Here's What's Concerning About Redox's (ASX:RDX) Returns On Capital

Yahoo26-05-2025

If we want to find a potential multi-bagger, often there are underlying trends that can provide clues. In a perfect world, we'd like to see a company investing more capital into its business and ideally the returns earned from that capital are also increasing. This shows us that it's a compounding machine, able to continually reinvest its earnings back into the business and generate higher returns. So while Redox (ASX:RDX) has a high ROCE right now, lets see what we can decipher from how returns are changing.
This technology could replace computers: discover the 20 stocks are working to make quantum computing a reality.
For those who don't know, ROCE is a measure of a company's yearly pre-tax profit (its return), relative to the capital employed in the business. The formula for this calculation on Redox is:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.21 = AU$117m ÷ (AU$736m - AU$167m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2024).
Thus, Redox has an ROCE of 21%. In absolute terms that's a great return and it's even better than the Trade Distributors industry average of 12%.

In the above chart we have measured Redox's prior ROCE against its prior performance, but the future is arguably more important. If you're interested, you can view the analysts predictions in our free analyst report for Redox .
On the surface, the trend of ROCE at Redox doesn't inspire confidence. To be more specific, while the ROCE is still high, it's fallen from 33% where it was five years ago. Meanwhile, the business is utilizing more capital but this hasn't moved the needle much in terms of sales in the past 12 months, so this could reflect longer term investments. It's worth keeping an eye on the company's earnings from here on to see if these investments do end up contributing to the bottom line.
On a related note, Redox has decreased its current liabilities to 23% of total assets. That could partly explain why the ROCE has dropped. What's more, this can reduce some aspects of risk to the business because now the company's suppliers or short-term creditors are funding less of its operations. Since the business is basically funding more of its operations with it's own money, you could argue this has made the business less efficient at generating ROCE.
In summary, Redox is reinvesting funds back into the business for growth but unfortunately it looks like sales haven't increased much just yet. Unsurprisingly then, the total return to shareholders over the last year has been flat. On the whole, we aren't too inspired by the underlying trends and we think there may be better chances of finding a multi-bagger elsewhere.
Like most companies, Redox does come with some risks, and we've found 1 warning sign that you should be aware of.

Bianca Censori Makes Bold Business Move Away From Husband Kanye West After Multiple Racy Outings

Bianca Censori has quietly launched her self-named business brand in an apparent bid to kickstart a new phase for herself amid her marriage to Kanye West. This follows a report that the Australian-born architect demanded "independence" from her husband, after he allegedly stopped her from accepting numerous multimillion-dollar offers from fashion houses. Bianca Censori has now become known for her provocative outfits, mainly in the company of Kanye West, and her latest move implies she is ready to step out of his shadow. Censori appears to be embarking on a new career path, having quietly launched her first U.S. company, Bianca Censori Inc. She previously worked for her husband, West, as an architect for his Yeezy brand, but hasn't been in the profession for the last few years. Instead, she has traveled the world with him, often causing unease in her barely there outfits and sultry ensembles. According to The U.S. Sun, Censori registered the company last month with the state of California and also registered her full name, Bianca Censori, as an Australian firm situated in Alphington, a high-scale Melbourne suburb where her parents currently live. She is listed as CEO and secretary. Although the exact nature of her business wasn't revealed, Censori's entrepreneurial venture could be in the Beauty and Cosmetic niche, as the chief financial officer is listed as Hussein Lalani, who specializes in selling cosmetic treatments. Lalani founded the company Zensa, which sells beauty procedures such as a DIY Brazilian wax kit and microblading. According to the news outlet, Lalani's brand also offers "lidocaine numbing cream," which "is formulated for painful procedures like microneedling, waxing, microblading, injections, [and] tattooing." Censori and West are said to have met Lalani at the luxury West Hollywood condo where they lived last year in a $10,000-a-month two-bedroom apartment. Meanwhile, Censori still has her husband to deal with as the "Donda" rapper is listed as a director and the company is using the services of his lawyer, Manoj Shah. Censori and West were hit with divorce rumors after they pulled off a stunt that saw her strip almost naked on the Grammys red carpet. However, things seem to have gotten better following their month-long stay at a wellness center in Spain, where the "Carnival" rapper reportedly went through therapy. "They spent a month at this place called The Balance Clinic, which is basically a holistic therapy spa that has all sorts of things from massages to meditation to yoga to full-on therapy," a source told In Touch Weekly. "It was Bianca's ultimatum, either Ye went or the marriage was over. He begrudgingly agreed, but now he's saying it was a great idea, that she's a genius that saved their marriage," they added. The insider went on to explain that West has been making "big plans" in an attempt to save their marriage. However, sources close to the couple still believe their chances of lasting long-term are very low. "[Kanye's] making all these big plans to renew their vows, and he's back to talking about her having his babies," the source explained. "But it's hard to imagine all that much has changed long-term after a few weeks of getting help. No one is expecting this honeymoon period to last; his circle is all saying it will be back in train wreck territory before long." The source noted that Censori "is very close to her breaking point" in their marriage, adding, "She's giving him another chance, but it's hard to imagine she'll stick around the next time he goes off the rails, which is pretty well a matter of when, not if." Once again, Censori left fans stunned as she took to social media to share sultry photos of herself in a barely there outfit. The 30-year-old model left little to the imagination wearing sheer pantyhose and a see-through black fishnet top. Censori styled her dark hair in an edgy wolf cut and completed the look with oversized sunglasses. She posed with her hands behind her back and her legs spread apart as fans took to the comment section to note how provocative they found her post. It comes after she angered locals in Spain by parading around markets with her chest exposed, leaving onlookers "horrified."

