European Elegance Meets American Muscle at Lucky Collector Car Auction Spring Classic 2025
Read the full story on Modern Car Collector
A trio of rare, transcontinental classics will cross the block at the Lucky Collector Car Auction's Spring Classic 2025, showcasing the golden era of European design married to American muscle. These historically significant vehicles—a , a , and a —are each offered without reserve, promising an exciting opportunity for collectors.
A quintessential example of 1970s grand touring opulence, this combines Italian bodywork, British chassis engineering, and American power. It's powered by a Chrysler 440cid V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The 90,000-mile example was held in a museum collection since 1993 and features metallic brown paint with a matching convertible top. Modernized Recaro seats and a light leather interior add comfort, while a wood-rimmed steering wheel nods to classic style. Among all Interceptor variants, the convertible remains the most sought-after.
One of only approximately in 1953, this numbers-matching Nash-Healey represents a pioneering transatlantic collaboration. Fitted with the original 252cid 'Dual Jetfire' inline-six engine and 3-speed manual with overdrive, it's a blend of British engineering, Italian craftsmanship, and American drivetrain components. Finished in white over red with a beige soft top, this particular Roadster sits on chassis #2363 and retains engine block NHA1378, which is scheduled for a rebuild. With just 506 Nash-Healeys produced in total, this early Le Mans contender and Hollywood favorite is an extremely rare and valuable collectible.
A limited-production luxury coupe—one of just 90 FV3Bs built—this 1958 Facel Vega FV3B was originally ordered in France and retains its factory color combination of Grey over Red leather. While it originally came with a Chrysler Hemi and a rare Pont-à-Mousson manual gearbox, it now runs a 1970 340ci Chrysler V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic. With only six miles traveled in the past 14 years, this coupe exudes European elegance with American muscle under the hood, and represents a perfect candidate for continued preservation or return to period-correct configuration.
These three offerings headline a diverse lineup at the Lucky Collector Car Auction's Spring Classic, celebrating unique transcontinental partnerships that helped shape the post-war automotive landscape.
These interesting classics and many others are being sold at the Spring Classic 2025 Auto Auction taking place Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, Jun 1 at the LeMay Marymount Event Center.

Aston Martin Celebrates Summertime Cruising with One-Off DB12 Palm Beach Edition
A drop-top in a warm state like California or Florida is never a bad recipe for a good time. Make that drop-top an Aston Martin, and the good times increase tenfold. The British automaker seems to have taken note of this and recently revealed the one-of-one "Palm Beach Edition DB12 Volante," a special edition of their powerful V8 sports car created in collaboration with Aston Martin's Q division and Aston Martin Palm Beach. "This extraordinary DB12 Volante model perfectly encapsulates the understated elegance of both Palm Beach and Aston Martin," said Pedro Mota, Regional President of Aston Martin The Americas. "Through a collaboration with Q by Aston Martin and Aston Martin Palm Beach, we have created an exceptional sports car that merges stunning performance, artistry, and luxury." The Palm Beach Edition DB12 Volante sports a unique Frosted Glass Blue paint job with ample shimmer in the topcoat to remind you of the sun at your favorite South Florida beachside spot. Word around town is that Aston Martin hand-sprayed the paint onto the car to get the effect, and that's the kind of attention to detail we can't be mad at. The interior carries a matching Aurora Blue scheme with Ivory Leather and contrasting Spicy Red stitching. Here's where it gets better, though. The dash, center console, doors, and seatbacks feature book-matched Linear Light Olive Ash wood trim for that perfect beach cabana vibe anywhere you are in the car. The last few special touches include Palm Beach's latitude and longitude coordinates embossed onto the leather dashboard, as well as a palm-leaf motif spread throughout the cabin. All of this isn't to say that the Aston Martin Palm Beach Edition DB12 Volante is all show and no go. Underneath that gorgeous, long hood is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 making 671 horsepower through an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Aston estimates that the DB12 can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 202 mph, so we'd hold on to our hats if we were you. Yes, we know, the V12 of the DB11 is gone, but hey, at least it's not electric. Aston did not reveal a pricing figure for the bespoke one-off, nor who commissioned it, but given that the regular DB12 Volante starts at $271,825, we'd rather not know its price tag. It's always fun seeing what automakers' bespoke divisions can create for their most distinguished clients. If you want the most opulent vehicle that money can buy, you'll likely go to Rolls-Royce's bespoke department. If you want a sports car with a color that pops, Porsche's Paint-to-Sample program would likely be pretty high on that list. Aston Martin's Q department doesn't often make headlines, but if they keep making cars like the Palm Beach Edition DB12 Volante, we can see how that would easily change. 10 Car Brands That Should Be Affected the Least by Trump's Tariffs
Since even American-made cars contain foreign-made parts, all vehicle prices are expected to be impacted by the tariffs enacted by President Donald Trump. A new analysis conducted by Jerry found that auto tariffs could add an average estimated 13.7% — or $5,009 — to the price of nonluxury vehicles. Find Out: Read Next: However, some brands could be more impacted than others — and it's not necessarily foreign cars that might see the largest price increases. 'Rather than favoring domestic brands, the new tariff policy favors localizers,' the Jerry report states. 'This means the Toyota Corolla gets roughly the same treatment as domestic brands, because it is primarily assembled in the U.S. Even so, imported components leave a residual charge on every vehicle, driving prices up for consumers.' According to Jerry, these car brands could be impacted by tariffs the least. Are we nearing the end of Barcelona's run as an F1 city? Madrid addition puts race in doubt
MONTMELO, Spain (AP) — Barcelona may be quickly approaching its end as a Formula 1 city after more than three decades of racing in northeastern Spain. The grand prix is under contract through next year, but the addition of a race in Madrid also in 2026 has put a bullseye on the event that has been held near Barcelona since 1991. F1 has trended toward adding urban and temporary circuits, which offer spectators the services and attractions of a city and are not difficult to get to. That push was behind the announcement last year that Spain's capital would get its own race on a temporary circuit. Miquel Sàmper, who is president of the largely publicly-owned Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the regional minister for business and labor for Catalonia, visited the paddock ahead qualifying for the Spanish GP on Saturday. He told reporters that negotiations were ongoing with F1 to keep the race on the calendar in 2027 but they would take maximum discretion and, most importantly, time, just like 'the best cooking.' 'This will only go well if we are discrete,' Sàmper said. 'There are lots of possible options, and that is making this take longer. We are analyzing each and every one for its pros and cons, and keeping in mind the circumstances: there are more and more countries that want grand prixs.' Two races for Spain? F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali said during the presentation of the Madrid event in January 2024 that that the arrival of new race wouldn't rule out keeping the Barcelona event on the calendar. Spain did briefly host two races when it had the European Grand Prix on a street circuit in Valencia from 2008-12. But Italy appears set to lose Imola, leaving it just the Monza race, as F1 expands in the United States, where it now holds three races, and seeks out new fans beyond the already tapped-out European market. When asked by The Associated Press if F1 had slammed the hood on the possibility of having two races in Spain, Sàmper said he couldn't comment. The Madrid race will become the Spanish Grand Prix, meaning that next year's race in Catalonia will have to get a new name. Sàmper said that is still being talked about with F1 as well. Drivers defend Barcelona Fernando Alonso made an impassioned defense of Barcelona on Thursday, going so far as to predict that it would stay on the calendar. 'It's good to have new countries as well that Formula 1 has moved to in the last decade. But at the same time, we need to keep some traditional circuits where the history of Formula 1 has been written and made,' the Spanish two-time champion said. Those bits of F1 history include a memorable duel between Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna as they jousted side by side down pitlane during the first Barcelona race. And for modern fans, current F1 champion Max Verstappen became the youngest race winner at age 18 on this track. 'For F1 in general," Verstappen said this week, 'it would be a bit of a loss, of course, if this track goes.' The circuit is considered a good standard track with high-speed and medium-speed turns. It has been regularly used for winter testing as well. The thinking goes: if your car performs here, it should perform well in most fixed tracks. Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton both won six times on this circuit as they amassed world titles. Hamilton agreed it is a 'classic' race, while adding it would be difficult for Madrid to build a better track. 'Building a new circuit is hit or miss, and 95% of the time it is worse,' Hamilton said. 'But as long as we have a good as circuit then it is OK.' Things to improve The 4.66-kilometer (2.89-mile) Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya layout is not conducive to overtaking. The best chance trailing drivers have is usually at the very start on the long run to the first turn. Officials have invested in recent years to improve facilities, but it still is difficult to get to despite being located on a hill above the working-class town of Montmelo some 30 kilometers (18 miles) north of Barcelona. Roads and commuter trains are overwhelmed by the more than 100,000 fans who come on race day. ___
