Massive devotee turnout marks second day of Saraswati Pushkaralu in Telangana
BHUPALPALLY: The spiritual energy was palpable on Friday as thousands of devotees flocked to Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district to take part in the ongoing Saraswati Pushkaralu. On the second day, the 12-day religious event witnessed a remarkable turnout, with over 1.2 lakh pilgrims participating in various ceremonies at the Triveni Sangam and Saraswati Pushkar Ghat.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka visited the temple along with his family and took a holy dip at the confluence of the Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswati rivers. He also performed spiritual rituals and offered harathi at the Pushkar Ghat.
Following the rituals, the deputy CM visited the Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple, where he offered prayers to Lord Shiva. Speaking to the media later, he praised the arrangements for the event, noting the seamless coordination and increasing daily footfall.
'The coming ten days are crucial for the Saraswati Pushkaralu,' he said. 'The tent city is a model of thoughtful planning, and the efforts made to ensure cleanliness, safety, and smooth crowd management at the ghats are commendable.' He also emphasised the spiritual depth of the event, highlighting that each day a revered spiritual leader participates in the holy bath and conducts rituals at the temple, enhancing the religious significance of the festival.
Vikramarka was accompanied by Minister Sridhar Babu, MLAs Makan Singh (Ramagundam), Gandra Satyanarayana Rao (Bhupalpally), District Collector Rahul Sharma, SP Kiran Khare, Additional Collector Ashok Kumar, and other senior officials.
District Collector Rahul Sharma inspected the arrangements on Friday, ensuring that pilgrims face no inconvenience during their visit. He reviewed facilities at the Saraswati Ghat, temporary tents, and various public utility stalls. Special attention was given to sanitation, availability of showers at the ghats, and overall hygiene.

: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has reiterated the Telangana government's commitment to complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) and turn the barren lands in backward Mahabubnagar district fertile. Mr. Bhatti was addressing a public meeting in Devarakadra constituency of the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district after laying foundation stones for 12 sub stations on Friday (June 6, 2025). 'During the BRS [Bharat Rashtra Samithi] regime, neither water flowed nor funds remained — everything vanished. The previous rulers looted whatever they could like thieves and are now trying to appear as saviors, but their own family members are revealing the truth: they had no love for the people,' he remarked. He said the government would fast-track the completion of the Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme and release the required funds without delay. He announced that funds for Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) and land acquisition would be released immediately. The gap between the Narlapur and Edula reservoirs will be filled with necessary funding. 'When ₹70 crore was needed for the Uddandapur R&R package, we released them without hesitation. In the future too, the government is ready to release any amount required,' he said. Referring to the Krishna River, the Deputy Chief Minister said that people of Palamuru dreamed of utilising its waters for their lands — the reason they demanded a separate State. However, in ten years, the previous rulers couldn't provide irrigation even to a single acre. He said all major irrigation projects in the old Mahabubnagar district — Jurala, Koilsagar, Bheema, Nettempadu, and Kalwakurthy — were completed during the Congress government. The current Indiramma government, he said, has launched the Indira Solar Giri Jal Vikasam scheme to empower tribal people with dignity. Under this scheme, the government is distributing free borewells, solar pump sets, and plants like avocado across 6.7 lakh acres owned by tribal communities.

Cabinet nod to clear 2 DAs
Hyderabad: The state Cabinet has on Thursday approved the long-pending demands of the government employees which included the release of two instalments of dearness allowance (DA) this year. It also decided to expedite the construction of rural roads under HAM (hybrid annuity model) and the expansion of the Metro Rail in the greater Hyderabad limits. During the six-hour-long Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues discussed extensively the employees' demands and took a slew of decisions. Briefing the media after the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the government would release one DA amount immediately to the government staff and another one would be released after six months due to financial constraints. The demand for the creation of a trust to provide medical care to all the employees with equal contribution of insurance amount by the employees and the government was accepted. The Chief Secretary will be the chairman of the healthcare trust. The Cabinet also decided to pay the pending bills, including the benefit to the retired employees. As much as Rs 700 crore will be spent on the release of pending bills every month. Ban on recruitment of retired employees on a contract basis, fast clearance of the compassionate appointments, grading the posts of the Panchayat secretaries, establishment of nursing directorate, Rs 2 lakh retirement benefits to the Anganwadi workers and clearing all pending hired vehicle bills were among other decisions that were taken in the Cabinet meeting. To improve the connectivity for public transportation, Information and Public Relations Minister P Srinivasa Reddy said that the Cabinet approved new metro line corridors mainly- Shamshabad to Future City (39 km), Jubilee Bus Station- Medchal (25 Km) and Jubilee Bus Station to Shamirpet (22 km). The estimated cost of the new metro line networks for 86 km was Rs 19,579 crore and it would be taken up jointly by the state and Union governments, the minister said, adding that the BJP MPs and Union ministers should also pursue the issue with the Centre and get approvals without any delay. The Cabinet ratified the development of R & B roads and Panchayat Raj roads under the HAM model. The R & B will develop a 5,100 km road network and the Panchayat Raj will improve the road network on a 7,900-km stretch. All the proposed road development projects will be completed in two years and the agency, which will take up the roads, will be entrusted with the responsibility of maintenance of the roads for 15 years. The Earth Science University in Kothagudem district would be named after former prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the minister said, adding that the Cabinet decided to pay an insurance amount of Rs 10 lakh to the members of self-help groups in case of deaths.

Telangana cabinet meeting tomorrow; KLIS, Yuva Vikasam on agenda
HYDERABAD: The state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is scheduled to meet on June 5. It is expected to take up the report submitted by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), implementation of the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme and issues concerning government employees, among other matters. Sources said the Cabinet is likely to approve the NDSA report and adopt its recommendations. The Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme, which aims to provide bank loans with incentives for youth self-employment, is also expected to come up for discussion. Even before the scheme's rollout, the government received several complaints about ineligible applicants being considered. Though over 13 lakh applications have been received, the distribution of sanction letters — which was set to begin on June 2 — has been put on hold. In a recent meeting with ministers, the chief minister said the letters would be issued only after Cabinet deliberations. Meanwhile, the Cabinet is also likely to discuss the report submitted by the three-officer committee formed to engage with government employees on their pending issues and demands. The report was recently submitted to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
