Fans of the popular BBC soap, EastEnders, are only just realising that one legendary cast member has a very famous brother in the acting industry who helped her bag her first big role.
Laila Morse, best known for her role of Mo Harris in the beloved soap, made her debut on the programme back in 2000 as the loud matriarch of the Slater family with her famous one-liners.
But what many viewers don't know about Laila is that she didn't make it in the industry until she was 51-years-old- and it was her famous younger brother who helped her get there. Fans were floored when they discovered that Laila, now 79, is the older sister of none other than Hollywood sensation Gary Oldman, reports The Daily Record.
Gary, 67, rose to fame in the mid 1980s and made his acting debut in the film Remembrance in 1982. The actor is best known for his roles in Bram Stoker's Dracula, Immortal Beloved, Sid & Nancy, Batman The Dark Knight and Harry Potter where he plays Sirius Black.
He's had a wildly successful career, having won three British Academy Film Awards, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his work.

Gary attended drama school as a child while Laila, whose real name is Maureen Oldman, took a very different path as she left school without any qualifications and fell pregnant at 17.
She went on to welcome her two children, Gerry and Tracey, during her first marriage to Gerald Bromfield which ended in 1970 after he was jailed for theft. She remarried to a man named Jimmy Bass who she divorced in 2003 after nine years together.
Laila worked in hospitality and retail before her acting career finally took off later in life and she has previously credited her brother for helping her get her foot in the door by landing her first role in Gary's 1997 Nil By Mouth film.
She then made her TV debut in two episodes of The Bill, as well as TV production of Great Expectations.
She previously told Loose Women: "My big brother wrote and directed Nil by Mouth. He just wanted something raw. He was with a friend and he just said, 'she could do that'. I just looked at him and went what? I can't do that.
"He said, 'Come back to the hotel and read a bit', which I did...and he went, 'right you're doing it.' That's the first thing I'd ever done."
Laila then went on to secure her role as 'Big Mo' in the BBC soap in 2000.
She has appeared in the show intermittently for the past two and a half decades, with stints from 2000-2016 and 2018-2022.
Mo returned to Albert Square in May last year on a permanent basis with her great grandson Freddie Slater, who is played by Bobby Brazier.
Laila and her brother Gary are known to be very close with the siblings spending Christmas Day together at Gary's California home in 2018.
In sweet photos, shared by Gary's wife Giselle Schmidt, the family grinned for the camera around the dinner table with another snap showing Laila making a "proper English Christmas dinner" for them to tuck into.
Meanwhile back in 2021, the pair enjoyed a sibling trip to Las Vegas. Taking to her Instagram at the time, Laila shared a snap of her and Gary, writing: 'Throwback to our trip to Las Vegas.'
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer

Teen arrested for sick crime and a surprise exit on EastEnders next week
It's set to be a jam packed week in EastEnders next week - as Joel Marshall's storyline takes a dark turn - with Kat and Alfie left fearing for their son Tommy Fans can prepare for yet another jam packed week in EastEnders next week - as teen Joel Marshall 's storyline takes it's darkest turn yet. Ever since Joel Marshall arrived on the Square earlier this year, it's been bad news. His secrets were slowly revealed, but it became evident he hadn't changed his ways after secretly filming his intimate moment with A vani Nandra-Hart. Now, things are set to take a criminal turn. In recent weeks, Joel has been seen trying to get Kat and Alfie's son Tommy involved in his wrongdoings, and next week, he leaves him horrified with his actions when he assaults a stranger on the tube. The duo are set to travel on the tube home, when Joel asks Tommy to film him. With no ideas of his intentions, Tommy is left is horrified when he witnesses Joel pretending to fall on fellow passenger, Isla, who he touches inappropriately. Isla then reports Joel to staff, as he's immediately apprehended - leaving Ross and Vicki horrified. With Ross demanding answers, Vicki is supportive of Isla's decision to report Joel. However, later on, she meets up with Isla and offers her money to drop the complaint. Kat is also left distressed about Joel's influence on Tommy - and things get worse when she gets no support from Alfie. Kat doesn't feel like she's getting anywhere with her partner - and things go from bad to worse when he tells her that he needs to go to visit Spencer in Australia as he's in turmoil. With Alfie away, how will Kat cope with Tommy? It's thought that Alfie's 'exit' coincides with Shane Richie 's recent break from the soap, in which he starred in variety show The Prat Pack alongside Bradley Walsh, former co-star Brian Conley and Joe Pasquale. It's not Kat's only problem, as Jean is left furious furious about the press coverage of Kat, Alfie and Harvey's wedding business as it suggests Kathy is Mrs Monroe. Visibly upset, she takes action to sabotage the limo business until Alfie manages to talk her down. Away from the Slater and Moon's, we're set to see Phil and Linda's friendship on screen once again, as Phil notices how much Linda is struggling with doing to bar alone so ends up helping her out. It may also be bad news for those hoping for a Priya and Ravi reunion, as a tipsy Elaine offers to book Priya a singles cruise. Will a new love interest be on the cards? Linda is left horrified however, when she sees £5k leave the business account.

