Swansea City are keen admirers too, following O'Brien's sparkling spell on loan last term, but the financial demands of a move currently look to be beyond them. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is believed to be keen on squeezing out £8m from any sale of O'Brien, but sources have already indicated his stance could soften. Hull City previously looked to be the front-runners for the player's signature, having launched a similar bid to the second tier new boys. Further details emerge around Sousa bid Swansea City's success in bagging Cameron Burgess means they won't be reviving any move for Brazilian centre-back David Sousa. The Athletic reported the Swans made an unsuccessful bid for the 23-year-old, adding that Swansea and Belgian side Molenbeek were apart on their valuation of the player. WalesOnline understands Sousa was a indeed a figure of keen interest to the Swans, but was behind Burgess in their list of transfer priorities, meaning a move was taken off the table some time ago. Burgess is yet to link up with his new team-mates, who have been put through the paces in pre-season training this week at Fairwood. Diouf joins Mechelen Meanwhile, former Swansea City target Gora Diouf has signed for Belgian side Mechelen on a free transfer. The Swans had briefly made enquiries around the 21-year-old, who was a free agent after leaving Swiss side FC Sion. But it's understood he was never seen as a serious target, with Swansea instead opting to sign Burgess and Ricardo Santos in a bid to strengthen their centre-back options. Several other clubs from the Championship, along with Swiss giants Basel, were credited with an interest in Diouf, but it's Mechelen that have won the race for his signature. 'I don't need to draw a picture of this,' says director Tom Caluwe said. "This is a top transfer for our club. Gora has a profile that is highly sought after in today's football. This shows that Geel-Rood can be an interesting club for guys like Gora."
