Cairo producers Hisham and Darb drop 'MOSHGHBA', a split EP of dark, bass-heavy tracks inspired by a tense night in Mit 'Okba.
Jun 12, 2025
Cairo-based producers Hisham and Darb have teamed up for a new split EP titled 'MOSHGHBA', released via MOSHTRQ. The project blends elements of bass music, Arabic hip-hop, and experimental club sounds into a dark and intense four-track release.
Inspired by a restless night in Mit 'Okba, the EP tells a story through sound, from quiet tension to full-blown chaos. Hard drums, layered textures, and distorted rhythms carry the energy of a city on edge. The release also includes bonus tracks and unreleased material from both artists.
Darb, based in Madrid, focuses on reshaping Egyptian sounds with heavy bass. Hisham brings a multidisciplinary approach, combining music with visuals and fashion to build a distinct sonic identity. MOSHTRQ · EP01: Hisham x Darb - MOSHGHBA

Backstage: ZIAD ZAZA at Nawafiz Festival

The Egyptian rap star reflects on turning 25 and connecting with the crowd after his Netherlands debut at Nawafiz Festival. Jun 13, 2025 Just after his debut performance in the Netherlands at this year's Nawafiz Festival in Utrecht, co-curated by SceneNoise, Egyptian rapper ZIAD ZAZA took a moment to step back and reflect. The night wasn't just a milestone in his career. It felt like something deeper—a moment of shared presence with a crowd that felt strangely familiar. For ZAZA, it's never been about performing 'at' people. The energy he draws comes from a sense of closeness, even in places he's never been. Whether it's faces he recognizes from past shows or new ones that seem instantly in sync, it's the connection that stays with him. That sense of community felt especially strong at Nawafiz. In a city far from home, the festival created a space where Arabic music didn't feel like an export or a novelty. It felt local and rooted. For members of the diaspora who rarely get to experience this music live, it was a long-awaited moment. The show also happened to land right around his 25th birthday—a milestone that brought with it a wave of mixed emotions. Backstage there was celebration, cake, and chaos, but underneath it all was a quiet awareness of time passing. Turning 25 made him reflect on where he stands and where he's headed. He spoke candidly about the fear of time slipping away, of growing older in a world that moves fast. In the face of that, he's focused on making it count. For him, making music isn't just about success or recognition. It's about surviving, finding joy, honoring his faith, and giving his craft the attention it deserves. Watch the full video here:

SELECTS: A Retro Rewind with Egyptian Artist ‘MarceloMarc'

