Ankeny officials to share ideas for city revitalization

Yahoo24-03-2025

ANKENY, Iowa — The City of Ankeny is holding a public open house on Monday evening to share ideas for revitalizing a vital part of the community.
The city started a revitalization plan for South Ankeny Boulevard last summer, according to the city's Economic Development Director, Derek Lord. Now, Ankeny is nearly done with the plan.
'The South Ankeny Blvd is a vital corridor in the center of our community and really what it means is the plan is intended to ensure that the corridor will remain viable for the next 60 or 70 years just like it's been viable for the last 60 or 70 years,' he said.

Their goal was to improve the economic health in the area of South Ankeny Boulevard between First Street and Oralabor Road.
The city asked residents for their input through an online survey and at public forums. Lord said around 1,000 residents provided feedback.
Some of the improvements residents have raised include:
improving vehicle and pedestrian safety
creating more consistent development patterns
adding more sit-down restaurants
building more mixed-use developments, for example, buildings of lots for commercial and residential use
establishing better branding to identify the corridor
'We also heard people want to see the diversity of businesses maintained in the corridor because the South Ankeny Corridor does have a nice eclectic mix of businesses that are both local and regional,' said Lord. 'People would also like to see the corridor remain its affordability.'
This comes as the city of Ankeny has seen tremendous growth in recent years. According to data outlined by Neilsberg, the city's population increased 169% between the years 2000 and 2023.
The Public Open House will take place Monday evening at the New City Church. Ankeny residents are encouraged to stop by between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to hear the city's ideas for the corridor.
The New City Church is located at 849 South Ankeny Boulevard.

Kongsberg Maritime introduces K-Sail to support WAPS uptake

Kongsberg Maritime has introduced K-Sail, a new service aimed at assisting vessel owners in the selection and integration of wind-assist technology. K-Sail is described as an 'advanced' technology platform that aims to enhance vessel operations and decision-making while driving efficiency across fleets. K-Sail is designed to simplify the adoption of wind-assist technology for ship owners by focusing on integration and collaborating with various technology partners. Kongsberg Maritime's expertise in maritime technology is claimed to be central to the new service. The optimisation process is structured around five primary areas: first, an analysis phase that assesses the vessel's operational parameters to identify suitable sail technology. Second is on steering optimisation to adjust the steering system for the additional thrust from the sails, and third is on propulsion optimisation to ensure the propeller functions efficiently with the new wind propulsion. Fourth, power management to balance the energy generated by the sails with the vessel's requirements, and finally, voyage optimisation, which employs AI and real-time data to enhance route and speed for improved efficiency. The K-Sail platform integrates sail management, vessel automation, and route optimisation into a cohesive system, providing operators with comprehensive control over wind-assisted performance without complexity. Kongsberg Maritime Business Concepts vice president Henrik Alpo Sjoblom said: 'Ship owners can choose their preferred type of wind assist technology. There are several available and they all have their own attributes. 'However, to date, these technologies, whether incorporated in a new build, or retrofitted, are essentially an add-on technology. We believe they can be used in a much more effective way.' Recently, Kongsberg Maritime, Solstad, Østensjø, DeepOcean, and Remota signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to initiate a pilot project assessing the feasibility of remote Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations in the offshore industry. "Kongsberg Maritime introduces K-Sail to support WAPS uptake" was originally created and published by Ship Technology, a GlobalData owned brand. Nasdaq confirms XRP, SOL, ADA, and XLM in benchmark index via new SEC filing

Nasdaq confirms XRP, SOL, ADA, and XLM in benchmark index via new SEC filing originally appeared on TheStreet. Nasdaq has officially filed an SEC Form 8-K for the Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF, confirming it has reconstituted its benchmark index to include four new digital assets: Cardano (ADA), Solana (SOL), Stellar Lumens (XLM), and XRP. These coins are now part of the Nasdaq Crypto US Settlement Price Index (NCIUS), which the ETF uses as its benchmark. According to the filing dated June 2, this update marks a significant step toward broader crypto representation in institutional investment products. However, despite the change, the Trust will continue to hold only Bitcoin and Ethereum for now, due to its existing listing restrictions. 'Notwithstanding the changes to the NCI US, the Trust will continue to hold only BTC and ETH… due to the limitations of the Trust's currently approved listing rule,' the filing states. The update was disclosed in a Form 8-K, a standard filing companies use to inform investors of major events that shareholders should know about. In this case, it included the resignation of a key executive, as well as a major index reconstitution that may affect fund tracking performance. The filing warns of tracking error risk, noting: 'Beginning on June 2, 2025, the Index introduced additional Index Constituents… Under current regulatory restrictions, the Trust is only permitted to hold bitcoin and ether… As a result, the Trust's performance may be materially different from the performance of the Index.' Nasdaq has also filed a proposed rule change (SR-NASDAQ-2025-009) with the SEC that would allow the ETF to formally change its benchmark to the broader Nasdaq Crypto Index™ (NCI), enabling it to hold all nine listed crypto assets including LINK, LTC, and UNI. A decision on that proposal is expected by November 2, 2025.
