Ravens' Isaiah Likely needs surgery, but could be back early in the season
Coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Wednesday. He said the previous day that Likely hurt his ankle and foot area and would miss several weeks.
NFL.com reported Likely would miss about six weeks — and Baltimore's season opener is on Sept 7.
'He's going to have surgery,' Harbaugh said. 'I think the timeline I saw actually was accurate, on the timeline that was reported. So we've got a shot to get him back there right away early. We'll see.'
Likely set career highs last season with 42 receptions for 477 yards and six touchdowns. It was his third season in the NFL.
'It was early in camp, and it's not one of those major-type of deals,' Harbaugh said. 'But it's something. It's multiple weeks.'

Jaxson Dart is QB3 on Giants' first depth chart
Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has work to go to become the starter. Supposedly. The 25th pick in the 2025 draft lands at third on the team's initial depth chart of 2025, behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Rounding out the quarterback room is Tommy DeVito, at fourth string. Per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the actual practices have had Dart taking reps after Wilson and before Winston. The move could be an effort to show that Dart will earn his spot by overcoming obstacles, eventually moving past Winston before leapfrogging Wilson. Alternatively (or perhaps additionally), the positioning could be aimed at showcasing Winston, who could be the odd man out when it's time to trim the depth chart from four to three. Before releasing Winston, it would make sense to try to trade him. DeVito is destined to be cut and, if he clears waivers, to sign with the practice squad. The bigger question is whether the Giants keep Winston on the 53-man roster, to go along with Wilson and Dart. The biggest question is when will Dart play? In 2004, Kurt Warner was benched despite a 5-4 record because the Giants were ready to flip the switch to Eli Manning.

Louisiana-Monroe coach Bryant Vincent named as school's interim athletic director
Louisiana-Monroe football coach Bryant Vincent is now the school's interim athletic director. Vincent was placed in charge of the school's athletic department on Tuesday following John Hartwell's resignation on Monday. Vincent, who is entering just his second season at ULM, will continue to coach the football team as the interim AD in a unique situation. No other head coach at the FBS level also serves as his school's athletic director. 'I am grateful to Bryant for stepping up to serve as the interim AD,' ULM president Carrie Castille said in a statement. 'Not only is Bryant a leader, but he builds teams and communities. Bryant has the support of the associate ADs and will be working closely with them to ensure he can serve both roles and win games. He has already gained the support of this community as a head coach, and I hope that everyone will join me in rallying around him to support ULM athletics.' According to Hartwell resigned over budget issues. The school has one of the smallest athletic department budgets among those that compete at the top level of college football and there could be more cuts coming to that budget. The school said Monday that Hartwell "will be pursuing other professional opportunities." Hartwell hired Vincent after the 2023 season. Vincent, who was the interim coach at UAB in 2022, was passed over for the permanent job with the Blazers and moved to Monroe, where the team had its best season since 2019. ULM was a win away from the school's first bowl game since 2012 halfway through the 2024 season, but ended the year on a six-game losing streak.
