gory Terrifier film franchise. It'll feature supernatural entity Art the Clown terrorizing the fictional town of Miles County, New York, and torturing his victims in creative but cruel and "sickeningly sinister ways." Promising "an unfathomable level of gore," guests can expect "a grisly haunted house oozing with a new sense of terror."
Elsewhere, legendary slasher icon Jason Voorhees is the star of Jason Universe, which sees the seemingly indestructible killer from the Friday the 13th franchise get his own haunted house at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. The all-original experience will take guests back on "a vengeance tour through the summer camp to see where it all began, from the creaking floorboards of Jason's ramshackle cabin to the decaying main lodge and the eerie forest that offers no refuge for his victims."
Also featuring at this year's Halloween Horror Nights is a house inspired by Fallout, Prime Video's acclaimed smash hit show. Ahead of the series' second season premiere, the immersive Fallout attraction will transport fans into iconic scenes and put them face-to-face with their characters on a journey from Vault 33 to the Wasteland.
Terror returns in 'Scarecrow: Music by Slash' and 'Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America' at ... More Universal Studios Hollywood.
Fan Favorites Get A Terrifying Refresh At Halloween Horror Nights In Hollywood
In terms of original mazes not based on IPs, two fan-favorite mazes evolve this year. At Universal Studios Hollywood, 2022's Scarecrow: The Reaping gets a revamp and a new name, returning as Scarecrow: Music by Slash.
Set to a soundtrack created by the rock icon, his seventh consecutive year providing a score for a Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights haunted house, Mother Nature "seeks vengeance on the homesteaders for their sins of the past that will be carried out by farmland scarecrows, mute witnesses who have become the guardians of destruction for anyone who crosses their path."
Meanwhile, La Llorona headlines the final entry in a trilogy of terror, Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America, a haunted house with a narrative based on Latin American folklore. In addition to the legendary Weeping Woman, the Colombian female boogeyman, the sharp-toothed La Muelona, and the horse-headed La Siguanaba will also feature to scare the bejesus out of visitors.
We're now in gushing distance of Halloween Horror Nights. It kicks off at Universal Studios Hollywood on Thursday, September 4, 2025. However, Universal Orlando Resort gets the ball rolling a little earlier on Friday, August 29, 2025. Tickets are now on sale.

Roman Reigns is once again back, but can WWE please find him something worthwhile to do?

Another SummerSlam, another Roman Reigns return. Old hands in this game will remember that it was exactly 12 months ago that 'The Tribal Chief' made his big return to WWE after his post-WrestleMania hiatus, delivering a punch to the jaw of Solo Sikoa to set up the closing shots of SummerSlam 2024. Admittedly, this year isn't a total repeat, given that Reigns technically returned two weeks ago on 'WWE Raw' and is actually booked in a match at this weekend's event (unlike last year, when he was just a run-in with a big-budget entrance). But the overall vibe is distinctly familiar, as WWE rolls out the proverbial red carpet for one of its biggest stars. How big a deal is Reigns? His somewhat sporadic appearances mean that he tends to drop in and out of our pro-wrestling power rankings, which prioritize those wrestlers who've been active recently. But if we were ranking the biggest current names in pro-wrestling by star power alone, Reigns has to be top five. Reigns himself likes to talk about how he 'carried the company' during WWE's post-pandemic era. And if we're being honest, he isn't exaggerating. His 1,316 days as Universal Champion has to be among the best runs in WWE history. It says a lot about how good it was that Reigns even managed to go out on a high, teaming with The Rock to give us one of the most unforgettable main events in WrestleMania history. Following that kind of showing was never going to be easy. But one year after Reigns' last big return, it's hard to shake the conclusion that his latest run didn't really do justice to the levels of excitement that preceded it. Having Reigns feud with Solo Sikoa was always the obvious move given the whole Bloodline dynamic, but it wasn't exactly dynamite television and certainly didn't justify the decision to stretch the angle out over six months. How many permutations on the Bloodline civil war tag match did we get in the run-up to Survivor Series? Even then, the most exciting part was the surprise inclusion of CM Punk, who had nothing to do with the family feud in the first place. When Reigns vs. Sikoa finally wrapped up on January's Netflix premiere of 'Raw,' I figured we might finally get some new singles rivalries for Reigns. At the time, WWE were even teasing a potential rematch with Drew McIntyre given that 'The Scottish Warrior' was out for revenge on the former Bloodline. The whole setup felt like a box-office rivalry in waiting — until it suddenly evaporated into thin air. We did get the Reigns vs. Rollins vs. Punk triple threat at WrestleMania 41, of course. But for all the explosive potential, the build-up to that particular showdown felt rushed and the payoff concentrated mainly on Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman. The next night, Reigns was written off television again following a beatdown from Rollins' new henchman, Bron Breakker. Now we're back to square one, with Roman set to make another return after a four-month absence. Given the two-night format of this year's SummerSlam, there's every chance he ends up as the headline act on Saturday, as he teams with Jey Uso to take on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. But will this year's return be better than last time around? In truth, it's a shame we're getting another tag match, given what Reigns' last run lacked most of all was a decent singles feud. Would it not have been more exciting to see Reigns go one-on-one with Bron Breakker, the man who took him out in the first place? Although that would mean the WWE having to decide which of the two would be pinned — a decision they seem desperate to avoid when it comes to their upper-card guys. Given the circumstances, this year's match is also slightly overshadowed by the Reigns vs. Rollins rivalry, which remains one of the longest-running and most-celebrated storylines in modern wrestling. We know from WrestleMania XL and this year's Royal Rumble that WWE considers both men to have unfinished business — which begs the question why they didn't give us that match at this year's WrestleMania. (Indeed, we learned from Unreal, the new Netflix documentary on WWE's backstage processes, that Reigns vs. Rollins was the provisional plan for this year.) This stuff really matters, given that we know from Reigns' big interview with Vanity Fair in April that his time in WWE is coming to a close. Not only is Joe Anoa'i looking to break into Hollywood, but he has now put it on record that he wants to retire from wrestling by 2028 at the very latest. Based on his usual work-rate, that means we could have fewer than 10 Reigns matches left. If that's the case, isn't it time WWE gave Reigns a feud he can really get his teeth stuck into? As well as Rollins and McIntyre, they've also teased us with the likes of Jacob Fatu and CM Punk. Reigns himself has suggested we'll see him face Rhodes again to complete their trilogy. And then there's the granddaddy of them all — the match so big it almost derailed the entire plan for WrestleMania XL: Roman Reigns vs. The Rock. Sure, getting 'The Final Boss' aboard might take some work, but it isn't like WWE is short of options in the meantime. They just need to make a choice and stick with it, preferably by the time SummerSlam wraps up. Until then, there's a danger that this latest return goes the same way as the last one: A massive pop in the stadium on Saturday, followed by a handful of tag matches and cameos on the occasional 'Raw' or 'SmackDown' until Reigns takes his next break from the business. A star as big as Roman Reigns deserves better than that — and in all honesty, so do we.

