Queen invites Europeans to visit Jordan, explore its historical treasures
Ammon News - Rome - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, accompanied by Italian First Lady Laura Mattarella, visited the 'Jordan: Dawn of Christianity' exhibition at the Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome on Tuesday, where Her Majesty called on Europeans to visit Jordan and experience its rich heritage.
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the month-long exhibition is a collaborative effort between Jordan's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Vatican.
Her Majesty and the Italian First Lady toured the exhibition, which features 90 artifacts from over 30 different archeological sites in Jordan, aiming to highlight the country's historical significance to Christianity.
Inviting visitors from across Italy and Europe to visit Jordan, the Queen stressed the country's exceptional cultural wealth and its thriving Christian community, which is one of oldest in the world.
'Jordan is the land of hospitality – anyone who has visited us will attest to the warmth and graciousness of its people. But Jordan is also steeped in history. Everywhere you turn, there are echoes of the ancient civilizations that once called our land home,' Queen Rania said.
'With such a remarkable blend of cultures and traditions, our country truly has something for everyone. Jordan is an experience you won't want to miss,' she added.
State Secretary of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Grand Chancellor of the Order of Malta, Ricardo Paternò di Montecupo, President of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See, Monsignor Giordano Piccinotti, Ambassador of Jordan to Italy, Kais Abu Dayyeh, and Ambassador of Jordan to the French Republic and the Holy See, Leena Al Hadid, welcomed Her Majesty and the Italian First Lady to the exhibition, which commemorates 30 years of diplomatic ties between Jordan and the Holy See.
The different displays trace the evolution of Christianity in Jordan across a number of time periods, beginning with the baptism of Christ through the Byzantine and Islamic Empires, and leading into the present Hashemite era.
The exhibition also features artifacts from five pilgrimage sites in Jordan, including Mount Nebo, the memorial of Prophet Moses; Tel Mar Elias, the birthplace of Prophet Elijah; Our Lady of the Mountain Church, a shrine commemorating Mother Mary; Machaerus, the site of John the Baptist's martyrdom; and the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ.
Coinciding with the Vatican's Holy Jubilee Year under the theme 'Pilgrims of Hope' and featuring archeological items never before displayed outside of Jordan, the exhibition aims to serve as an open invitation for the world to explore Jordan's spiritual and cultural treasures and its rich biblical landscape.

Speaking about regional developments, His Majesty praised Spain's position calling for an end to the war on Gaza, and ensuring that delivery of humanitarian aid reaches all areas of the Strip. The King highlighted the importance of Spain's decision to recognise the Palestinian state, a step that will lead to more support for the Palestinian people. His Majesty said work is underway to gain more European support for the Arab plan to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents, commending Spain as the voice of reason and wisdom. The King warned of the dangers of unilateral measures targeting Palestinians in the West Bank, and Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. His Majesty reiterated the need to step up international efforts to support Palestinians in gaining their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on the basis of the two-state solution. For his part, Prime Minister Sánchez praised Jordan's important efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty, to promote security and stability in the region and the world, noting Jordan's vital role in supporting Palestinians. Sánchez added that the war on Gaza, which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, must be brought to an end. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Spain Raghad Al Saqqa attended the talks.

Jordan, Morocco discuss economic cooperation
Ammon News - The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and Morocco's ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, held a meeting to explore ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, citing the need for stronger institutional coordination and greater engagement between their private sectors. According to a statement by the Chamber, Chairman Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq emphasized the strength of Jordanian-Moroccan relations and called for the development of deeper economic ties. He said current trade volumes do not reflect the potential of the bilateral relationship and pointed to limited delegation exchanges and coordination between chambers of commerce as key obstacles. Al-Haj Tawfiq proposed activating communication channels, improving the flow of investment and trade information, and establishing continuous networking platforms between the two business communities. He announced an agreement with Moroccan Member of Parliament Khadija Hajoubi to host an exhibition of traditional Moroccan crafts and products in Amman later this year. A twinning arrangement is also planned between the Amman Chamber of Commerce and the chamber in the Fès-Meknès region. He added that the Chamber is prepared to support Moroccan companies seeking entry into the Jordanian market and encouraged joint private-sector participation in reconstruction projects in Syria.
