The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year. But beyond the science, it's a moment that reminds us to step outside, lift our faces to the sun, and take a deep breath.

We've made it through spring's uncertainty, now it's time to enjoy everything summer brings.
☀️ Welcome, Summer! 🌻
The Summer Solstice is almost here—the day when the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky for the Northern Hemisphere. It brings the longest day and the shortest night of the year, officially marking the start of summer.

The energy changes. Whether it's the sound of waves, the scent of freshly cut grass, or the laughter echoing from a backyard barbecue, the season knows how to speak to our senses.
Happy Summer Solstice! ☀️
Today marks the longest day of the year thanks to the earth's tilt being at its maximum angle away from the sun.
How are you celebrating the solstice? Bonus points for cute pet photos.

Around the world, people celebrate this time in their own ways. Some gather at ancient sites, others with music and food, and many of us with nothing more than a blanket, a good book, or a trip to the nearest park.

There's no right way to celebrate, only the feeling of being present and alive.

Either way, it's an invitation to reconnect with nature, with people, and with ourselves.
So whether you spend today basking in the sun or quietly watching it set, take a moment to be grateful. For the light. For the warmth. For the season ahead.

It's Official: Summer 2025 Is On
Rana Atef Summer officially kicks off on 21 June, and it will last for 93 days, 15 hours, and 39 minutes. The summer solstice is taking place on June 21 at 5:42 am (Cairo time). Summer is the hottest of the four seasons, and it situates after spring and before autumn. During the summer solstice, daylight hours become longer, on the other hand, darkness hours become shortest. In addition, day length decreases as the season progresses after the solstice. The earliest sunrises and latest sunsets also occur near the date of the solstice. Summer is defined as starting at the summer solstice, the time of maximal insolation, identified on June 21. The season takes place in the months of June, July, and August in the northern hemisphere and the months of December, January, and February in the southern hemisphere. read more 15 Ludicrous Cosplay Costumes That Will Blow You Away Watch... 3rd Grüne Fête de la Musique to Take Place on June 19 & 21
Rana Atef The Goethe-Institut Cairo and the French Institute of Egypt are joining forces to energize the Egyptian music scene with the third edition of La Grüne Fête de la Musique, taking place on June 19 at Antoniades Park in Alexandria and June 21 at the Greek Campus in Downtown Cairo. This unique event, at the crossroads of French, German, and Egyptian cultures, celebrates music in all its diversity, promoting encounter, creativity, and sustainability—true to the 'green' DNA of this environmentally conscious festival. This edition will spotlight an eclectic lineup of Egyptian, French, and German artists, blending contemporary music, electro, folk, jazz, and sound experimentation. Free concerts, open to all, will be held at iconic venues in both Cairo and Alexandria. An Eco-Conscious Festival This year's theme, "The Community as a Driver of Change", explores how every citizen can act daily in concrete ways to support more environmentally responsible practices. A series of workshops and talks in both Alexandria and Cairo will raise public awareness and showcase numerous Egyptian initiatives through dedicated stands. La Grüne Fête de la Musique also places sustainability at the heart of its production: scenography using recycled materials, waste reduction, public education about carbon footprints, and promotion of eco-friendly mobility will all be emphasized. In parallel with the festival, Egyptian arts and culture professionals, particularly festival organizers, are invited to take part in two days of discussions on June 20 and 21, aimed at developing common tools for implementing eco-friendly practices in their events. A Diverse and Inclusive Lineup In the lead-up to the event, a music residency will be held in Alexandria from June 15 to 19, featuring the participation of Yann Tambour (France), Ahmed Omar and Nour Ashour (Egypt), and Jamila & The Other Heroes (Germany). The residency will be organized by B'sarya for Art and facilitated by musician Ahmed Saleh. The festival's musical program will also feature a wide range of artists and bands from Egypt, France, and Germany, including: Too Fuse, Stranded Horse & Boubacar Cissokho, Jamila & The Other Heroes, and Lella Fadda. Institutional and Media Support About the Organizers: In 2023, the French and Goethe Institutes in Egypt launched Grüne Musique, a green celebration of music and environmental initiatives, amplifying the substantial efforts of Egyptian civil society in promoting environmental sustainability. The Institut français d'Égypte (IFE) is part of the Embassy of France in Egypt. It promotes French culture, language, and expertise in Egypt and supports cooperation between Egypt and France in various fields: education, language, arts and culture, academia, science, and technology. The Institute also offers French language courses for youth, adults, and professionals, as well as Arabic language courses for French or third-country students. The Goethe-Institut Cairo is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, operating worldwide. It promotes cultural exchange, education, and social dialogue in an international context and supports the teaching and learning of the German language. In Cairo, the Goethe-Institut operates from three locations: Goethe-Institut Historical Building at Bustan (Downtown), and Palm Garden and White Villa (Dokki). read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand
