Celtic's '12th Lisbon Lion' John Fallon dies aged 84
The Cambuslang-born goalkeeper joined Celtic in 1958 and made almost 200 appearances over a 14-year period.
He played in the team that kick-started Celtic's trophy success under Stein with victory over Dunfermline in the 1965 Scottish Cup final and went on to collect 14 winners' medals in total before leaving for Motherwell. He also had a brief spell with Morton before retiring.
A statement from the Scottish champions read: 'His love for Celtic, however, was a constant throughout the years, and he followed the club at home and away for the rest of life.
'His passing comes as a great sadness to us all, and the thoughts and prayers of everyone connected with Celtic Football Club are with his family and friends at this sad time.'
Fallon was reunited with his European Cup winners' medal in 2019, having lost it in the wake of the final.
The memento was donated to Celtic, who returned it to its rightful owner.
Speaking at the time, Fallon told the Celtic website: 'We were wading through scores of fans to get off the park and into the dressing room. It's such a great memory.
'We'll never forget it, and it's something everyone should be proud of. For the Celtic supporters, we gave them something to look at that nobody else could.'
Fallon attended the funeral of fellow Lisbon Lion John Clark last month.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Sutherland is consistently ranked among the world's finest golf courses, and is now forecasting a 30 per cent rise in advance bookings for the 2026 season compared to the same period last year. The Dons are back in for AC Milan striker Marko Lazetic but Swedish boss is hunting reinforcement sin other areas as well Aberdeen have renewed their interest in Marko Lazetic - as Jimmy Thelin looks to bring in four new signings before the close of the window. The Scottish Cup winners tried to land the AC Milan striker last season but were thwarted by red tape at the end of the January window. Aberdeen 's recruitment chief Nuno de Almeida and his team have been working on striking targets all summer. The Dons have now gone back in for Lazetic but Milan are looking to claw back as much of the €4 million they paid Red Star to land him back in 2022. The Serbian side are also due a sell-on of any fee. Aberdeen would prefer to buy Lazetic but would be open to a loan with a possible option. The Dons would also need to get the green light and a work visa to land the Serbian under-21 cap. Lazetic hasn't played much football at Milan and it is unlikely he is going to make it there. He has spent the last seasons on loan at Rheindorf Altach, Fortuna Sittard and then at TSC. Thelin has brought in Kusini Yengi and had been searching for another forward after Kevin Nisbet and Oday Dabbagh returned to their parent clubs at the end of their loans. The Aberdeen boss also wants another winger along with a striker and is also looking to add another two signings to his squad, as he looks to bulk up for group stage football in either the Europa League or Conference League. That would see Thelin bring in 11 signings in this window. The key for Thelin though is that it has to be the right quality and characters to enhance his squad. Thelin has the full backing of chairman Dave Cormack and his board. Other players could also go with the likes of Richard Jensen and Slobodan Rubezic having just returned from loan spells, as they will be looking for more first-team football. William Saliba warns Premier League rivals over 'scary' Arsenal signing
Arsenal star William Saliba says Premier League defenders are in for a 'scary' ride next season following Viktor Gyokeres' arrival from Sporting. The Gunners officially announced that they had won the race for Gyokeres at the weekend, with the club agreeing a deal worth €63.5million (£54.8m) – plus €10m (£8.6m) in add-ons – with Portuguese champions Sporting. The prolific Swede became Arsenal's sixth signing of the window, following Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi and Cristhian Mosquera through the doors at the Emirates. Manchester United had also been pursuing an agreement for Gyokeres across the summer, but the 27-year-old attacker was intent on playing Champions League football next term – and made it clear he favoured a switch to north London.
