Nebraska football receives votes in first US LBM Coaches Poll of the season
The Nebraska Cornhuskers went unranked in the first USA TODAY US LBM Coaches Poll of the 2025 season. The Huskers did make the 'others receiving votes' list with 19 points. "The US LBM Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at Football Bowl Subdivision schools. The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th." It should also be noted that Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule is listed as a voter in the 2025 edition of the poll. Texas was ranked No. 1, followed by Ohio State at No. 2 and Penn State at No. 3. Find the entire poll below. Contact/Follow us @CornhuskersWire on X (formerly Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Nebraska news, notes, and opinions.

One of Notre Dame's top 2027 RB targets decided on Sunday to play for home state school
BREAKING: Four-Star RB Amir Brown (2027) has Committed to North Carolina, he tells me for @rivalsThe 5'11 205 RB from Raleigh, NC chose the Tar Heels over Texas & Notre Dame'#GDTBATH' While Notre Dame football has had plenty of success on the recruiting trail, you can't win them all and that happened on Sunday with 2027 North Carolina running back Amir Brown. The Irish offered during its 'Pot of Gold Day' in March and he took an unofficial visit the next month. Unfortunately, the allure to stay home and play for legendary head coach Bill Belichick got him to commit to the Tar Heels. While this is a recruiting miss for Notre Dame, the targets they have in the 2027 class at running back have seen only two of them currently committed, as the Irish are currently trying to flip Kemon Spell away from Penn State. If they are able to do just that, missing out on Brown won't be seen as such a big loss, as Spell is a 5-star prospect. There is no doubt in my mind that Notre Dame will land of of its top running back targets in the 2027 cycle, unfortunately it won't be Brown. Patriots DC Terrell Williams suffers health scare at practice
New England Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams reportedly rode in a cart off the field after seemingly suffering a health scare during practice. Inside linebackers coach Zak Kuhr took over the defensive playcalling after Williams left training camp practice early on Monday. It's important to note that Kuhr was the defensive play-caller throughout the spring practices as well, when Williams was away from the team with health issues. Back in May, Williams admitted that he was undergoing a serious lifestyle change after ignoring doctors and others in his life when it came to eating right, working out and taking medication. Williams' health is more important than football. Hopefully, he bounces back strongly and can get back to doing what he loves to do.