Portugal Golden Visa: Government Plans To Enhance Incentives

Ferragudo in the Algarve. Portugal—the government wants to enhance its golden visa program for expats. The Portugal Golden Visa program, one of Europe's most sought-after residency-by-investment schemes, is poised for significant improvements. With a 72% surge in approvals last year, the government is now considering ways to make the program even more attractive. Proposed changes include potential tax incentives, such as a 20% flat tax on local income and a ten-year exemption on most foreign income. Portugal's Minister of the Presidency, Antonio Leitao Amaro, said in an interview reported by Bloomberg that his government was considering making its golden visa scheme more attractive to foreigners. Portugal's golden visa program offers residency in exchange for a minimum investment of $572,780 (€500,000) and has seen a 72% increase in approvals over the past year, with Americans among the top recipients, according to information from the country's immigration agency, AIMA. The government approved a record number of applicants, 4,987 more than the previous year. This is partly because EU golden visa programs are rare and sought-after. Amaro did not provide specifics, but the idea is to enable new Portuguese residents to benefit from a 20% flat tax on local income and a ten-year exemption on most foreign income. Unlike other EU countries, Amaro said that there are no plans to end the golden visa program in Portugal. He added that AIMA is working on clearing a backlog of almost 45,000 golden visa applications that are currently awaiting review. Portugal's Golden Visa program is one of the most popular globally and one of the few remaining in Europe. In 2024, The Netherlands ended its golden visa scheme. Since the start of the Ukraine war, the U.K. and Ireland ended their programs in 2022 and 2023 due to heightened security concerns. However, the lure of such investment programs is difficult for governments to ignore, as it boosts much-needed government coffers by attracting investment overseas. The U.K. has recently announced that it is considering opening a new golden visa program, but only if it benefits specific sectors critical to the country's economic recovery. Spain abolished its golden visa program in April after months of consideration and protests by locals about rising house prices, as well as concerns from the EU about the use of Spain's golden visa program. Spain plans to welcome 1 million foreign workers to legally reside in the country, including the regularization of undocumented foreign workers, but not through the Golden Visa program. Like many EU countries, it is facing a severe housing shortage. It is improving the situation for residents by severely limiting the use of Airbnb for short-term rentals and introducing a 100% tax on foreign real estate buyers. This policy may reduce the friction between Spanish locals and tourists, which has led to extreme mass demonstrations; activists are planning more protests this month as the Summer tourist season gets underway. Golden visa and passport initiatives come under criticism because opponents argue that such programs enable affluent individuals to effectively purchase residency or citizenship, thereby fostering a system that favors the wealthy and contradicts the EU ideal of equal treatment for all. Malta's High Court recently declared the Malta Golden Visa scheme to be illegal. Critics are also concerned about their potential use in money laundering and ties to criminal networks, prompting countries such as the U.K., Ireland, and later Malta to halt their issuance to Russian and Belarusian applicants in response to the conflict in Ukraine. From an economic perspective, critics argue that the financial input generated primarily serves the interests of a privileged few while driving up property prices and making homes less accessible to locals—an issue that contributed to Spain's decision to scrap its golden visa policy in April 2025. Portugal has always been a firm favorite for expats due to its livable and vibrant cities, favorable climate, and the fact that other EU nations are tightening restrictions on residency by investment. If the Portuguese government sweetens the program's offering, it's apparent demand will remain higher than ever.
