When you have a ton of money and buy cars all the time like Shaq, you apparently forget what you've purchased in the recent past. The former NBA basketball star was honestly surprised when Effortless Motors, a California dealer that's provided him with some nice customized rides in the past, showed up to deliver a new Cadillac Escalade IQ at one of his houses.Footage of that delivery uploaded to Instagram shows a confused, then skeptical, and finally shocked Shaquille O'Neal finding out about the purchase he didn't remember making. One of his big concerns was whether or not he would fit in the sleek SUV since his 7-foot 1-inch frame won't normally.
However, Effortless Motors took that very thing into account, doing some modifications to the plush interior so Shaq can enjoy the supple leather driver's seat without feeling the least bit cramped. Once the big man slipped inside he quickly was won over.
Although, it's worth nothing he was seated behind the B-pillar, so the driver's seat was repositioned rearward quite a bit. It's a good thing the Caddie is loaded with cameras and sensors.
Effortless modified the looks of the Escalade IQ, which is draped in a lot of black for a sophisticated yet somewhat sinister vibe. Most of the trim pieces are blacked out, although some strategic items retain their silvery, shiny finish which makes them really pop.
The all-electric SUV rides on black 26-inch Forgiato Travis Scott monoblock wheels, adding to its imposing stance. Thankfully, it's not murdered out, a trend which was wildly popular ten years ago but has since fizzled out.
Shaq bought a second Escalade IQ which was also customized by Effortless Motors to be delivered to one of his other houses. The man has purchased other custom rides from the dealer, including at least three Cybertrucks. He must enjoy their work because he keeps going back for more.
We hope Shaq enjoys his Escalade IQ made right for his size!

There's little left for us to say that can further embarrass the Tesla Cybertruck, a vehicle that was supposed to be the culmination of Elon Musk's genius. And maybe this is what Musk's genius looks like. The luckless EV has faced eight recalls so far, and its trademark stainless steel panels, when they aren't flying off, have demonstrated that they're better at serving as a shiny canvas for spray paint than as the armor of an "apocalypse-proof" tank. But somehow, its already dire sales are now even worse than expected. In the entire first quarter of 2025, Tesla has managed to sell just 7,100 Cybertrucks in the US, according to registration data from S&P Global Mobility cited by the Wall Street Journal. It's an astounding and rapid plummet, when in the fourth quarter of 2024, Tesla sold close to double that amount, with roughly 13,000 Cybertrucks. A lot changed between those two quarters — like Musk embarking on a spectacular speedrun to destroy his and Tesla's image, mainly by leading the Trump administration's charge to gut the federal government. These actions, and Musk's personal espousing of far-right politics, sparked worldwide protests against him and his automaker. It has yet to recover, with Tesla's total sales in the US dropping nine percent in the first three months of this year. There are other factors at play, too, like the success of its Chinese competitors and its aging vehicle lineup, but the imploded brand reputation looms largest. And more than any other of its vehicles, the Cybertruck for one reason or another has embodied the public's souring sentiment on Musk, becoming prime targets for vandalism. They're also notoriously unreliable, sold for nothing less than $100,000 before cheaper $70,000 versions were desperately rolled out, and launched with a range over 150 miles shorter than what Musk promised. In all of 2024, the company sold fewer than 40,000 Cybertrucks. The most recent quarter's tally makes Musk previous boast that the automaker would sell up to half a million Cybertrucks per year even more ridiculous. Is it any wonder that buyers are staying away? So few people want to buy these things that in May Electrek reported that Tesla was sitting on an inventory worth $800 million of 10,000 unsold Cybertrucks — an embarrassment as much as it is a logistical headache. Dealerships have resorted to dumping their glut of the unorthodox pickup trucks in deserted parking lots. The pain isn't likely to stop anytime soon. Trump's tariffs, which factored into Musk's fallout with the president, will drive up the costs of car parts. The administration also plans to axe tax credits for purchasing EVs, demolishing a huge incentive for American consumers to buy from automakers like Tesla. Tesla stock jumps on robotaxi momentum, Musk-Trump feud cooling
Tesla (TSLA) stock jumped for a third trading session in a row as the company's robotaxi rollout gains steam, and the war between CEO Elon Musk and President Trump cools off. On Monday night, Tesla was listed as an autonomous vehicle (AV) operator on Austin's Transportation and Public Works website, ahead of the reported June 12 targeted start of Tesla's robotaxi service. The news was first picked up by Tesla blog Teslarati. Tesla was listed with Alphabet's Waymo, Amazon's Zoox, Hyundai's Motional, and a few others on the current list of AV operators in Austin. Tesla stock closed up 5.7%, notching its third straight up session. Tesla's listing on the Transportation and Public Works site is seen as positive momentum for the start to begin imminently. Tesla also confirmed a report on that its robotaxis were testing in the city, with a test Model Y with "Robotaxi" emblazoned on side of it closely followed by a another Model Y chase vehicle. Tesla will begin its unsupervised robotaxi testing with approximately 10 to 20 robotaxis at first and will ramp up if testing goes smoothly. Tesla will use remote tele-operators in the event that a robotaxi has an incident or is stuck in a traffic situation, allowing human intervention when needed. While this is a welcome safety initiative, it may hinder any ramp-up of Tesla's robotaxi fleet. Musk's closeness to President Trump was seen as a boon for its robotaxi ambitions, but the recent war of words between the two sank Tesla stock late last week, and it's only now recovering. Part of today's recovery in the stock came as Trump made some conciliatory comments about Musk and Tesla on Monday after the bell. "I'd have no problem with it," Trump said at a White House event on Monday when asked if he would be willing to speak with Musk. "I'd imagine he wants to speak with me." Trump also revealed he wasn't going to sell the Tesla Model S he bought in March, following the unprecedented event where Musk brought a fleet of Tesla EVs to the White House for Trump's perusal.
