. In an interview with ELLE UK, Ryder reflected on her time working with Pacino on Looking for Richard and Simone, revealing that she once confessed her love to him only to be turned down because of her age.
Coffee, Shakespeare, and a crush that lingered
During a workshop for Richard III, which Ryder had no idea would become a movie, she developed a growing admiration for Pacino. She remembered how Pacino, a self-described coffee lover, would take her on impromptu coffee-hopping excursions throughout New York City. At the time, she was around 22 and felt deeply drawn to him.
After one such outing, Ryder decided to share her feelings. She told him she was completely in love with him.
Pacino responded with kindness but declined, gently saying something along the lines of 'Aw, honey, noooo'.
The irony that followed
Years later, Ryder met Pacino's girlfriend who apparently turned out to be younger than she had been when she confessed her feelings. She joked about the irony, saying she had thrown herself at him only to be rejected for being 'too young.'
Despite the rejection, Ryder said she and Pacino remain close friends.
They still play poker together occasionally, and she described their continued bond as 'the best.'