Farewell to Frederick Forsyth, the master of the thriller
If Frederick Forsyth had not existed, you would have had to invent him. Yet no novelist could have come up with as convivial, swashbuckling and lively a character as the thriller writer, who has died at the age of 86. Many of his millions of admirers thought him almost immortal, and over the course of a half-century career – which began in earnest with the publication of The Day of the Jackal in 1971 and seldom slackened thereafter – Forsyth produced a series of bestsellers that sold tens of millions of copies in dozens of languages. After briefly serving as an RAF pilot, he went to work at Reuters and then as a BBC correspondent, where one of his assignments was to cover the attempted assassination of Charles de Gaulle in August 1962.

EastEnders stars deny huge theory about new Queen Vic owner after 'red herring'
EastEnders's current Queen Vic owners Elaine and George Knight are going nowhere amid the famous pub seemingly being up for sale on the BBC soap, according to cast members Two EastEnders stars have told The Mirror rumours circulating about The Queen Vic having new owners are simply not true. Cast members Harriet Thorpe and Colin Salmon seemed genuinely confused when we asked them about the famous pub being up for sale. In fact they very quickly denied this, and the theories surrounding some potential new owners. Just weeks ago viewers claimed to spot a 'for sale' sign outside the pub in a backstage video. With that it was believed the Knights would no longer run the pub, and that someone else would be taking over. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards, Harriet, who plays landlady Elaine Peacock, was quick to shut down the claims - while of course she could have been throwing us off the scent. Co-star Colin, who plays Elaine's husband George Knight, also denied any knowledge of the pub being up for sale, or their characters being booted out. Instead, Harriet claimed the sign and speculation was all a massive "red herring". When we asked if the pub was being sold, Colin said this was not the case while Harriet told us: "No... it could be a red herring." The pair looked at each other appearing confused by the rumours too, while viewers will just have to wait and see what the sign was all about. Whatever happens, Colin says the show is in "a good place" as Ben Wadey takes over as Executive Producer, following Chris Clenshaw stepping down this year. "I have always been a fan. There's great writing, we all work really hard. "I think the authenticity of the humour of the East End, it's that you get stuff thrown at you and go, 'oh that's fine, we'll deal with it', and then it all comes crashing down later, like in life. We're in a very good place with the show and it's fantastic for us." Harriet added: "Ben is wonderful. He's creative, collaborative and that's all you need." Colin teased with Ben's takeover will come new focuses, one being the younger cast really taking centre stage. He shared: "It's great, we watch the show, we learn, we collaborate. It's nice to see the youngsters coming forward. They're all brilliant, amazing actors." It follows spoilers revealing Elaine and George could hit the rocks once more, amid trouble with George's ex Cindy Beale and Elaine's own drama. Teasing their future as a couple, Harriet commented: "The thing about Elaine and George is that they are mature adults and can talk things through, but we'll have to see won't we." Asked whether love rival Cindy could ultimately tear the couple apart for good, Harriet savagely quipped: "Cindy who?" She added of Elaine's turmoil: "Cindy is always lurking in the bushes, ready to jump out at George and as far as Elaine is concerned, she's an irritant. The trouble is that Cindy is everything that Elaine isn't." Colin hinted it isn't Michelle Collins' character who he wants George to end up with, adding: "If Cindy has her way we're all screwed!" As for Harriet, the ever-changing plots and unexpected twists all make the job worthwhile. She said: "You never know what is happening next and that's the gift of the job. It gives you the opportunity to play different things you'd never think of, it's so wonderful." Colin went on: "It could all change at any time," with Harriet agreeing that "in a nanosecond" everything alters.
