Soccer legends all set for a new chapter in the district
Uthukela District Masters and Legends held its elective conference last Saturday (July 26) at the Town Hall, where a new committee was elected. This makes it possible to identify and 'formalise' soccer legends in the district.
Uthukela District SAFA president Mr DT Phiri and Uthukela Sports Confederation chairperson Mr Thabani Gamede graced the conference with their presence. The KZN Masters and Legends Task Team was represented by its deputy secretary, Nhlakanipho Mkhize. Their aim is to improve the lives of former soccer players.
The committee is responsible for facilitating development programmes for the benefit of its members.

Some of the opportunities that are offered to these legends include accredited soccer coaching programmes; equipping them with business skills; and placing them in schools to assist with soccer coaching, working closely with the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture and private businesses.
The newly-elected structure is as follows: chairperson – IS Mahlambi; deputy chair – Sipho Kubheka; secretary – Sipho Kubheka; deputy secretary – Nondumiso Thabede; treasurer – Philani Kubheka; local organiser – Vukani Manyathi; additional members – Vusi Mazibuko, Phili Mhlanga, Phumlani Mkhize and Vincent 'Ace' Sokhela.

Red Bull Shay' iMoto static car revs up Durban
RED Bull Shay' iMoto is revving up the hype and excitement ahead of their much-anticipated KZN debut at Suncoast Casino on Sunday, August 10, when the smell of burning rubber will overpower the salt-tinged air of Durban's Golden Mile. The event organisers said that this was the perfect way to announce the arrival of the spinning elite who will gather at Suncoast to claim their place in motorsport folklore. 'Durban has always been different. It's where the spinning scene carries its own distinct flavour, influenced by the city's multicultural energy, its proximity to the ocean, and its reputation as the playground of KwaZulu-Natal,' said the organisers. Indeed, the move to Durban represents more than a change of venue, it's a homecoming for a sport that has always belonged to the people,' said the organisers. They added, 'Each driver brings their own story to the tarmac. Some learnt to spin in the shadow of mine dumps, others perfected their craft along beachfront promenades. Some are third-generation spinners, carrying family legacies in their DNA. Others are newcomers who discovered their calling in the smoke and thunder of previous Red Bull Shay' iMoto events.' The list of top 16 drivers includes Boksie, Jabu, Magesh Junior, Makgasa Fire, Robin Fortuin, Sadz – Flyboxin, Skopas / Bad Company, Team 2xspicy JZ, Team Kayla, Team Nevs, Team Osizweni, Team VQ25, Vaaitjie, Ziko and Lockdiff.
