Chiefs news: Two-year extension given, starlet pushes for exit
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly offered veteran midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa a two-year extension, keeping him at the club until 2028.
'The club has already taken the initiative to keep the midfielder for two more years,' a source said. 'The talks are believed to have started before the end of the season. But apparently things are looking good. It will all now depend on what both parties are looking at. But the talks are open.'
Another source reaffirmed Chiefs' desire, saying, 'Yes, he didn't start well under coach Nasreddine Nabi. We think he didn't understand him. But now they [Kaizer Chiefs] are happy with him and that's why they are offering him a two-year deal.'
'If all goes well and they agree on new terms it will start from next year until June 2028.'
Remaining in Chiefs' midfielding department, youngster Samkelo Zwane, who struggled for minutes last season amassing just thirteen appearances, is being linked with a loan move for the next campaign in a bid to play regular first team football.
Zwane's agents are said to be holding talks with Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi over the 23-year-old's future, however, an inside source has disputed this, saying, 'I don't know about any AmaZulu interest but the boy needs game time. The way I see it right now is that he is going nowhere, as things stand,' a source close to the player told this publication.
