Prince Louis' honest thoughts on flypast caught in touching comment to Kate Middleton
Prince Louis was visibly thrilled as he witnessed an impressive flypast from the Buckingham Palace balcony this afternoon.
Alongside siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte, his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton, and many other royals, little Louis joined in commemorating VE Day today. A march by NATO allies and 1,300 UK armed forces personnel along the Mall unfolded before the Royal Family, igniting a week-long celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe.
The young prince, who turned seven just last month, was characteristically energetic and animated, with a lip reader capturing his charming exchanges on the balcony. Jeremy Freeman noted Princess Kate prompting her youngest with: "You excited?" to which an enthusiastic Louis responded: "Yes. Over there, Red Arrows!"
As the renowned aircraft ripped across the sky, seven-year-old Louis couldn't help but exclaim: "Yeah, yes! That's so loud."
He went on to make a heartwarming four-word remark, saying: "What a wonderful day." Kate reciprocated her son's delight, laughing along with him: "Yes, ha ha."
Louis' particular intrigue with the display might stem from a very personal aspiration. Last year, in 2023, the young prince expressed his dream to become a fighter pilot.
During a conversation at The Big Help Out over Coronation weekend, when a volunteer suggested he might wish to be an artist when he grows up, Louis stood firm on his ambition, asserting: "No, I want to be a fighter pilot."

Earlier in the day, young Prince Louis was caught on film attentively dusting off his father William's right shoulder. The charming action did not go unnoticed by royal fans who flocked to social media commenting on the delightful scene, labelling it "so adorable".
Adding to the day's amusement, Louis also had a playful moment where he imitated his older brother George. Seconds after George adjusted his hair, Louis copied the gesture.
After the parade, George joined his parents at a veterans' tea party, engaging with 101-year-old Royal Engineers veteran Alfred Littlefield, who served during the D-Day landings.
With a smile, Prince William greeted the veterans, expressing how "very important" it was for George and the "next generation" to connect with and learn from the experiences of those who served in wartime.
George displayed great interest during the conversations, prompting William to mention to veteran Douglas Hyde that his son was "very keen" to ask questions about his service.
After their chat, Mr Littlefield's granddaughter Samantha Davidson, 58, from Denmead in Hampshire, recounted to PA: "The Prince said George is very interested in finding out about the veterans. George even asked my grandfather how old he was during his service."
She relayed that George even inquired about her grandfather's age during his time in service.
The King and Queen are "looking forward" to the week's events, and Buckingham Palace has expressed hope that "nothing will detract or distract from celebrating with full cheer and proud hearts that precious victory and those brave souls, on this most special and poignant of anniversaries", showing immense respect for the surviving veterans.

ITV period drama 'like spoonful after spoonful of splendid jam' streaming for free now
Home Fires, which is currently available to stream for free on UKTV, is set in a fictional rural Cheshire community and follows the lives of members of the Great Paxford Women's Institute Crafted by ITV, Home Fires stands as a British period drama that unfolded across two series. Conceived by Simon Block and jointly helmed by Robert Quinn and Bruce Goodinson, this 2015 historical television programme chronicles the experiences of Great Paxford Women's Institute members on the Home Front throughout World War II. Drawing inspiration from Julie Summers' novel Jambusters, Home Fires unfolds in Great Paxford, a fictitious rural Cheshire village, and centres on the women's experiences as they face wartime adversity, limited supplies, and personal challenges during the conflict whilst discovering innovative methods to discover resilience and meaning through collective endeavours. The programme's inaugural series spans from September 1939 through to early 1940, whilst its second series commences during the summer of 1940. Featuring an outstanding ensemble cast predominantly comprising women such as Francesca Annis, Samantha Bond, Leanne Best, Fenella Woolgar, and Claire Rushbrook, Home Fires attracted an average audience of 6.2 million throughout its debut series. The programme's second run achieved comparable triumph. Presently accessible to watch without charge on UKTV, the period drama maintains a flawless 100 per cent critics approval score on review aggregation platform Rotten Tomatoes, where it garnered glowing reviews, with one reviewer noting: "Home Fires offers British drama that's as satisfying as a warm cup of tea." As per the Express, another critic praised the series, saying: "It's more uplifting and affirming than challenging or surprising, and it is handsomely made with convincing period detail and a fine cast delivering top notch performances." Meanwhile, a third reviewer kept it simple, declaring: "This series is spoonful after spoonful of splendid jam." Viewers were equally smitten with the wartime drama, with one devotee gushing: "The name being Home Fires on Masterpiece, it doesn't lie about the Masterpiece part." Another fan raved: "Loved, loved, loved this series! ! Just heard they are doing a second season, hurray! Just good, clean TV about regular people dealing with irregular circumstances. Please continue the series." A third enthusiast observed: "The show follows several women and the challenges they face in supporting the war effort. Some of the story lines are more soap opera than others, but I am enjoying every minute." One admirer penned: "One of the many really good shows from England, Australia and New Zealand. Honest look at how life was during the Second World War. Shows the effect on the families and those left behind when the 'boys' go off to war." Just days following the airing of series two's final episode, ITV delivered crushing news that the programme wouldn't be returning for a third run - despite its triumph and leaving devoted fans absolutely gutted, who flocked to launching a campaign to resurrect the series, which gathered over 50,000 signatures. An ITV spokesperson announced: "The ITV commissioning team continues to refresh the channel's drama portfolio, hence the decision not to commission a further new series." Despite a spirited campaign, efforts to save the show fell flat, leading to its official axing in 2016.

