"Thoda Seekh Lo": Pakistani Journalist Slammed For Posting Old Gaza Video As Op Sindoor

The Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' on Wednesday, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), weeks after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. India carried out 24 precision missile strikes targeting 9 locations, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke. Amid this, a Pakistani journalist shared an old video from Gaza claiming it was of the Indian strike.
'Indian attack in Bahawalpur,' Sabir Shakir wrote on X, sharing the footage showing missile strikes being carried out at night. Shakir's X bio says he is a journalist with Pakistan's ARY news channel.

A Google reverse image search of the video shows it was first shared by Kabul News in 2023, reporting on an incident from Gaza, and it is not from Pakistan, as claimed.
'Israel intensified its bombing of Gaza last night. According to Palestinian media reports, 400 people, including women and children, lost their lives in last night's bombings, and hundreds more are still trapped under collapsed buildings,' the Afghanistani news portal wrote in the post shared in 2023.

Netizens soon noticed the video was old and slammed the journalist for misinformation. An X user wrote, "Bhai jhoot ki b had hoti... nechy community note b zra prhy (There is a limit of telling lies, reach the community note below)."
Another user wrote, "Sab kuch fake hain is mulk main (everything is fake in the country)."
A third user said, "bhai kyun fake videos laga rahay ho, thora sikh lo (brother, why are you putting out old videos, learn something)."
India's Action Against Pakistan
India's military strikes, under the codename Operation Sindoor, came two weeks after the Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians were killed in cold blood by terrorists. Sources said over 70 terrorists were killed and more than 60 were wounded in the attack, significantly degrading the operational capability of these groups.
After the operation, the Indian army said "justice is served" to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, with New Delhi stressing its actions "have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature".
"No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and the method of execution," an official statement said.
Indian intelligence has cited clear evidence that the Pakistan Army provided logistical support and safe havens to terrorist groups, and sources said the strikes were aimed at exposing and dismantling this deep-rooted nexus between the military and cross-border terrorism.
The targets included Hizbul Mujahideen's facility in Mehmoona Joya in Sialkot, Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Markaz Ahle Hadith in Barnala and its camp in Muzaffarabad's Shawai Nalla. India also struck at Jaish-e-Mohammad's Markaz Abbas facility in Kotli.

The new salary marks a significant rise from their previous salary of Rs 205,000. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs issued the notification on May 29, but details surfaced on Friday, Samaa TV reported. The monthly salary for both officials has been fixed at Rs 1.3 million and they will also receive an additional 50 per cent as a temporary allowance on top of it, according to the notification. The revised salary structure will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2025. Earlier on March 21, it was reported that the salaries and allowances of federal cabinet members had been significantly increased, with federal ministers, ministers of state and advisers receiving hikes of up to 188 per cent. Sources had said that the federal ministers approved a summary of the salary increments for themselves and ministers of state through circulation. An amendment to the Federal Ministers and Ministers of State (Allowances and Salaries) Act, 1975, was approved, paving the way for these increases. Following the bill's approval, the revised salary of a federal minister, minister of state and adviser would stand at Rs 519,000. Previously, federal ministers were earning Rs 200,000, while ministers of state had a salary of Rs 180,000. This decision marked a substantial 159 per cent increase in the salaries of federal ministers, while ministers of state and advisers have witnessed an increment of up to 188 per cent. Earlier this year, the Finance Committee had approved an increase in the salaries of members of the National Assembly and senators, raising their monthly pay to Rs 519,000, according to the report.

Harsimrat urges EAM to sensitise UAE govt on Sikhs' five articles of faith
Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Saturday urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to initiate a dialogue with the UAE government to sensitise it about the religious significance of the five articles of faith, especially the 'kirpan', for the initiated Sikhs. In a letter to the minister, the Bathinda MP said she was making this appeal in the wake of a recent "advisory" by the Indian Embassy in UAE directing Indians not to carry sharp objects while visiting the country in view of Article 405 of the UAE penal law which prohibits the same. This move has caused deep distress and mental agony to Sikh travellers and residents alike, Harsimrat said, noting that there have been instances of Sikhs being detained and compelled to remove their 'kirpan'. She also cited a recent case of an elderly man being detained in Abu Dhabi for wearing the 'kirpan' and turban. Badal asserted in her letter that such incidents had caused distress within the Sikh community as they contravened the rights of Sikhs to practice their faith besides raising serious concerns about the protection of religious freedom for minorities in the UAE. "The Sikh community has always contributed positively to societies worldwide, including in the UAE, and demand the freedom to practice its faith in accordance with its tenets. "Denying Sikhs the right to wear their five 'kakkars' (Sikh articles of faith worn by baptised Sikhs), particularly the 'kirpan', is a curtailment of religious freedom and contrary to the principles of mutual respect and pluralism that India stands for," she said. The former union minister also requested Jaishankar to consider sending a high-level delegation, including representatives from the National Commission for Minorities and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), to engage with UAE authorities and relevant international agencies and sensitise them about Sikh articles of faith. She asserted that the 'kirpan' was a sacred symbol and an inseparable part of Sikh identity mandated by Sikh tenets since the time of Guru Gobind Singh. "Its significance is spiritual and symbolic, representing the duty to uphold justice and protect the oppressed, and not as a weapon for aggression or harm. The 'kirpan' is worn at all times by 'Amritdhari' Sikhs (initiated Sikhs) as a matter of religious obligation and conscience", she added.

However, he mentioned that Canada and India had agreed to maintain 'continued law enforcement dialogue,' though he did not clarify if this included cooperation in the Nijjar investigation.
