Caitlin Clark grateful for WNBA All-Star Game fan voting support
The WNBA revealed on Friday that Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark leads the league in the first returns of WNBA All-Star Game fan voting.
Fever teammates Aliyah Boston (No. 3), Kelsey Mitchell (No. 7) and Lexie Hull (No. 9) join Clark inside the top 10 of the initial fan voting returns.
While Clark was clear it's not she and the Fever's end goal, Indiana's star guard shared her appreciation for the fan voting that she and her teammates have already received.
"I mean, it is what it is, you know. People get so hyped up over that, but, you know, that's not why you play the game. I think it's a fun way to get the fans involved and really passionate about All-Star. It gets them excited. Makes them feel involved. It's a fun aspect to have, but you know, for us as players, that's not the reason you play, and it's really only 50% of the vote.
"But it is cool, and it's also cool for me to see how much love my teammates also get. I think we have four in the top 10, so… You know, whether who ends up being an All-Star or not, it's still cool to see the type of love that you get from the fans," Clark said.
The voting numbers' makeup is as follows: Fans account for 50%, while all current players and a media panel will account for 25% each.
Through her seven games played this season, Clark averages 19.9 points, 8.7 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game on 41.7% shooting from the field, 35.5% from 3-point territory and 79.4% from the free throw line.
It looks like the WNBA could be pacing for record fan voting numbers, which Clark is excited to see.
"It seems like it's certainly going to set some sort of record for the amount of votes cast compared to last year, if I'm not mistaken. I feel like we're on track for that, which just shows how much engagement we're driving across the league for all different sorts of players and teams.
"And, you know, that's exactly what the league needs, is people are excited about that type of stuff and wanting to be involved, feeling like their vote really counts, and feeling like they can make an impact on All-Star Games. So, it's really exciting to see, and hopefully as we continue to grow here year after year after year," Clark said.
Per the WNBA's website, the fan voting window will close on Saturday, June 28, at 10:59 p.m. CT.

Sophie Cunningham slams WNBA treatment of Fever guard Caitlin Clark
Superstars in the sporting world are treated differently from their colleagues. Fair or not, it is just the way the world of sports works. They get scrutinized, treated differently by refs, treated differently by fans, and ultimately receive special treatment, sometimes in negative and positive ways, from opposing teams. Caitlin Clark is a certified superstar and the face of the WNBA, which subjects her to all of the above. Most recently, things got testy in the Indiana Fever's WNBA game against the Connecticut Sun, and tempers flared around Caitlin Clark. In response, Clark's teammate on the Indiana Fever, Sophie Cunningham, leaned into being a force of backup for Clark as she was seemingly fed up with the treatment that the star guard was receiving. She spoke up to the media about the unfair treatment Caitlin Clark is getting from the WNBA. "During that, it was just part of the game. I think the refs had a lot to do with that. It was a build of for a couple of years now of them just not protecting, you know, the star player of the WNBA. So, at the end of the day, I'm going to protect my teammates. That's what I do, and I'm a team player," Cunningham said. Since the spat against the Sun, the Fever dropped their most recent game to the Golden State Valkyries to drop them to 6-6 on the season. Cunningham's defense of Clark has proven to excite fans of the WNBA and the Indiana Fever. Her jersey has since sold out on the Indiana Fever's official team store, while her social media followings have exploded. Kevin Durant stunned to find out he was traded to Houston Rockets
The trade of All-Star forward Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets came as a surprise to many NBA observers – including Durant himself. The four-time scoring champion and 2014 league MVP was on stage for an interview session on the final day of Fanatics Fest in New York City when he found out he was being dealt to Houston. In return, the Suns will receive Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks, USA TODAY Sports has confirmed. Even Durant wasn't sure the news was real. BREAKING: Kevin Durant was traded to the Houston Rockets while he was ON STAGE at Fanatics had no clue and even asked if it was his first reaction to being traded: 'We're gonna see man, we're gonna see.' "We're gonna see man," Durant said. "We're gonna see." This marks the third time in his career Durant has been traded. The Golden State Warriors traded him and a first-round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets in July 2019 for Treveon Graham, Shabazz Napier and D'Angelo Russell. The Nets sent him to Phoenix in February 2023 as part of a four-team blockbuster with the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers.
