Scots Masterchef star shares unique twist on tacos with tattie scones
A Glasgow -born chef who shot to fame on Masterchef Australia is winning over food lovers with her inventive takes on classic Scottish dishes, and her latest creation is causing a stir online.
Ali Stoner, who appeared on the 14th series of the hit cooking competition, has built a devoted following for her imaginative recipes that celebrate Scotland's culinary heritage. Through her popular Instagram page, The Roving Haggis, she has attracted more than 270,000 followers, sharing dishes inspired by her home city and the wider country.
Famed for her now-iconic 'Saltire Skirt', Stoner regularly puts a modern spin on traditional fare. This week, she unveiled her newest recipe for tattie scone tacos, which has quickly become a hit with fans.
Speaking about the dish, she said: 'Tacos are on repeat in my house, and the trend for these smash tacos has been all over social media, so here is one with a Scottish accent! The tattie scones are a perfect vehicle for soft delicious tacos, and I just love the combo of scallops and black pudding, perfect!'
Her recipe makes around 10 to 12 scones and is straightforward to prepare, with Stoner encouraging people to experiment with their own fillings.
While she recommends scallops and black pudding for her version, she notes that haggis or even taco mince would also work well.
The reaction from her followers has been overwhelmingly positive. One commented: 'Just when you think tattie scones are it… you go and make them even better!! These look amazing!!'
Born in Glasgow, Stoner now lives in Melbourne, Australia, with her family. The 54-year-old has become known for reimagining everything from stovies and lorne sausage to Irn-Bru cocktails and Glasgow-style pakora.
She has said her aim is not only to celebrate Scotland's food but also to evoke powerful memories for her audience.
She previously told Glasgow Live: 'What started to become clear (on my Instagram page) was that people were really enjoying the traditional Scottish dishes.
"I have had so many messages from people who have been brought to tears at the memory of something their parents or grandparents had made, and then recipes lost.
'It has been an incredibly inspiring and fulfilling journey so far, with so many more ideas to come.'
Stoner's approach to cooking blends nostalgia with creativity, breathing new life into dishes that many Scots remember from their childhood.

Taking to her Instagram story in a candid Q&A with fans, Paige lifted the lid after a fan asked her about the truth behind her looks. The American said: "There's been a lot of speculation over the cosmetic work that I've had done, so let's be transparent right now. "Yes, my face and body do look different than when I first started doing this. "One I am older and two I am 50 pounds heavier but this is all the work I've had done over a nine-year span." Paige revealed she had had no work done to her body, with all of it being real. However, her face has had its share of procedures. She explained: "I've had my nose done and then I've had filler work done in the past, but I don't think I have any filler left in my face right now. "I've done Botox before [but] I don't have any botox in my face currently. "I'll just do my upper forehead and sometimes around my eyes. According to the BBC, 27,462 cosmetic surgery procedures were conducted in the UK in 2024 - a five per cent rise on 2023 - with nine in ten of these surgeries being women. Boob jobs were the most popular treatment, followed by breast reduction surgery in second place. However, the figures indicate that much of the rise was driven by facial rejuvenation surgery, similar to what Paige admits to having had done.

Katie said she believes that she and Pete needs to come to hash things out to make life easier for their two kids - Princess and Junior, 20. "It's so not fair to bring princess piggy in the middle. So I think it's about time all of us adults just sit down and talk about what their beef is with me and just get over it," Katie said. "I haven't watched the show, but, people have told me how proud I should be of the kids and how they Princess does talk highly of me all the way through it so although I'm not in the show she speaks about me all the time which is really sweet but why wouldn't she because she lives with me and this is another thing I need to clear up, the kids have never lived just with Pete, we've shared the kids. "I am a bloody good mum. People can even see that with Harvey. "Like, I am a good mum and it's so much easier, I have found out, when you have a child on your own without the other half involved because I've never had a problem with Harvey. "It's just been me, the family, and Harvey. And I hate it that when people split up, it always gets messy and the kids shouldn't be used." Katie concluded: "But I am absolutely proud of of Princess. Me and Princess are so, so close. "We've never ever ever had an argument till this day, and we still text and ring each other every day." It was previously reported that there was a big fall out after Katie wasn't allowed to go to Princess' 18th birthday party, hosted by her ex, and her daughter's dad, Peter. In part one of the fourth episode of The Princess Diaries, Princess was asked by her famous father who she wanted at her party - and it appeared to not include Katie. Princess turned 18 back in June, and at the time Katie claimed she wasn't invited because she had been banned from appearing in The Princess Diaries. Speaking on her The Katie Price Show podcast at the time, she said: "Everyone knows she's doing this documentary - and I'm not in it. "Certain people don't think it's good for Princess to be seen with me. Certain people that used to look after me." Her sister Sophie chipped in: "You aren't on brand Katie. You are too risky Katie that's why." Katie then said: "It's pathetic. I'm her mother. "I'm just saying, Princess was like 'I'm having a party'. And I wasn't invited because it was for 'filming.'" Sophie added: "Oh of course it was! I wonder what restaurant did that for free."
