Married At First Sight's Eliot Donovan reveals truth about relationship with Jamie Marinos: 'Watching the show made me feel for her'

Daily Mail20-05-2025

Married At First Sight's Eliot Donovan and Jamie Marinos have fuelled romance rumours since attending Daily Mail Australia's reunion party last month.
And on Tuesday, the 35-year-old Gold Coast groom finally lifted the lid about their unlikely friendship.
'Jamie is an absolute babe and I would be very, very lucky to be in a romantic relationship with her but at this point in time, we are just friends. I would say we are very close friends,' he told 9Entertainment.
'I'm not in any kind of position to be navigating a romantic relationship but I wouldn't rule anything out and I am absolutely loving going on this journey with Jamie by my side.'
Eliot spoke highly of his friendship with Jamie and revealed his and Jamie's friendship has grown since meeting during filming last year.
'We were sort of friends during the show but we were never really close,' he said.
Eliot said it was when MAFS began airing they each started to understand each other as they watched their respective marriages play out on television.
'Watching the show made me feel for Jamie,' Eliot said. 'We actually didn't have each other's number, [Jamie] reached out to one of the other cast members and got my number.'
'She kind of said the same thing to me. She really empathised with my situation in the experiment and we just struck up this friendship that was really natural.'
It comes just days after the couple teased their engagement news while attending Australian Fashion Week.
The couple exclusively spoke to Daily Mail Australia about their relationship while attending the annual fashion event at Sydney 's Carriageworks last week.
Jamie, 28, revealed she had actually gotten married at the location, wedding her TV husband Dave Hand at the beginning of the season.
Upon returning to the venue with Eliot, who was initially paired with Lauren Hall and then Veronica Cloherty on the show, the resident season 12 funny-girl that it brought back memories of her nuptials - leaving a certain thought lingering in her head.
'I was hoping Eliot might propose,' she joked, which prompted fits of giggles from the pair.
But the TV groom was more than happy to play along with the jest.
'This will get some clicks,' he joked as he took a knee, reenacting an engagement on the Carriageways' railway tracks.
Eliot quipped he was pulling a 'Jacqui and Clint', alluding to Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice's engagement at a reunion viewing party last month.
The pair then put out rumours they had moved in together, saying they were 'taking things slow' despite the media frenzy around their relationship.
However, it has been reported Eliot and Jamie are sharing an Airbnb together while they visit Sydney for Australian Fashion Week.
Queenslander Eliot created a video in which he showed off the luxury digs and then appeared to be 'surprised' to find he was not alone in the apartment, discovering Jamie using the bathroom mirror.
Jamie also shared a video to her own stories where Eliot pretended to 'discover' her in the kitchen.
The blonde bombshell has previously said she and Eliot had simply clicked after their time on the Channel Nine series.
She said Eliot had provided support in the weeks following her split with Dave.
'We only started hanging around each other since we both left our marriages, just over a month ago,' she said.
'He's always been a very good friend to me, but he's been a really amazing support system.'
While admitting the pair had become close, Jamie stopped short of hard launching any romantic entanglement with Eliot.
'I understand everyone wants an answer but we're in the real world now, so it's not like we're going to be official or announce something tomorrow,' she added.
Jamie and Eliot certainly looked every inch the loved-up couple as they packed on the PDA for all to see at Warner Bros. Movie World last month.
Eliot spent most of the day with an arm around Jamie's shoulders, holding her hand or gently touching her back.
Jamie and Eliot also seemed unable to keep their hands off each other at Daily Mail Australia's recent reunion dinner.

Newly-single Romeo Beckham spotted on a low key stroll following shock split from Kim Turnbull after seven months of dating

Newly-single Romeo Beckham cut a sombre figure as he was spotted taking a stroll in London on Thursday, following his shock split from Kim Turnbull. The son of David and Victoria Beckham, 22, was joined by a pal on the outing as he ran errands in the capital. The Mail revealed earlier on Wednesday that the couple had gone their separate ways after seven months together, with friends saying that the romance ' fizzled out' three weeks after David's 50th birthday. Romeo first publicly launched his relationship with Kim last November after weeks of exchanging flirty 'likes' on Instagram however despite being warmly welcomed into the family, the relationship has now run its course. He cut a low key figure in a cream sweater and camouflage trousers which he teamed with a n orange baseball cap worn backwards. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Friends told The Mail that things remain 'amicable' between Romeo and Kim, and that their parting is 'nothing to do' with Kim being blamed by Nicola Peltz for being the catalyst for the feud that has ripped the Beckham family apart. One said: 'Romeo and Kim are both young and they had a lovely time together but at that age things don't always last forever and they decided to split up. 'They have been friendly since and have even been at the same venues. It's a huge shame, particularly as David and Victoria really adored her and thought she made Romeo happy but it wasn't to be. 'It happened a couple of weeks ago and relations have remained friendly between them. 'David and Victoria would hate for the view to be that they split because of Nicola and Brooklyn because that simply isn't the case. 'The fact is that Kim has got a really busy career as a DJ and Romeo has a busy work life too, there is lots of travelling for both of them at having a relationship at this time isn't all that conducive to their lives.' It comes following the news that dad David is to be awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honour's List after being snubbed for years. The former Manchester United and England star, who recently celebrated his milestone 50th birthday, will be confirmed as a 'Sir' when the list is released next week, according to The Sun. The tattooed ex-England captain last month chatted with King Charles at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London, with their bond reportedly growing close in recent years through their shared love of gardening. The 76-year-old monarch was heard congratulating the former England footballer on his landmark celebrations – and asked the star whether he had received their present. Standing outside the Highgrove stand run by the monarch's charity, the King's Foundation, Beckham – who is now an ambassador for the organisation – greeted the sovereign warmly and said: 'Your Majesty, it's so nice to see you.' Astonishingly, Charles then appeared to ask whether he had received the birthday present that he and his wife had sent. 'You got it, didn't you?' he asked. 'It was incredible,' beamed Beckham. 'Thank you, it was very kind.' Camilla added: 'Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.' David, an avid royalist since he was a schoolboy in Chingford, has long craved for a knighthood and it appeared to be within his grasp having received an OBE from the late Queen in 2003. While his appointment as an ambassador to HM's charity the King's Foundation was deemed an encouraging sign earlier last year, but his complicated tax affairs had once been viewed as a possible barrier. And in February 2017, there was a slew of leaked emails showing the former footballer had appeared to unleash a barrage of expletives criticising the honours committee that had once again left him off the list for a coveted gong. There was also an alleged 2013 leaked email, when, bitter not to be knighted, he complained about Katherine Jenkins, fuming 'Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops. Plus taking coke. F****** joke.' Sir Rod Stewart joked last summer that Beckham's knighthood was 'coming soon'. The rock star, 80, received his own knighthood in 2016 and made the quip as he appeared at the inaugural King's Foundation awards ceremony in London alongside his wife Penny Lancaster.

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster's undeniable chemistry on show in resurfaced clip

and Sutton Foster 's palpable chemistry is on full display in a recently resurfaced clip. The Aussie A-lister, 56, went public with Sutton, 50, in January after months of speculation about a romance. However, a clip from 2022, uploaded to TikTok, shows the co-stars going 'off-script' for a flirtatious exchange The clip, uploaded by user shows the pair on stage during a performance of the Broadway musical The Music Man. The plot revolves around Foster's character Marian Paroo, falling for charming con man Harold Hill, played by the Wolverine star. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. While a certain amount of chemistry is required to pull off the on-stage relationship, it appears the co-stars went above and beyond in the resurfaced clip. The video shows the future couple in a tense exchange on stage that is punctuated by Foster briskly shoving Jackman in frustration. However, in a 'fourth wall' breaking moment, Jackman goes off script and playfully begins to sashay toward his co-star while beginning to remove his jacket. The display caused Foster to break character too, laughing along with the audience at Hugh's flirtatious advance The caption on the video read: 'If you're surprised by Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, let me remind you this is how freaked out they were during Music Man in 2022.' While the audience appeared to be enjoying the playful exchange, it was a sentiment not shared by many in the comments. Fans were quick to slam the pair for 'ruining' the scene with the cheeky improvisation. 'I saw this production,' one commented. 'Their consistent breaking of the fourth wall and mugging to the audience really ruined a wonderful musical. I was very disappointed.' Another chimed in with a similar: 'I saw it too and felt the same way. It was awful how many times they broke the fourth wall. It turned slapstick.' Others claimed the exchange was not as spontaneous as the actors might have you believe. 'They did this little 'fake break' every night,' one theatre fan suggested, while another offered: 'The fact that this 'break' was written into the production is so embarrassing.' One fan however, was quick to come to the co-stars' defence with: 'No one in these comments knows how to have fun. 'I saw this production twice and thought they were funny and charming and it's the only time I've ever like Marion.' Jackman and Foster went public with their relationship in January this year after splitting from their respective partners. The Wolverine star split with his wife of 27 years, Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023, while Foster filed for divorce from her husband Ted Griffin in October 2024. The resurfaced clip comes after Furness opened up about her feelings of 'betrayal' in a blistering statement to the Daily Mail. Their split appeared to turn bitter when she spoke about her 'traumatic journey of betrayal' in the wake of her divorce filing last month. 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' she said. 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.' She continued: 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. 'I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. 'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.' She concluded her statement with the 'one thing' she has learned, which is 'that none of this is personal.' Hugh has yet to release his own statement on the split, but a source told the Daily Mail he had been left 'extremely disappointed' by Deborra-Lee's words as he believed they had an 'understanding' they would not publicly trash one another. 'There was no stipulation that she could not address this but there was an unwritten understanding that she would not trash him to the press,' an insider said. 'She got around this by not naming him - instead focusing on how she felt.'

Brazen squatters watch TV in retiree's home while he gives news interview

A family of brazen squatters were filmed sleeping and watching television in a retiree's home while a news crew interviewed him about his property being taken over. The squatters had been living in the house for a year, after one moved in via a property listing before inviting his family to join him while homeowner Adrian was away visiting his dying mother. A film crew from Australian news show A Current Affair admonished the 'audacity' of the group, who had installed curtains to create makeshift bedrooms and refused to leave even while cameras were rolling.