Brit tried 'cheapest full English in Benidorm' and is left floored
A Brit who travelled to Benidorm was left 'amazed' by the full English breakfast he tried for less than £4 at a popular restaurant in the area A British bloke was left "amazed" after tucking into Benidorm's"cheapest" full English breakfast, costing less than £4. The Spanish town, nestled in Alicante province, is a beloved getaway for many Brits, and 32 year old Louis Grier has embraced it as his new abode. Louis, who has settled in the sun-drenched coastal resort, recently stumbled upon an irresistible deal for the quintessential full English brekkie priced at just £3.90. He keeps his 43.2K TikTok followers in the loop with regular updates about his Benidorm escapades, offering advice and insights to those pondering a holiday or a move to the area. In one of his latest TikTok clips, which has garnered over 58K views, Louis popped into Mariano's, a renowned eatery in Benidorm, eager to sample their version of the classic full English breakfast. At the start of the video, he addresses his audience, saying: "Today, I am going to Mariano's to see what the English breakfast is like there. "I've had the Spanish breakfast - it's not bad, it is a Spanish restaurant, after all - but I'm going to try the full English breakfast. "They've got an offer on for €4.50 (£3.90). Mariano's is great for many things but I've never really had breakfast here, so let's try it." Regrettably, the meal fell short of Louis's hopes. He displayed his plate to viewers, showing two slices of Spanish toast topped with two fried eggs, accompanied by a single sausage, two mushrooms, a tomato, one hash brown and two bacon rashers. After sampling the food, he admitted he "wasn't expecting much for €4.50" but declared the "breakfast was absolutely awful", describing it as among "the worst" he's "ever had" in Benidorm. He went on to explain: "I visited Mariano's, a renowned restaurant in Benidorm. "It is celebrated for its exceptional chicken, considered by many to be the finest in Spain, and is also highly regarded as the best take away in Benidorm. "Considering its popularity among both English and Spanish speakers, this establishment has consistently provided excellent food to British patrons for numerous years, and I have thoroughly enjoyed many wonderful takeaway meals. "However, I regret to say that the breakfast was quite unappetising, and I was unable to eat it – it was that bad." Providing further insight into why he found the breakfast so disappointing, he continued: "It tasted undercooked and of very low quality. "I would maybe go back but only for its famous chicken." Louis's footage attracted hundreds of responses, with viewers eager to share their own opinions. One viewer commented: "That's all I've tried there. It's terrible, so I've never been back. The place is a dump." Another individual remarked: "Looked ok for the price", and a third concurred, stating: "What was wrong with it, everything looked fine, that's not a fair review". A different commenter noted: "Mariano's has gone right down hill to what it used to be". Yet another person shared their experience: "I once had one from there, it was terrible", while another countered: "Still the best place for chicken. And their garlic bread is to die for!".