He said vintage, we said obsessed. If you've ever spotted a cropped shirt, cowboy boots, and vintage curls zooming past the streets of Cairo on a Jawa motorbike—chances are you've just had a run-in with Mahmoud Ahmed Mohamed. The 26-year-old Egyptian artist, who goes by MarceloMarc on socials, is a model, actor, and content creator who sees fashion as more than clothes. 'It's art,' he tells SceneStyled. 'It's not easy to have your own style. It takes courage to wear what you love and make your mark, especially when you're not famous or well-known.' Once a football player, he ditched the pitch for panache. 'I was always drawn to vintage style, strange colours and unusual styling. I didn't even care about pictures at first—until I realised I had to build a portfolio. Then people started noticing, and the rest just happened.' His signature look? 'Tall hair. Cropped shirt. Charleston trousers. Cowboy boots. Jawa motorbike.' He draws from his favourite brands; the grunge and structure of Rick Owens, the attitude of Chrome Hearts, the tailored edge of YSL and Burberry, the glamour of Cartier, and the workwear ease of Carhartt and Levi's— but remixes them through his own lens. 'Some time after I began shooting, I naturally gravitated towards creating videos with a vintage feel. It became a space where I could experiment with archival-inspired looks and nostalgic soundtracks.' With a new trap track dedicated to his beloved Jawa, an emotional short film on the horizon, and a thrift shop in the works, the model is busy. But his style? Always on. 'What I wear reflects my mood. Dark leather when I'm feeling intense, colour when I want to connect,' he says. 'I want young people to feel like they can wear what they want, walk down the street, and not care what anyone thinks.' Look One | The Wild Wild West El Balad A vintage fever dream in sepia tone, this look channels outlaw energy with a Cairo twist— cowboy boots, tall hair, an unbuttoned floral shirt, and a Jawa motorbike parked like it owns the street. 'I chose this look because it's comfortable—and let's just say, perfect for fixing up the motorbike.' A Spiro Spathis bottle in hand, a Rolls Royce wrench on standby, and Chrome Hearts glinting in the sun. If you blinked, you'd think this was shot in '70s Texas— not downtown Cairo. Relive Thrift Store | Printed Open Shirt Chrome Hearts | Back Door WGP-WMH sunglasses Harley Davidson | Men's Thornton 6.25-Inch Brown Boots Levi's | Vintage Straight Cut Jeans Stetson | Deadwood 4X Cowboy Hat Jawa | 1985 Motorcycle Rolls Royce | Engraved Wrench Spiro Spathis | Lemon Flavour Look Two | The Godfather Rides Jawa 'This look was inspired by '60s cinema and mafia films, like Goodfellas and Casino,' he says. 'I just really love heels, which is why I threw on a pair with this look.' From the wide lapel to the vintage stripes, this power suit moment is equal parts Cairo and cinema. Styled with caramel-toned boots and chunky gold jewellery, the look is topped off with his go-to Jawa motorbike, revving straight from 1985. 'The motorcycle is always with me—I'm ready to pull up and make an entrance anywhere.' No Man Walks Alone | Work Shirt in Ecru Cotton with Blue and Tan Retro Stripes Gucci | Brown Pinstripe Suit Marcozo | Gold Jewellery Walter Steiger | Vintage Handmade Cognac Leather Slip-On Jawa | 1985 Motorcycle Look Three | The Balad's Bandit A sepia-drenched silhouette straight out of a spaghetti western—if that western was shot on the outskirts of Maadi and styled by a vintage-obsessed cowboy artist. 'I think this was my favourite outfit—probably the most 'brown' outfit I've ever worn. I've been really into brown lately, maybe it's just a colour phase, but I loved how this look came together.' With flared espresso cords, a distressed leather jacket, and boots that have seen more than one Cairo alley, this look says 'don't follow me—I'm lost too'. Add in a flick of the Stussy lighter and a bandana knotted just right, and the desert outlaw fantasy is complete. 'I had to go with the Harley Davidson pair—they're just the most comfortable shoes for this kind of outfit.' Harley Davidson | Harness Leather Riding Boots Ray Ban | Tortoiseshell Square Frames Cavender's | Vintage Woven Bandana Coût De La Liberté | Heidi-Embellished Stretch Cord Super HR Super Bell Beljoy | Chunky Signet Rings Aero Leather Clothing | Horsehide Men's Brown Rare Highwayman Stussy | Chrome Lighter Etsy UK | Layered Coin Necklace Stack Look Four | Zamalek's Midnight Rider A full-black fit made for the type of guy who rolls his own cigarettes, knows where the best koshary in town is, and has way too much Chrome Hearts for someone who hangs out in stairwells. 'For me, of course, my favourite brand is Chrome Hearts—so I feel like matching the outfit with Chrome Hearts accessories just makes it all come together,' he tells SceneStyled. A downtown cowboy gone noir; complete with a vest straight out of an old western, grills that glint with menace, and a belt buckle that could knock someone out cold. 'I'm a huge fan of cowboy boots– they just give outfits a certain oomph.' He's in a mustard shirt unbuttoned just enough, a turquoise ring sparkling under fluorescent light, and yellow-tinted sunnies that say 'I'm judging your taste—but in a sexy way'. 'From the colour palette—mustard yellow, denim blues, and the vest—to the record player in the background, this look captures and revives the 70s era,' he explains. It's retro, rakish, and ready for a late-night boogie in boots. 'This could totally be the go-to look for a '70s house party. It's the kind of outfit someone would've owned back then—playful, nostalgic, and made for dancing.'
