I'm slim thicc and did a huge summer Primark haul – clever £8 tops solve all my problems

The Sun23-04-2025

A SELF-PROFESSED Primark addict has revealed the £8 buy she swears by to get through summer.
Carla Kent, 27, regularly delights her 48,000 TikTok followers (@carlakentx) with her clothing hauls and shopping sprees.
She describes herself as "your petite curvy bestie" and loves to help shoppers find outfits that flatter their shape.
And the makeup artist, from Glasgow, enjoys a good rummage around the bargain high street store in particular.
She previously said: "There's nothing I love more than walking about Primark for hours and looking through every single rail and finding goodies."
But in a recent video she admitted it's been a "hot minute" since she's done a haul, which led to her walking out with three full bags.
First up, Carla snapped up two £1 belts - in brown and black - which she hailed as "very good and handy", and a rugby shirt which she cut for a more cropped look.
The brunette beauty also topped up her summer holiday wardrobe with some bargain buys.
Carla, who you may recognise from BBC reality show The Agency: Unfiltered, said: "I'm going away in a couple weeks, I can't wait.
"I want to just have staple holiday wardrobe. I don't like to have crazy things anymore. I buy things that I'm going to use multiple times."
She picked up a monochromed stripe shorts co-ord, a £12 bandeau leopard print playsuit, white linen shorts for £10, a white bikini and a cream lace shirt which she says is "giving Zara vibes".
And she revealed that she tops up on one lightweight item every summer without fail.
"I get these trousers every year when I go to Primark around holiday time because they're so easy to shove on", she said.
"Just little linen [trouser]. They're the lightest thing ever, the lightest material ever. £12, size large."
But it's an £8 buy that Carla was most excited about thanks to its genius feature.
She said: "I bought these little built-in bra tops I swear by. I can't get enough of these. It's genius.
"It's literally got a built-in bra inside because I hate wearing bras.
"I don't know about anyone else but I'm a weirdo. I hate wearing underwear, underwear riles me up.
"I don't wear it, absolutely despise wearing underwear so it's built in.
Easy days."
If this has inspired you to dash to your nearest Primark, you may also want to keep an eye out for the dress version of the built-in bra tops.
The racerback design makes it a versatile two-in-one dress – perfect for a casual day out when paired with trainers or sandals, or ideal for a lunch outing when styled with heels or wedges, and it's only £14.
Talking about the dress, which comes in four different designs, Primark suggested: 'Layer with an oversized denim jacket and trainers for a relaxed daytime look.
"Or dress it up with heeled sandals and statement earrings for evening plans.'
The video, which has already gained 1.5 million views on TikTok after just one day, was captioned: 'Summer sorted.'
It has also received 35,000 likes, with 175 people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One wrote: 'My problems are solved.'
A second added: 'For summer these will be amazing!
'Who wants to wear a bra under a dress – sensory and sweaty overload.'
And a third simply said: 'Okay, I'll go to Primark later.'

Helen Skelton's romance with Gethin Jones gets steamy as he treats her to a country club spa date

Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones enjoyed a romantic date at a country house spa this week, as romance speculation continues to grow. BBC Morning Live co-stars Gethin, 47, and Helen, 41, have found themselves at the centre of romance rumours as news of their reported relationship circulated last month. And on Monday the pair were spotted getting cosy at a spa, after Gethin treated Helen to a date at his local country club. An insider has revealed of the flirty date: 'Gethin and Helen were all over each other. They are clearly super comfortable with each other and it wasn't just like two friends hanging out.' 'Helen was really laughing and smiling as they spent time together before heading off in the late afternoon,' they added to The Sun. Gethin and Helen both appear on BBC show on week day mornings, with the date said to have taken place after they left the Manchester studio together. Gethin lives in Altrincham in south Manchester after relocating from London back in 2022. Helen meanwhile is based in Cumbria with her children Ernie, nine, Louis, eight, and Elsie, three, who she shares with her ex-husband Richie Myler. The TV stars were pictured leaving the Bafta TV Awards together this month but they first fuelled romance rumours in March with their joint 24-hour roller-skating challenge for Comic Relief. During the challenge, Gethin publicly praised Helen's resilience and sense of humour. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he shared his admiration for her, revealing he called her within an hour of the event ending to debrief. Gushing over how much he enjoyed spending time with Helen, Gethin also let slip a secret nickname he has for her, as he captioned a snap of the star sporting a red nose with 'famous ferret'. Fans quickly picked up on their connection, with one writing: 'You two belong together. Love you guys. Epic challenge, a pleasure to watch.' Another commented: 'Cooooome on!!! It's staring you both in the face!!' The pair have since been seen at several high-profile events, including a charity ball, where their relaxed and cosy demeanour again caught attention. While neither Gethin nor Helen has confirmed the rumours, their growing closeness continues to keep fans guessing. Helen announced her separation from her husband Richie Myler, 35, in 2022 just four months after the birth of their third child. The split reportedly came as a shock, leaving Helen blindsided. Sharing the news on Instagram at the time, she wrote: 'Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.' Following the separation, Helen relocated with her three children to her hometown in Cumbria, focusing on her family and career. She later appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022, which she credited the show with helping her navigate the emotional aftermath of her marriage breakdown. Following Helen and Richie's abrupt separation, the rugby player started a new relationship and welcomed two more children. Gethin, meanwhile, has been single for two years having briefly dated First Dates star Cici Coleman in 2023. Previously, he had romances with TOWIE's Lucy Mecklenburgh in 2014 and German underwear model Katja Zwara in 2017. But his most serious relationship was with Welsh opera star Katherine Jenkins who he dated for four years from 2007.

Kylie Jenner's £4.40 brow gel is worth the hype but watch out for one thing

Kylie Jenner's go-to brow gel costs less than a fiver and has been a staple in my makeup routine for a while now - but there's one slight downside to the product Kylie Jenner 's TikTok account has become a treasure trove for beauty-obsessed fans looking to upgrade their makeup and skincare routines with the latest celebrity-favourite products. From promoting the latest from her own beauty brand Kylie Cosmetics, to sharing exactly how she gets her wavy hairstyle, with the help of her hairstylist, Kylie is sharing all of her beauty tips and tricks on the social media app. But I found that her latest recommendation, the got2b Glued 4 Brows & Edges 2in1 Gel, is a product that's long been a part of my makeup routine - and for good reason too. Kylie showed off her most recent makeup routine in a 'get ready with me' upload, and prepped her brows with the gel, which you can get your hands on for just over a fiver in your local supermarket and your closest Boots or Superdrug store. The gel is practically invisible, vegan friendly, free of silicones and alcohol and is dermatologically tested, so you can trust that your skin won't react badly, despite this product offering a super strong hold for your brows and edges for up to 72 hours. It's made of the same 'Glued' formula that you'll find in got2Be's iconic hairspray, which is often used to keep slick back buns frizz free and even hold wigs in place all day long. Help us improve our content by completing the survey below. We'd love to hear from you! My review of got2b Glued 4 Brows & Edges 2in1 Gel I've been using the got2b Glued 4 Brows & Edges 2in1 Gel for a long while now and I'm currently on my second purchase as it quickly became a staple in my everyday makeup routine. I usually apply the gel before my foundation and allow it to fully dry for brows that won't budge all day long. Not only does the gel last all day, but a little goes a long way, so you can be sure to have this as part of your beauty bag for a long while before you run out and have to repurchase. I haven't used the gel on my edges so I can't speak for their hold there, but for my brows, which can be quite unruly at times, this is the best product to tame and keep them neat. Pros and cons of got2b Glued 4 Brows & Edges 2in1 Gel Pros Super strong hold Quick-drying Hold lasts well over 24hrs Cons Slight flaking if there's excess product left on the skin I've found that a white residue appears if mixed with foundation or SPF Where to buy got2b Glued 4 Brows & Edges 2in1 Gel

People are just now learning the little-known Monopoly rule that could make the game end twice as fast

