Sacked Infosys techie in Bengaluru confesses filming women in washroom, says derived ‘satisfaction', collected 50 videos
The accused reportedly mentioned that he felt a sense of "satisfaction" from watching these videos and had downloaded over 50 such clips on his phone, the report said.
The woman who reported the incident in the First Information Report (FIR) said that she saw Nagesh filming her from the next cubicle while using the washroom, panicked, and raised an alarm. Other employees rushed over. His phone was seized and contained several videos, which HR later deleted in the woman's presence, NDTV reported.
The accused has recorded more than 30 videos of different women inside the office washroom, which was present on his mobile phone, according to an internal investigation. This sparked further outrage, particularly after the woman's husband learned of the incident and approached the management.
The woman also filed a formal complaint at the Electronic City police station. Following her complaint, based on her statement and the collected evidence, Swapnil was arrested. He now faces serious charges, including invasion of privacy and sexual harassment.
Infosys issues an official statement confirming that the employee has been terminated.
'We are aware of this incident and have taken necessary action against the employee, who is now separated from the company,' Infosys said.
'We also promptly supported the complainant by facilitating a swift complaint with the law enforcement authorities and continue to cooperate as they investigate further. Infosys is committed to providing an environment free of harassment and has a zero-tolerance policy. We take every complaint related to any violation of the company's Code of Conduct seriously," Infosys further said.

Fisherman pulled into sea by suspected marlin off Andhra coast; search underway
A 28-year-old fisherman, Chodapalli Yerayya , has gone missing in the sea after being pulled into deep waters by a large fish—believed to be a black marlin—around 20 nautical miles off the north Andhra coast. Yerayya, a resident of Pudimadaka coastal village in Atchutapuram mandal, Anakapalle district, was fishing with three others when the incident occurred. According to police, Yerayya was using a line fishing method and had just cast his bait when a massive marlin—locally known as 'Kommu Konam'—bit the hook. Caught off guard by the fish's power, Yerayya was dragged into the sea before he could react. Despite frantic efforts by his fellow fishermen and alerts to nearby boats, Yerayya could not be located, raising fears that he may have drowned. This marks the second marlin-related incident in Anakapalle district in recent years. In February 2022, Molli Joganna, another fisherman from the region, was fatally impaled by a black marlin while fishing about 60 nautical miles from the coast. Joganna had entered the water to check a net when the trapped marlin escaped and pierced his abdomen with its sharp snout. He died instantly despite rescue attempts. Black marlins are massive predatory fish, often weighing hundreds of kilograms and capable of swimming at speeds up to 109 km/h in short bursts. Their spear-like beaks make them particularly dangerous when agitated or entangled. Speaking on the recent incident, Atchutapuram SI N. Ganesh confirmed that search operations involving coastal security police and local fisherfolk are ongoing and will resume on Friday. Meanwhile, district fisheries officer G. Vijaya explained that while such incidents are rare, 'a powerful fish like a marlin can potentially drag a fisherman into the sea when it takes the bait.' Madras High Court warns of CBI probe if T.N. police fail to act against Ponmudy for hate speech
The Madras High Court on Friday (July 4, 2025) warned that it would be constrained to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe if the Tamil Nadu police do not take appropriate action on the complaints received against former Minister K. Ponmudy for his derogatory speech against Vaishnavites, Saivites, and women in general. Justice P. Velmurugan also questioned the need for the former Minister to have made such comments. He decided to take a final call on July 8, 2025, on a suo motuwrit petition taken up by the High Court against the Minister at the instance of Justice N. Anand Venkatesh, who held the MP/MLA portfolio in April 2025. Earlier, Advocate General P.S. Raman told the court the police had received just three complaints before the High Court initiated the suo motu proceedings, and all three were closed after not finding any cognisable offence to have been made out for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR). However, thereafter, 112 complaints were received by the police across the State, and they were under examination. He added the complainants could always seek the remedy available to them under the law if they were aggrieved against the closure of their complaints by the police. Mr. Ponmudy was serving as Forest Minister when the speech was delivered at a meeting organised by Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) in Chennai on April 8, 2025. Justice Venkatesh had taken serious note of the issue on April 23, 2025, after video clips of the speech went viral on the social media. Questioning the police for not having registered a criminal case against him on charges of delivering a hate speech, the judge had written: 'The comments, on the face of it, are completely derogatory to women and deliberately spew venom and hatred on the two main sects of Hinduism viz., Saivism and Vaishnavism.'

‘Peculiar Situation': HC Grants Interim Bail To Muslim Youth Who Impregnated Minor Hindu Partner

The HC considered the interest of the child and the girl as the families are now supportive of their union The Allahabad High Court (HC) has granted interim bail to a 20-year-old Muslim man accused of impregnating a Hindu minor girl allegedly after a consensual relationship. The girl, who is five months pregnant, had reportedly eloped with the accused, prompting a criminal case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act filed by her mother. The bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan, on July 1, noted that while the First Information Report (FIR) pegged the girl's age at 15, a medical examination suggested she was around 17 — still below the legal marriageable age of 18. The man, too, has not attained the legal marriageable age of 21, being 20 years and 8 months old. Despite this, the court observed that the girl is carrying the applicant's child and both families are now supportive of their union. In this 'peculiar fact situation", the judge said, the interest of the unborn child and the girl must be considered. The applicant was therefore granted interim bail for two months so that he may support and take care of the girl during her pregnancy. The couple's interfaith background added legal complexity. Since the man is Hindu and the girl is Muslim, the court clarified that any lawful marriage between them would have to be conducted under the Special Marriage Act. However, being minors in the eyes of marriage law, they are currently ineligible to marry legally. Both the girl and her mother are to appear in court on September 3, 2025, to inform the judge whether the man is fulfilling his responsibility and whether the girl is satisfied with his conduct.
