Opposition YSRCP alleges ex-MLA Chevireddy framed in liquor case
Vijayawada, June 17 (UNI) YSRCP leader Chevireddy Mohith Reddy strongly condemned the TDP-led coalition government for plotting to falsely implicate former government whip Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy in the so-called liquor scam.
Speaking at the party central office at Tadepalli near here on Tuesday, he alleged that SIT officials were using coercion and police force to extract false statements from former gunmen of Bhaskar Reddy.
Mohith Reddy revealed that SIT officers had summoned former gunmen, including Giri and head constable Madan Reddy, and subjected them to physical torture when they refused to provide fabricated statements. He said Madan Reddy was beaten so severely that he had to be hospitalized and is currently under treatment. Photos of the injured constable were shown during the press meet.
The YSRCP leader questioned whether refusing to lie against Bhaskar Reddy was a crime and condemned the SIT's brutal treatment. Mohith Reddy stated that Madan Reddy has filed a petition in the High Court seeking protection from further harassment, which clearly shows how law enforcement is being misused.
The YSRCP leader warned the government that using police as pawns to frame YSRCP leaders would not go unchallenged. He also cautioned police officers that unlawful actions will make them answerable before the court.

Raja Raghuvanshi murder: Meghalaya Police reveals 5 chilling details including failed first attempt
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police, which is investigating the murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, has travelled to Indore to explore whether a financial angle was involved in the crime. As part of the probe, the Meghalaya Police also brought all the accused — including Raja Raghuvanshi's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi — to Sohra, about 65 km from Shillong, where they recreated the crime scene under tight security, Hindustan Times earlier reported. Raja Raghuvanshi was hacked to death in a parking lot near Weisawdong Falls and his body was dumped in a nearby gorge in Sohra area in East Khasi Hills district on May 23. Raja and his wife, Sonam, were on their honeymoon when he was killed allegedly by three hitmen – Vishal, Anand and Akash - sent by her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha, who is also one of the arrested people. Although Raj Kushwaha is the mastermind of the murder, he did not come to Meghalaya. There were chilling details of the murder that emerged after the recreation of the crime scene, in which one policeman acted as Raja Raghuvanshi.

Alliance regime a bundle of failures, says CPI(M)
CPI(M) leaders called the one year rule of the TDP-led alliance government as a 'bundle of failures' and wanted the regime to learn lessons from its mistakes. Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Tirupati district general secretary Kandarapu Murali released a booklet published by the CPI(M) on the one-year-old rule in State on Tuesday, and termed the regime as having failed to fulfil its own promises made ahead of the elections. 'Having formed an alliance with the BJP-led NDA at the Centre, State leaders like N. Chandrababu Naidu and K. Pawan Kalyan were expected to usher in an era of development for the State, however, they sacrificed the State's interests for their own political gains,' he said. He alleged that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) had been dragged into scores of controversies, hurting the sentiments of the devout Hindus. 'While the minimum wages have not been raised for the last 15 years, the credit for increasing the working hours from 10 to 12 hours goes to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu,' the leaders commented. The speakers accused the alliance regime of treading the same path taken by the YSRCP government in the past.

Iran's Khamenei Risks Fate "Similar" To Saddam Hussein, Warns Israel
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday he could suffer a fate "similar to" Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, who was toppled and later executed. Israel Katz warned Khamenei risked "a fate similar to Saddam Hussein" during a meeting with Israeli military and security service commanders, according to a statement from his office. "I warn the Iranian dictator against continuing to commit war crimes and launch missiles toward Israeli civilians," Israel Katz was quoted as saying. "He should remember what happened to the dictator in the neighbouring country to Iran who took the same path against Israel." Saddam Hussein was toppled in the US-led invasion of 2003 and later captured and executed. His administration fired missiles at Israel during the 1991 Gulf war and was accused of running a covert nuclear weapons programme.
