Mass yoga sessions planned at spiritual & historical sites on Int'l Yoga Day
The Uttar Pradesh government is making mega preparations for International Yoga Day on June 21, with a series of special events planned to celebrate the occasion with cultural and spiritual fervour. As in previous years, iconic historical and religious sites will serve as the backdrop for large-scale yoga sessions, connecting the practice to the state's rich heritage and spiritual traditions, spokesperson said. Mass yoga demonstrations will be held at prominent locations, including the Gorakhdham Temple in Gorakhpur, the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, the Chakratirth in Naimisharanya (Sitapur), and the Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi. In addition, grand events are planned at the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow and the Prem Mandir in Mathura. Yoga sessions will also take place at historical landmarks across gram panchayats, blocks, tehsils, and districts. Yoga Week officially commenced on June 15, with various district- and state-level programmes already underway. Participants have also taken a pledge to integrate yoga into their daily lives, the press release read. The weeklong celebration will feature targeted activities for different segments of society: On June 16, schools and colleges will host competitions in yogasana, poster-making, speech, essay writing, quizzes, and rangoli. On June 17, under 'Ayush Gram Yoga Day,' yoga sessions and health check-up camps will be held in gram panchayats. On June 18, yoga programmes will be conducted for individuals with special needs, prisoners, residents of orphanages, and slum dwellers. On June 19, mass yoga practice will take place in government and corporate offices. On June 20, dedicated yoga sessions will focus on women's health, targeting girl students, pregnant women, adults, and working women. On June 21, on International Yoga Day, large-scale yoga demonstrations will be organised at the Raj Bhavan Lawn, Residency, and all district headquarters. Winners of district and state-level competitions will also be felicitated on this day. State and district-level competitions in essay writing, slogan creation, painting, and yoga asana are also being organised. Entries can be submitted on the official portal until 5pm on June 16. At the state level, prizes will include ₹21,000 (1st Prize), ₹11,000 (2nd Prize), ₹5,100 (3rd Prize), ₹2,100 (4th Prize), and ₹1,100 (5th Prize). To support district-level activities and prizes, over ₹2.63 crore has been allocated to all 75 districts.

QR code-based audio tours at tourist spots to take visitors on immersive digital journey
Lucknow: In a major step to enhance tourist experience and promote cultural heritage, the Yogi govt is set to launch QR code-based audio tour portals and content at 100 key tourist destinations across Uttar Pradesh. "This initiative aims to offer both domestic and international tourists a unique, informative, and immersive journey through the state's rich history, culture and natural beauty. The core feature of the project is the introduction of QR-based audio tours that provide 5 to 7-minute storytelling experiences about the significance of each location," officials said on Saturday. These audio narratives will be available in 10 regional languages—Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, English, Kannada, Odia, and Malayalam—and 5 international languages—French, Spanish, German, Japanese, and Mandarin—making the content widely accessible. "To ensure a high-quality experience, the audio stories will be recorded by professional voiceover artists and feature background music and ambient sounds to bring historical and cultural contexts to life. Additionally, the platform will include accessibility features such as multilingual subtitles and high-contrast text for the hearing impaired," they said. Tourists can scan these codes to access the audio tours. Asserting that the effort by the state tourism department is a big step towards making tourism modern and accessible through digital technology, officials further said: "The QR codes will be linked with the Uttar Pradesh Tourism website and mobile apps (both Android and iOS), allowing easy access to the content. There will also be offline access available so that tourists can get the information even in low network areas. " To ensure the quality of the content, a team of historians, archaeologists and cultural experts from institutions like Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and the Archaeological Survey of India will review the scripts. This will ensure the information is historically accurate, culturally relevant and interesting for visitors.

Over 2 lakh take holy dip on last day of Saraswati Pushkaralu
BHUPALPALLY : More than two lakh pilgrims took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam on the last day of Saraswati Pushkaralu on Monday. A ten-kilometre-long traffic jam caused panic among pilgrims trying to reach the Pushkar Ghat. However, the police and Endowments department authorities cleared the traffic on the main road to make way. To facilitate transportation, TGSRTC officials operated a special shuttle service from various locations to the ghat for pilgrims. During the night, a group of priests from Varanasi (Kashi) offered the Saraswati Navaratna Mala Harathi, marking the conclusion of Pushkaralu. Later, district administration authorities organised a drone show at the ghats. State Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and Dharmapuri MLA and Government Whip Aduluri Laxman Kumar took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. Following this, they visited the Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy temple and performed rituals for Lord Shiva. The temple also witnessed an overwhelming turnout of pilgrims. Jayashankar Bhupalpally District Collector Rahul Sharma and Superintendent of Police Kiran Khare took precautionary measures to ensure a smooth and peaceful conclusion to Pushkaralu.

Saraswati Pushkaralu in Telangana: Where rivers meet, faith flows
BHUPALPALLY: On the third day of the ongoing Saraswati Pushkaralu at the Triveni Sangam in Kaleshwaram, thousands of devotees thronged the Pushkar Ghat, turning the riverbank and roads into scenes reminiscent of the recent Maha Kumbh Mela. With the weekend rush, devotees performed sacred rituals and took holy dips in the river. Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao visited the ghat, took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam and performed spiritual rituals. He also visited the Shri Kaleshwara Mukteshwara Swamy temple and offered prayers to Lord Shiva. Speaking on the occasion, he said the Telangana government was organising the Saraswati Pushkaralu with devotion and grandeur. 'I prayed for the prosperity of Telangana and the well-being of its farmers. May the state flourish with abundant crops and harmony,' he said. He noted that this is the first Saraswati Pushkaralu being held under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The state government, he added, has already begun planning for the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu, with clear directions from the CM for early execution of arrangements.

Massive devotee turnout marks second day of Saraswati Pushkaralu in Telangana
BHUPALPALLY: The spiritual energy was palpable on Friday as thousands of devotees flocked to Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district to take part in the ongoing Saraswati Pushkaralu. On the second day, the 12-day religious event witnessed a remarkable turnout, with over 1.2 lakh pilgrims participating in various ceremonies at the Triveni Sangam and Saraswati Pushkar Ghat. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka visited the temple along with his family and took a holy dip at the confluence of the Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswati rivers. He also performed spiritual rituals and offered harathi at the Pushkar Ghat. Following the rituals, the deputy CM visited the Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple, where he offered prayers to Lord Shiva. Speaking to the media later, he praised the arrangements for the event, noting the seamless coordination and increasing daily footfall. 'The coming ten days are crucial for the Saraswati Pushkaralu,' he said. 'The tent city is a model of thoughtful planning, and the efforts made to ensure cleanliness, safety, and smooth crowd management at the ghats are commendable.' He also emphasised the spiritual depth of the event, highlighting that each day a revered spiritual leader participates in the holy bath and conducts rituals at the temple, enhancing the religious significance of the festival. Vikramarka was accompanied by Minister Sridhar Babu, MLAs Makan Singh (Ramagundam), Gandra Satyanarayana Rao (Bhupalpally), District Collector Rahul Sharma, SP Kiran Khare, Additional Collector Ashok Kumar, and other senior officials. District Collector Rahul Sharma inspected the arrangements on Friday, ensuring that pilgrims face no inconvenience during their visit. He reviewed facilities at the Saraswati Ghat, temporary tents, and various public utility stalls. Special attention was given to sanitation, availability of showers at the ghats, and overall hygiene.
