Another day, another chance for showers and storms. Skies remain unsettled with spotty activity as we start the day. There is more rain to our south in Oklahoma that will move into the area.
A risk of a strong to severe storm will be confined to Southwest Kansas and the southeast corner of the area.
There is also still a threat of flooding to the southeast. Kay County in Oklahoma and Chautauqua County remain under a Flood Watch through Thursday morning.
Rainfall through the first half of the day will favor Central and Eastern Kansas.
Late in the afternoon and during the evening there will be a few new storms that develop and move into Western Kansas. Spotty activity will last through the night and into Thursday.
High temperatures today will be near average in the upper 60s and low 70s.
The chance for rain will be lower during the day Thursday.
A cluster of showers and storms will move in from the west Thursday night.
As storms initially move into extreme Southwest Kansas and our Oklahoma Panhandle Counties we will need to keep an eye on them.
Rain and rumbles favor the southern half of the area as they track west to east through the night and into Friday.
With the exception of the early morning hours, Friday is expected to be drier. The chance for showers and storms will be low over the weekend but another active pattern takes shape by next week.

Forecast: Rain chances and heat

The timeline steps you into Monday: Lows Saturday night will stay fairly mild. We do have shower chances ahead… mainly in the south Sunday afternoon, and mainly in the north Monday. The slideshow below shows the timing, including another rain chance on a warmer Thursday. Severe chances remain low, as seen via Colorado State's severe weather algorithm below. We'll have enough heat and moisture, but winds aloft won't be supportive of strong storms. Warmer highs for the next six days are above, and your WHO 13 7-day forecasts below: The extended outlooks below keep us in hotter temperatures and above-average rain chances, so more like summer in Iowa.
