Lok Sabha is set to hold a special discussion on '
Operation Sindoor
', India's military response to the
Pahalgam terror attack
.
A fiery debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor is expected to unfold in Parliament, between top leaders from the ruling alliance and the Opposition.
Lok Sabha List of Business for Monday states, "Special Discussion on India's strong, successful and decisive 'Operation Sindoor' in response to terrorist attack in Pahalgam".
Twenty-six civilians were killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, after which India retaliated through precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Even since the monsoon session began on July 21, the Parliament has witnessed constant adjourments amid uproar over the demands of the opposition to push for a debate on issues of public importance, including the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack and the ongoing SIR exercise being carried out by the Election Commission in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
The opposition has also demanded that PM Modi respond to the repeated claims made by US President Donald Trump of initiating a "ceasefire" between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
The first week of the Monsoon session of Parliament was marked by major disruptions, including the surprise resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar as Vice President.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that the debate on Operation Sindoor will be held for 16 hours in the Lok Sabha on July 28 and for 16 hours in the Rajya Sabha on July 29.
"All issues cannot be discussed together... The opposition has raised several issues, like the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar and others. We have told them that Operation Sindoor will be discussed first. We will decide which issues to discuss after that. Operation Sindoor will be debated for 16 hours in the Lok Sabha on Monday (July 28) and for 16 hours in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (July 29)," Rijiju told reporters.
Apart from this, the floor leaders of the INDIA bloc parties will meet on Monday at 10 am to discuss the strategy for the second week of the monsoon session, with the Lok Sabha slated to take up discussion on Operation Sindoor on Monday and the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

‘Don't Break House's Property': Rahul Gandhi's Table Thump Gets Speaker's Warning
Rahul Gandhi criticised PM Modi for not objecting to Trump's lunch with Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, accusing Modi of using armed forces for his image. Operation Sindoor Debate: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was seen schooling Leader Of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday during the house proceedings. While speaking during the special discussion in the Lok Sabha on 'India's strong, successful and decisive Operation Sindoor in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam," Rahul Gandhi expressed his frustration by banging the table while questioning the government's silence over US President Donald Trump inviting Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir for lunch. 'The man behind Pahalgam is a Pakistani general called Asim Munir (chief of Army staff). That man is having lunch with the US President. He is sitting there. Our PM cannot go there. Mr Trump is breaking all protocol. And he is inviting the man who has done terrorism with India to have lunch with him. PM Modi hasn't said anything. He didn't say 'how dare Mr Trump invite Munir to his office'," Rahul said, while forcefully banging the table. The act drew a light rebuke from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who reminded the Congress leader to be mindful of House property. 'Respected member, this is House's property, please don't break it," Birla said after watching Rahul getting carried away during the speech. 'Sorry sir, it was a mistake?" the Congress MP soon responded. The outburst came as Rahul Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not objecting to Trump's gesture. He described Munir as the key figure behind the April 22 Pahalgam attack. He also accused PM Modi of using the armed forces to protect his image after the Pahalgam attack. 'If Modi ji has even 50 per cent of the courage that Indira Gandhi had, then clearly he must say in Parliament – Donald Trump is lying," he said. Gandhi also said that if the government had listened to his statement in Lok Sabha a few months ago on China and Pakistan fusing together, they would 'not have lost five aircraft" during Operation Sindoor. Participating in a special discussion in Lok Sabha on 'India's strong, successful and decisive Operation Sindoor in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam", he claimed the government revealed sensitive details about Operation Sindoor to Pakistan, soon after it was launched. 'I will not speak in English': BJP's Nishikant Dubey on Tamil Nadu MPs request in LS amid glitch in translating system
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, on Tuesday, refused to speak in English, rejecting Tamil Nadu MPs request in Lok Sabha amid a glitch in translating system. He further claimed that the MPs 'only had a problem with Hindi.' The BJP MP made the comments in the Lok Sabha after after Tamil Nadu MPs requested Nishikant Dubey to speak in English following a a technical glitch in the translator (system) in the Lok Sabha. Responding to them, Dubey said "...It would have been better if you had asked me to speak in Tamil or Bengali. English is a foreign language, and your insistence on it reflects your mindset. Someone spoke in Bengali for half an hour, yet Tamil Nadu MPs didn't object. You only have a problem with Hindi. Congress and its allies don't like North Indians or Hindi. If you keep promoting English, we'll end up becoming England. 'Hum phir se gulaam ho jayenge' (We will become slaves again)..." During the Monsoon Session of the Parliament on Tuesday, several leaders launched scathing attacks on the government about India's Operation Sindoor in the aftermath of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack in April that killed 26 people. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said the launch of Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam attack was a "symbol of the government's intelligence failure". Uttar Pradesh's former chief minister also said that India's foreign policy has 'completely collapsed,' while labelling China as a 'monster' that will "gobble up our (India's) land and market". "Who will take responsibility for the intelligence lapse in the Pahalgam attack?' Akhilesh Yadav said about the tragedy. Rahul Gandhi also took a swipe at the government, daring PM Modi to call 'Trump a liar,' referring to the POTUS's repeated claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. While India has consistently denied these assertions, the US President continues to highlight his alleged role in de-escalating tensions between the two nations following the Pahalgam terror attack. Following Rahul Gandhi's claims, PM Modi while addressing the Lok Sabha, refuted claims made by US President Donald Trump regarding his role in halting India's military action against Pakistan. He said said no world leader asked India to stop its military action against Pakistan during 'Operation Sindoor' after four days of conflict in May in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Tharoor raises delinking of BrahMos Thiruvananthapuram unit from parent firm in Parliament
Shashi Tharoor, MP, has drawn the Union government's urgent attention to the reported move to delink the Thiruvananthapuram unit of BrahMos from the parent BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. (BAPL). Raising the matter under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Tharoor called for the intervention of the Ministry of Defence and the Union government to protect BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd. (BATL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of BAPL, considering its strategic importance. Mr. Tharoor urged the Union government to ensure that either the BATL, located in his parliamentary constituency, remained under the Indo-Russian missile joint venture the BAPL or was reconstituted as a direct production centre under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He said the resolution to delink the BATL was passed without consultation with the State government, stakeholders, or the employee unions, causing anxiety among the staff. The BATL, he pointed out, manufactured precision components, engines, other critical systems for the BrahMos missile programmes. Its workforce had played a significant role in boosting India's strategic defence capabilities, he said, highlighting the need to address the matter without delay. Though members are allowed to raise matters of urgent public importance under Rule 377 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Lok Sabha, Mr. Tharoor in a post on X said his submission on the challenges faced by the BrahMos plant in Thiruvananthapuram was tabled on account of the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, which was ironic in view of the successful deployment of BrahMos during Sindoor.