People have been left gobsmacked after discovering a lesser-known Monopoly rule that has the power to change the entire game - and make it end twice as fast. The host of the Triple M Breakfast radio show, Australian-born Beau Ryan, revealed the nifty trick during an episode that aired earlier this year. The instigator of hundreds of festive family rows, Monopoly is a popular board-game that's as well-known for its hours'-long play time as it is for sparking squabbles among competitive players. And while partly due to the impatience of its participants, some of the anguish in Monopoly can be blamed on its elusive rules - with many around the world seemingly playing by different guidelines. Speaking during the show, broadcast to Sydney locals, Beau said he'd had a huge 'realisation the other day' during a game with his son - in a clip shared on TikTok. Taking his turn, Beau found his piece landing on Park Lane, one of the more expensive and sought after 'properties' on the board With a higher value and rent afforded to other players who land on the square, it's often snapped up by strategic players, but not Beau on this occasion. He was shocked then, when after announcing he wouldn't be buying it, that his son piped up and said he'd like to purchase it instead. Baffled by the bid to buy the property, Beau said 'Hang on champion, you can't buy that, you didn't land on it.' Responding and correcting his father on the rules of the game, Beau's son said he could buy via 'auction'. Refusing to take the bait, the radio host was initially convinced his son was lying and only allowed him to buy the property when upon looking up the rules, realised he was right all along. 'I said that's not the rules but then I got them - and it is in the rules,' he continued. 'If anyone playing lands on a property in Monopoly, and they don't buy it, the other plays can auction it,' he said, astounded by the discovery. Equally baffled, fellow co-host Cat Lynch said: 'I didn't know that. You've blown my mind.' Having made the discovery, Beau wasn't convinced that the auction rules was something worth incorporating into gameplay. 'It ruins the game mate,' he countered. 'Because if you're not sure an then they say they're buying it, it turns into sort of an alpha situation.' A clip from the breakfast show, that aired in April this year, has since been shared on TikTok, where hundreds of exasperated Monopoly fans dashed to the comment section to express their surprise. 'Hold on a minute. Is this an Australian rule?' one viewer asked in disbelief. A second couldn't believe that it was the first some players were hearing of it, writing, 'how does no one know this, it's designed to make the game 2x quicker.' Another wrote: '99 per cent of people haven't read the rules of monopoly. Monopoly is an AWFUL game but if you play with the actual rules - all the rules - it's bearable and doesn't last hours.' 'Monopoly has been banned in my parents house since 1978 after one bro flipped the table and the other bro (banker) got into a fist fight,' one chimed. And it seems Beau's claims were correct. A clip from the breakfast show, that aired in April this year, has since been shared on TikTok, where hundreds of exasperated Monopoly fans dashed to the comment section to express their surprise According to the official Monopoly rules: 'Whenever a player lands on an unowned property he may buy that property from the Bank at its printed price [...] If he does not wish to buy the property it is sold at auction by the Banker to the highest bidder.' Monopoly fans were treated to a number of genius tactics last year, when money saving expert Martin Lewis shared his clever tricks for winning the game. Sharing the strategies on his ITV show, Martin Lewis: How to Win at Board Games, the money saving expert explained that there are several things you can do to beat other players and improve your odds. His first tip is to buy as many properties as possible during the early stages of the game. Martin said that it was also important to calculate the return on investment on each property, meaning how much you purchased it for versus how much you can earn back from rent. However, not all properties are created equal. Although the most expensive ones start out being the best investment, this changes once houses and hotels are added. Those wanting to win should aim to purchase the three light blue cards which are The Angel, Islington, Euston Road and Pentonville Road, as these can generate the most money once hotels are added to them. After that, he recommends swooping up the orange cards comprising of Vine Street, Marlborough Street, and Bow Street. Martin highlighted that these are the properties that players are most likely to land on after they've just gotten out of jail. The worst set to buy in his opinion are the pricey greens - including Bond Street, Oxford Street, and Regent Street. Therefore, Martin shared, it is vital to buy one of each colour, so you can block opponents and have some leverage when it comes to doing deals later down the line. Martin added that if you have cards that are not part of a set, you should mortgage them to the bank for extra money to buy houses, since they're unlikely to generate much income for you.