Popular AEW Star Sidelined With Serious Injury

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. AEW star Samoa Joe has broken his silence on his current absence from the company, revealing that the situation is more serious than previously reported. In a new interview, the former AEW World Champion confirmed that he is currently in the company's concussion protocols following the attack he suffered at All In: Texas. This is a significant update, as his hiatus was previously believed to be solely for promotional duties for his television series. Joe was written off television after being stretchered out of the arena at the July 12th pay-per-view. A Real Injury Behind The Storyline Speaking with WrestleZone, Samoa Joe set the record straight on his status. He confirmed he is dealing with a legitimate medical issue that he is taking very seriously. "You know, obviously we're working through concussion protocols right now, which I take very seriously," Joe said. "Hopefully, doctors will clear me sooner than later, so we can make amends for things that maybe shouldn't have gone on." His ominous comment about "making amends" appears to be a direct reference to the brutal post-match assault by the Death Riders faction at All In. That storyline attack now has a very real-world component. All Elite Wrestling ALL IN at Wembley Stadium in London on August 27, 2023. All Elite Wrestling ALL IN at Wembley Stadium in London on August 27, 2023. Courtesy of AEW A Career Built On Physicality Samoa Joe has built a legendary, two-decade career on a foundation of intense, hard-hitting physicality. His "Samoan Submission Machine" persona is built on a realistic, MMA-influenced offense of stiff strikes, brutal suplexes, and powerful submission holds. While this style has made him a world champion in every major promotion he has been in, it also carries a significant risk of injury. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match In the past, concussions were often overlooked in the wrestling business. However, with the modern understanding of the long-term effects of head trauma, companies like AEW have instituted strict concussion protocols that require a superstar to be fully cleared by independent doctors before they are allowed to return to the ring. Joe's statement shows that he is respecting this important process. An Uncertain Future While Joe will still be involved in promoting the second season of his hit Peacock series, Twisted Metal, it is now clear that his return to an AEW ring is dependent on his medical clearance. His injury puts the future of the AEW Trios Championships, which he currently holds with his partners in The Opps, in question. When he is cleared to return, he already has a clear target. His parting words suggest that he will be coming for revenge on the Death Riders. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports

GUNTHER Breaks Silence On Controversial Goldberg Match

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER has reflected on his recent retirement match against the legendary Goldberg. In a new interview, "The Ring General" stated that he believes they "exceeded expectations" and that he was proud of the story they were able to tell in the ring. The two titans clashed at the Saturday Night's Main Event premium live event on July 12th in Atlanta, Georgia. The match, which saw GUNTHER successfully defend his championship, was billed as the final bout of Goldberg's iconic career. Exceeding Expectations Speaking with Radio Times, GUNTHER expressed his satisfaction with how the high-profile match turned out. He made it clear that his goal was to have more than a typical, short Goldberg match. "I was very happy with how everything went and I feel like we exceeded expectations for the match," GUNTHER said. "For me, it was important to not go out there and have the typical three or four minutes of action and that's it." He continued, "I wanted time to tell a story and take the audience on a ride and make them feel bad for him a little bit before it all ends. I think we succeeded with that." SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - JANUARY 25: World Heavyweight Champion Gunther makes his entrance during Saturday Night's Main Event at Frost Bank Center on January 25, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. WWE/Getty Images A Clash of Wrestling Philosophies The comments from GUNTHER highlight the fascinating clash of styles the match represented. Goldberg's legendary career was built on short, explosive, and dominant victories that often lasted less than two minutes. In contrast, GUNTHER's reputation as "The Ring General" was forged in long, grueling, and technically proficient classics, most notably during his record-breaking 666-day reign as Intercontinental Champion. GUNTHER's desire to "tell a story" was a successful effort to have the match on his terms. He wanted to give the Hall of Famer a different kind of final bout, one that focused on drama and psychology. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match A Different Perspective GUNTHER's positive reflection on the in-ring action stands in stark contrast to Goldberg's own public comments following the event. In the weeks since the match, Goldberg has repeatedly expressed his disappointment with how his retirement was handled by WWE. He has been critical of the choice of a smaller premium live event for his finale and was deeply frustrated that his post-match speech to his hometown crowd was cut from the broadcast. While Goldberg's issues were with the production, GUNTHER's focus remains on the honor of the match itself. "He can be very happy with the match and the connection that he had with the audience because that felt very special," GUNTHER concluded. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports
