Serena Williams's Husband, Alexis Ohanian, Had The Best Response To Criticism Of Her Viral Appearance In Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime Show

Yahoo11-02-2025

Serena Williams's husband, Alexis Ohanian, is hitting back at criticism of her appearance in Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime Show.
If you missed it, Serena made a super brief yet significant appearance toward the end of Kendrick's performance. While he was rapping 'Not Like Us,' his famous diss track at Drake, the cameras panned over to Serena, who was Crip Walking over the catchy beat.
Several fans online immediately pointed out that Serena's Crip Walk felt hugely significant, given that she faced a heap of scrutiny for doing the same dance at Wimbledon in 2012.
If you didn't know, the Crip Walk is a dance move that originated in Serena's hometown, Compton, in the '70s. Serena performed the move in celebration after winning against fellow tennis player Maria Sharapova, though she was sadly criticized for it and accused of 'glamorizing gang culture.' About a decade prior, her older sister was killed by a Southside Crips member.
At the same time, a ton of social media users suggested that Serena dancing to 'Not Like Us' felt like a very pointed jab at Drake, given that they were romantically linked back in the day.
It's important to note that Drake has mentioned Serena in his song lyrics more than once since they were rumored to be dating about a decade ago. In 2022, for example, he branded her husband a 'groupie' on his song 'Middle of the Ocean.'
Media personality Stephen A. Smith was among those calling Serena out for seemingly making a jab at Drake by dancing on stage with Kendrick, suggesting on ESPN's chat show First Take that he'd divorce her over the move if he were her husband.
'If I'm married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass, 'cause clearly you don't belong with me,' he said. 'What you worried about him for and you're with me? Bye. Bye.'
Stephen's comments sparked a divide online, and before long, Serena's *actual* husband Alexis (aka her number one fan) entered the conversation.
If you didn't know, Alexis and Serena have been married since 2017. They share two daughters: Olympia and Adira.
Taking to X, Alexis described the Super Bowl halftime show as 'pretty fantastic' before pointing out the importance of Serena's Crip Walk.
Twitter: @alexisohanian
'Some of y'all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows.... This is bigger than the music,' the Reddit cofounder tweeted.
Later replying directly to a tweet from the New York Post about Stephen's divisive comments, Alexis hilariously wrote, 'I got you @stephenasmith,' alongside a link to his tweet about the significance of Serena's dance.
Loads of fans have since praised Alexis's response. One person wrote, 'He does NOT play about his wife,' while another echoed, 'I love the way you don't play about Serena.'
'I came here knowing @alexisohanian would respond in the best way possible. Everyone should be lucky enough to have someone who has their back the way he has @serenawilliams,' one more tweet read.
I told you that Alexis is Serena's number one fan! I love this unbothered response from him. LMK your thoughts in the comments below.

Stephen A. Smith claps back at haters for Pacers-Thunder Game 4 Solitaire picture

The post Stephen A. Smith claps back at haters for Pacers-Thunder Game 4 Solitaire picture appeared first on ClutchPoints. Stephen A. Smith was sitting courtside at Gainbridge Fieldhouse during Game 4 of the 2025 NBA Finals, but he wasn't focused on the game. Instead, a fan captured him mid-game playing Solitaire on his phone while the Oklahoma City Thunder faced off against the Indiana Pacers. Advertisement The viral moment started when a fan nearby took a clear photo of the ESPN personality engrossed in his phone during the live action. The post quickly gained traction, with some wondering if the picture was taken during a timeout. X user @BleedBlue1986, who originally shared the photo on social media, later included location data confirming it was taken while the game was ongoing. It didn't take long for social media to react. One user commented, 'No way ESPN pays him 100 million and he's playing Solitaire.' Another referred to Smith's previous remarks about Pacers' star Tyrese Haliburton, saying, ''Tyrese Haliburton isn't a superstar.' Plays solitaire during the NBA Finals.' Others found humor in the situation. 'How many millions did ESPN pay SAS to cover this game?' one fan joked. Media personalities joined in as well. Barstool Big Cat responded with 'Oh no!' while Portland's Danny Marang tweeted, 'If this is real, so help me God.' Winnipeg Jets writer Connor Hrabchak added, 'After seeing this, ESPN just cut a few more talented people for Stephen A to have his own Solitaire show at 4:00 every day.' Advertisement The timing of the photo led to even more conversations. A fan sitting directly in front of Smith shared his image and clarified: 'I'm sitting right in front of him. This isn't during a timeout. It's during the game.' Later that night, Smith responded on X. He confirmed the image was real but said it was taken during a break. 'Yep! That's me,' he wrote. 'Who would've thought… I can multi-task. Especially during TIMEOUTS!' He ended his post with a nod to the series: 'Hope y'all are enjoying the NBA Finals. This is going 7 games now, peeps!' Regardless of the exact moment, the photo quickly became one of the night's most discussed moments, not for what happened on the court, but for what unfolded in the front row. Bryan Cranston reveals his disgusting 'SNL' sketch idea as host that was 'immediately shut down'

Six-time Emmy-winning actor Bryan Cranston, currently seen making elaborate basketball shots in The Phoenician Scheme, stopped by the Fly on the Wall podcast studio to gab with David Spade and Dana Carvey this week. Naturally, the conversation turned to when Cranston hosted Saturday Night Live back in 2010. While SNL maintains a robust writing staff, the official policy is to allow, even encourage, the guest stars to pitch ideas for their appearances. (It's tough coming up with new sketches week to week, so any help is welcome, we suppose.) This does not mean, however, that these suggestions automatically get greenlit, as Cranston soon learned. "I just wanted to do anything. I had a couple pitches for them," Cranston told the two SNL alumni. "I pitched ideas which were almost immediately shut down. I had a great pitch." Cranston continued with this "great pitch." You be the judge: "So: myself and a date and another couple. We can't believe we got reservations for this restaurant. It's supposed to be amazing. It's called In the Sauce, and it's like, wow. And this very snooty waiter comes in and says, 'Are you ready?' Can we see a menu? 'No. We don't give menus. We serve you food. You eat the food. You leave.' You know? It's like, oh, okay. Yes. Yes. Yes." So far, so good. We are primed for some comedy. What's coming next? "And they say," Cranston went on, "'It's all about the sauce.' So he puts down a crudite, and we dip it in the sauce, and it's, like, oh my god. Just amazing. Crudite is taken away. Here comes the entree. You're eating the entree. We're eating. Oh my god, this sauce is absolutely insane. We're overeating. We eat too much. We throw up." It gets better! "We dip the barf in the sauce. Oh my god. It's all about the sauce. It's like no matter what you're eating, as long as the sauce is good. It's like, you have a severed finger and you dip it in the sauce and it's still good." Cranston concluded, "It didn't get past the Monday meeting," before adding, "I truncated that pitch. It goes much longer." Heaven only knows where Cranston came up with such a repulsive idea, but it is possible he was inspired in some way by the legendary character Mr. Creosote from the 1983 film Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. One could argue that this sketch is a pointed commentary about class inequality, or you could also say it was Python's attempt to make everyone in the audience as sick to their stomach as possible. You can take a look at it below, but don't watch this at work. Honestly, don't watch this at all. Well, with that fresh in your mind, you can now move ahead and listen to more of Bryan Cranston with the Fly on the Wall fellas by clicking the link below. "I can multi-task, especially during TIMEOUTS" - Stephen A. Smith lies while addressing viral photo of him playing solitaire during Game 4 of 2025 Finals

"I can multi-task, especially during TIMEOUTS" - Stephen A. Smith lies while addressing viral photo of him playing solitaire during Game 4 of 2025 Finals originally appeared on Basketball Network. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith was at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to watch Game 4 of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers. But while he was supposed to pay close attention to what was happening on the basketball court in order to analyze the game correctly, he was caught playing solitaire on his phone while the game was underway. Advertisement When the photo went viral, Smith immediately took to X (formerly Twitter) to defend himself by saying he was merely looking for something else to do during a timeout. "Yep! That's me," wrote Smith. "Who would've thought… I can multi-task. Especially during TIMEOUTS! Hope y'all are enjoying the NBA Finals. This is going 7 games now, peeps!" Caught in a lie Another netizen roasted Smith with a video of the incident — it was clear that he was playing the card game on his phone while the basketball game was underway. Stephen A. then posted a second tweet — a screenshot of his mobile phone screen, trying to show that he was half playing games and half watching the Finals. Kevin Durant, one of the players who has been beefing with Smith for a long time, couldn't help but react by reposting the photo on his Instagram account. Smith infamously called Durant's signing with the Golden State Warriors in 2016 the "weakest move" by an NBA superstar. Last year, he also questioned Durant's ability to lead a team and the superstar forward went on to call Smith a "clown." Smith vs. Haliburton Most recently, Smith beefed with Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton after the latter criticized the NBA media after Game 3. Advertisement The Pacers star called out the NBA talking heads, saying most of them don't know anything about basketball. Even if Haliburton did not target a specific name in his criticism, Smith assumed that he was talking about him. Instead of answering Hali's comments with arguments, Smith boasted about his 30-year broadcasting career and warned Haliburton that many have criticized him, but no one has ever shut him down. "Unfortunately, a lot of guys are not as fortunate as I am from this standpoint," Smith said. "They have to talk to you. I don't get paid to talk to you. I get paid to talk about you. Whether I speak or whatever it is, you don't stop this train. It is a locomotive because, you know, we've been No.1 for 13 straight years." Unfortunately, Haliburton hasn't reacted to the video of Smith playing solitaire during Game 4 of the Finals. After all, he has more important things on his mind. Advertisement The Pacers allowed the Thunder to steal Game 4 111-104 after a late comeback led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The series is now tied at two games apiece.
