Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore's 2025 campaign has ended before it even began, marking the second consecutive year he will miss an entire season due to a devastating knee injury.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury on the very first play of the Vikings' preseason opener against the Houston Texans. Fielding a punt return, Moore was tackled and stayed down immediately, clearly in pain. Moments later, he was carted off the field, visibly frustrated and aware of the potential severity.
Minnesota later confirmed the worst fears—Moore was placed on injured reserve, ending his season just as it started.
Back-to-back major injuries derail Rondale Moore's promising career
This isn't Moore's first battle with serious injury. In 2024, while with the Atlanta Falcons, he sustained a season-ending knee injury during training camp, preventing him from taking a single regular-season snap. Hoping for a fresh start, Moore signed a one-year deal with the Vikings in the offseason, looking to showcase his skills and reignite his career.
Before the injuries, Moore built a reputation as a versatile and dynamic weapon during his first three NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Over 39 games, he recorded 1,201 receiving yards and three touchdowns, including a full 17-game slate in 2023 when he was last fully healthy. His ability to stretch defenses and contribute on special teams made him a valuable roster piece, which is why the Vikings saw him as a low-risk, high-upside addition.
Vikings face depth questions ahead of regular season opener
For the Vikings, Moore's injury is more than a personal setback—it's a depth concern. With the regular season opener against the Chicago Bears looming on September 8, Minnesota will have to reshuffle its receiving corps and special teams units.
While the team boasts star receiver Justin Jefferson and emerging talent Jordan Addison, Moore's absence removes a player who could have added another layer of speed and versatility to their offense.
The injury also adds another challenge for rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who is returning from his own season-ending injury last preseason. As the Vikings navigate their next steps, Moore now faces another long and grueling rehab process, hoping for a healthier return in 2026.

Mondo Duplantis creates pole vault world record for 13th time, clears 6.29m; watch video

The double-Olympic champion maintained his tradition of improving on his previous record by one centimetre, with his second attempt at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial overhauling the mark he set in Stockholm in June. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Duplantis sets world record for 13th time Duplantis had looked a little off his best form, missing his first attempt at 6.11 and, after Greece's Emmanouil Karalis retired having failed twice at the same height, the Swede had the bar raised to make his usual world record attempt. Desiré Inglander shares her POV of her fiancé Mondo Duplantis breaking the pole vault world record today by clearing 6.29m 🐐 🇸🇪 — CITIUS MAG (@CitiusMag) August 12, 2025 The 25-year-old twice world champion was unsuccessful on his first try and while he rattled the bar slightly on his second effort, Duplantis looked up almost in disbelief to see he had again reached a new height in the discipline he dominates. 'I love Hungary very much. The track is very good, I love the crowd, I would like to return, thank you,' Duplantis said. Duplantis, who won his second world title in the same stadium in 2023, ran straight to the crowd to celebrate with his partner Desire Inglander and his family. On Monday, Duplantis missed most of the press conference ahead of the Budapest meeting, apologising when he turned up late, saying he had a lot of work to do on his time management. 'I think I'll have to make up for it tomorrow with a big leap,' Duplantis said. He duly stayed true to his word to the delight of the Budapest crowd, and has now soared 15 centimetres higher than Sergey Bubka, who Duplantis once described as 'mythological'. The American-born Duplantis first broke the world record in 2020 in Poland, with his leap of 6.17 surpassing by one centimetre the previous record set by Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie six years earlier. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Lavillenie had beaten Bubka's best jump of 6.14, which had stood for almost 20 years, but Duplantis has taken the sport to another level and on Saturday competes at the Silesia Diamond League, where he also broke the world record last year.

Australia's unbeaten T20I streak ends – Where does it rank among the longest runs?

South Africa's Kagiso Rabada, centre, is congratulated by teammates (Jono Searle/AAPImage via AP) Australia's nine-match T20I winning streak came to an end in dramatic fashion on Tuesday as Dewald Brevis powered South Africa to a 53-run win in Darwin to level the three-match series at 1-1. The Aussies, led by Mitchell Marsh , had been in red-hot form. They entered this series off the back of a 5-0 sweep against West Indies and a victory in the first T20I over South Africa, taking their streak to nine straight wins — the longest in their T20I history. The run saw them join Pakistan and New Zealand in the record books, although they were still behind Afghanistan and India's benchmark of 12 consecutive wins. The 22-year-old smashed an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, breaking Faf du Plessis' South African record for the highest T20I score. His innings, filled with eight sixes and 12 fours, helped the visitors post 218-7. Poll How likely is it that Australia can bounce back in the final T20I? Sha'Carri Richardson issues public apology to Christian Coleman after domestic violence arrest

Sha'Carri Richardson and Christian Coleman (Images via AP & Getty Images) Reigning world 100m champion Sha'Carri Richardson has publicly apologized to fellow sprinter Christian Coleman following her arrest in a domestic violence incident last month. The 25-year-old American, who won gold in the 100m at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest and silver at last year's Paris Olympics, was arrested on July 27 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for allegedly shoving Coleman, her boyfriend. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Days later, both competed at the US Championships in Eugene, Oregon, where Coleman, who reportedly did not press charges, said Richardson should not have been arrested. In an Instagram post addressing the matter, Richardson wrote, 'I apologize to Christian. He came into my life and gave me more than a relationship but a greater understanding of unconditional love from what I've experienced in my past. Due to my past trauma and pain, I was blind and blocked off to not only receive it but give it. I love him and to him I can't apologize enough.' 'I'm taking this time to not only see myself but get myself a certain level of help that overall is going to reflect who I truly am in my heart and my spirit… not allowing this moment – but accepting this moment – to be more,' Richardson said. She added that she wanted her family and fans to hold her to high standards. 'I refuse to run away but to face everything that comes to me head on because everything on the other side is great but you've got to go through in order to get there.' Poll Should Christian Coleman have pressed charges against Sha'Carri Richardson? Yes, it was necessary. No, they should resolve it privately. Richardson withdrew from the 100m semi-finals at the US Championships but, as reigning world champion, she has secured a place in the event at next month's World Championships in Tokyo.
