Taylor Swift and Oasis tribute acts among Gorey Market House Festival highlights in July
Philip Knight, Gorey & Kilmuckridge District Manager shared his excitement for the festivals return this July. 'It's a wonderful celebration of local music, culture and community spirit, right here in the heart of Gorey.
'I'd like to sincerely thank the festival committee and volunteers for their tremendous dedication and hard work putting together such a fantastic programme again this year. Events like this are what make Gorey such a vibrant and welcoming place to live and visit.'
Cllr Donal Kenny, cathaoirelach of Gorey and Kilmuckridge Municipal District also praised the committee for their 'tireless efforts'.
"The Gorey Market House Festival is a real highlight of the summer for families and visitors alike. It brings people together, supports local businesses and showcases the wonderful talent we have in our area,' Cllr Donal Kenny said.
Visitors can expect a jam packed schedule of entertainment and events, including free live music on the Main Street all weekend with artists including The Swift Show (Taylor Swift Tribute), Live Forever (Oasis Tribute), and Fairytale of The Pogues (Pogues Tribute) to name a few.
Gorey Market House Festival 2025 will take place the weekend of the July 18, 19 and 20 with music, markets and events suitable for the whole family.

John Aldridge: How Diogo Jota's memory could inspire Liverpool this season
Diogo Jota's tragic passing was a shock that hit us all in different ways and it was beautiful to see how the football world came together to pay tribute. When something like this happens, the tribal nature of our sport is put to one side and we are all reminded that there is a much bigger picture in this world than the colour of a jersey or the badge stuck on it. Photo: Paul Sandle/Reuters We saw wonderful messages from Manchester United and Manchester City and a brilliant tribute by Oasis as they chose a picture of Jota to accompany their song Live Forever on the big screens at their opening comeback concert in Cardiff. Liverpool handled the situation beautifully and the decision to retire Jota's No 20 jersey was a fantastic gesture that will ensure he is always part of the club's history. They have also made sure his wife and children are looked after financially, even though money is pretty irrelevant when they have lived through a trauma like this. I'm sure a final tribute to Diogo will be made in the opening game of the season at Anfield, as a young man who was lost at such a tragically young age alongside his brother Andre should be given a final send-off by Liverpool fans. Before then, the Liverpool players need to deal with their grief in their own way, as Jota was not just a footballer to the lads in that dressing room. He was their friend, their teammate and the shock of what happened will hit them hard. Everyone deals with grief differently and while Jota's passing cannot be compared with the tragedy the Liverpool team I was a part of went through after the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, I remember how we all felt when we went back to the training ground for the first time. Our manager, Kenny Dalglish, said straight away that we didn't have to play if we didn't want to and my initial reaction after Hillsborough was that I didn't want anything to do with football. Those fans who died that day came to watch me and my teammates play football and they never went home. How do you try to come to terms with something like that? I still don't have an answer to that question and all these years later, I still think about the 97 supporters we lost on that desperate day. They will always be in our hearts and I'm sure I speak for everyone in that Liverpool team when I say that horrendous tragedy left a lasting mark on everyone involved, especially the families of the victims. When the time came to get back to football a few weeks later, we replayed the FA Cup semi-final that was halted on that fateful Saturday afternoon, I went onto the field with a very different mindset. That game was more important than any in my career and the goals I scored against Nottingham Forest to get us into the FA Cup final were the most cherished of my career. They were not for me or even the team I loved on that occasion, as it was more important than that. Those two goals were for the boys, girls, fathers and mothers who perished on that terrace at Hillsborough and if it gave the grieving families even an ounce of comfort, then I did what I needed to do at that moment. Winning the FA Cup final against Everton was another tribute to the victims and I have to say that as a team, we were never more united than we were in the weeks immediately after Hillsborough. We didn't just want to win football matches, we had to win them, and that desire was driven by something far more important than medals and achievements in a sporting career. For me, getting out on that football pitch and playing for the people we lost was the only way I could move on. And while losing a teammate will be a very different emotion, I'm sure there will be players in Arne Slot's dressing room now who will have extra motivation when the new season starts. Photo: Andrew Powell/Getty Those who were especially close to Diogo will want to try to win more trophies this season and dedicating them to his memory would be the perfect tribute. It's so sad to think that a few short weeks ago, Diogo was on the pitch at Anfield getting a huge cheer as his name was read out and he was handed his well-earned Premier League title winner's medal. He scored the first goal of the Slot era at Liverpool when he broke the deadlock on the opening day of the season at Ipswich and what proved to be his last goal for the club was vital, as he grabbed the winner against Everton at Anfield in April. That was a massive night for Liverpool as they had just been knocked out of the Champions League and then lost the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle, so another slip against Everton would have had everyone questioning whether Slot's side were going to blow a big lead in the title race. Jota's goal brought one of the biggest roars of the season at Anfield and he will never be forgotten by Liverpool fans who are always so good at celebrating their heroes. Life and football need to move on when moments like this happen, but there will be extra motivation for Liverpool's players to win league title number 21, and maybe even Champions League title number seven, as the ultimate tribute to a fine young man who was taken away far too soon. Arne Slot may have won the Premier League title in his first season at Liverpool, but it feels like his team will be taking to the field for the first time when the new season gets underway next month. I'm sure Slot knew he wasn't getting a lot of money to spend on new players last summer, but Jurgen Klopp handed him a strong squad and he did so well to win the title by making just a few minor adjustments. The Liverpool boss used the tools he was handed by Klopp and guided those players to a convincing Premier League title triumph, but this needed to be a summer to invest in new faces and they have done that big time. Liverpool have splashed the cash in a manner we probably didn't expect from the club's current owners over the last few weeks, with the deal to sign Florian Wirtz for over £100m from Bayer Leverkusen a real statement of intent. Hugo Ekitike is another big-money signing, with players arriving in all areas of the team. Others have made their exits. I expect more changes over the next few weeks, which may mean a period of transition for this team. Slot will need time to find the best position for Wirtz and Ekitike and patience may be needed as the manager reshapes a team he hopes will be successful over the next two or three years. They came up short in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain last season and need that extra spark to challenge in Europe, while the competition in the Premier League will be much tougher this season. The signings they have made should help to take Liverpool to the next level, but they may need a few weeks to click into gear after a summer of evolution.

A new video posted to Instagram shot from the stage behind the famous band and looking out to the crowd, showed thousands of people jumping up and down as the band kicked off one of their most popular songs. The stadium moved as one as Noel played guitar and front man Liam urged the crowd on by waving his arms up in the air. The video was shared to the official Oasis Instagram account where fans flooded with positive comments.
