Tuaran man charged for unauthorized transfer of brother-in-law's money to mother's account

By: R Gonzales Text Size: TUARAN: A 34-year-old man was charged today at Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court for transferring RM10,000 belonging to his brother-in-law to his mother's bank account without consent. Tuaran District Police Chief Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin said the suspect was arrested by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division last Friday at 6:30 pm. Investigations revealed the transfer was made on November 20, 2024, without the knowledge or approval of both parties. The suspect later withdrew the funds using his mother's ATM card without permission. The case is being investigated under Section 424C(2) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of 3 to 10 years, a fine between RM10,000 and RM150,000, or both. Supt. RM1.9 million syabu seized from drifting boat

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah and Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) seized 42 kilogrammes of syabu worth RM1.9 million from an unregistered boat found drifting near the Royal Malaysian Navy's Papa Station on Monday. Sabah MMEA Director First Admiral Mohd Khairulanuar Abd Majid @ Razali said the total value of the seizure, including the boat, was estimated at RM2.5 million, making it the largest drug bust by Sabah MMEA to date. Advertisement He said the vessel was handed over to MMEA around 8.20am after being spotted adrift by navy personnel. 'An initial inspection by the navy uncovered three suspicious packages hidden in the bilges. 'A further inspection at Sepanggar MMEA jetty, assisted by our Forensic Team and Maritime Crime Investigation Section, found another 39 packages concealed in the water storage tank,' he said. He said all 42 packages, weighing a total of 42kg, are suspected to contain dangerous drugs and will be sent to the Chemistry Department for analysis. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment, on conviction. 'No crew was found on board the boat, believed to be a leisure or fishing vessel,' Khairulanuar said. ASP Leonard Langking takes over as new Sibu CCID chief

Student killed in Pitas hit-and-run, cops seek witnesses

Kota Marudu Police Chief Supt Simiun Lomudin said initial investigations found that the victim's motorcycle was struck and dragged by the vehicle during the 6.30pm incident. Advertisement 'The incident occurred while the victim was on his way home. The driver of the vehicle is believed to have fled the scene. 'In this regard, the police are appealing for the cooperation of the public who witnessed the incident, or have any information related to the crash, to come forward and assist with the investigation,' he said.
