The "Longest Day of Play" social media-led campaign aims to celebrate the extended daylight hours of the summer solstice. Project Sunshine will bring together various partners, volunteers, celebrities, and influencers to promote the nonprofit's mission across social media for 15 hours, mirroring the day's sunlight duration. Project Sunshine is dedicated to addressing the psychosocial and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, play is one of the most effective methods of reducing stress in children, allowing both their minds and bodies to heal. With over 18,000 trained volunteers, the organization brings evidence-based play programming to more than 250,000 children in 175 cities across the US and internationally.
Project Sunshine's volunteer-led programs offer opportunities for play, creative expression, and socialization, ensuring childhood remains a place of wonder. These programs are tailored to each patient, family, and community to encourage agency and positive change.
Creators Stephanie Niemis (@healthyholme), Emily Schenck (@whimsical_emily), Peter Mutabazi (@fosterdadflipper), and others are teaming up with Project Sunshine to help raise awareness for this important moment. Anti-Jeff Bezos protesters in Venice vow drastic action to disrupt $7m wedding, make guests ‘choke on their wedding cake'

Anti-Jeff Bezos protesters out to disrupt his Venice wedding to Lauren Sanchez have threatened to make them 'choke on their wedding cake'. Local protesters have branded the Amazon founder and his helicopter pilot fiancée as 'oligarchs' and said they will take whatever action necessary to spoil the fairytale $7m wedding, which the locals mayor's office said will be held on Bezos' $500 million superyacht Koru, set to be anchored just outside the floating city. 'We'll throw ourselves into the canal if we have to, we'll make sure they choke on their wedding cake,' activists leading the protests said, according to the Italian edition of Vanity Fair magazine. Groups protesting against Bezos — the third richest man in the world with a net worth of $226 billion — have also threatened to blockade the major waterways into the city, effectively cutting off supplies. Advertisement If that happens, as well as causing problems for the wedding organization, it would immediately cause prices to spike for anyone within Venice city limits, one of Europe's top tourist destinations, during high season. 'If they block the canal we wouldn't receive our goods. They would definitely block the Grand Canal, which is what transporters use to deliver goods in the morning. 'They start from Tronchetto and then arrive at Rialto [bridge in the center of the city], so it would create quite a lot of issues. The goods wouldn't arrive,' a representative for the Despar supermarket in Venice told The Post. 8 A huge banner hoisted onto St Marks' bell tower in Venice, one of the most recognizable landmarks of the city, protesting Bezos' wedding. A number of yacht berths have been reserved for six days for the wedding – expected to take place between June 24 and 26 – including at Marittima, San Basilio, Zattere, Punta della Dogana, and Riva dei Sette Martiri, twice the number locals were told would be allocated by authorities. The No Space for Bezos campaign – using a play on words related to the billionaire's Blue Origin space exploration company – have also unfurled banners and distributed stickers throughout the city. The Venice protests come against a backdrop of locals taking action against what they call over-tourism across southern Europe. Meanwhile, staff at Paris' Louvre art gallery, the most visited museum in the world, went on strike yesterday, saying it allows too many visitors in. Advertisement Around a thousand residents of Barcelona protested last Sunday by marching through a popular tourist area and spraying water pistols while slapping stickers reading 'Tourist Go Home!' on businesses and lamp posts. Other protests have taken place in Genoa in Italy, Portuguese capital Lisbon and the Spanish island of Majorca. Residents say they are being priced out of their towns by the influx of tourists from around the world and the hotels and other infrastructure built to accommodate them.

Sabrina Carpenter Criticized For Using "Ableist" Term

I'm sure we're all aware by now that Sabrina Carpenter just released a brand-new song, "Manchild." It's taken the world by storm. The song, which came out on June 5, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. And a few days after the song came out, she announced her new album, Man's Best Friend, is coming out August 29. Yep, Sabrina is TOTALLY BACK. Well, since then, she's gotten a bit of heat from the internet — for one, because the Man's Best Friend album cover depicts her kneeling on the floor (like a dog) while someone standing up (supposedly a man) pulls her hair. One tweet with almost 50K likes reads: "women face horrific domestic abuse and degradation at the hands of men every single day worldwide, but she wants to profit off of imagery of herself being degraded, comparing herself to a dog. pandering to men will never be feminist." Other people are coming to her defense, though, pointing out that it's likely a satire or commentary on women's treatment. But that's not the only thing Sabrina is getting backlash for; people are also upset about this one lyric in "Manchild." So let's talk about it. In the song, she ends off the first verse by singing: "It's all just so familiar, baby, what do you call it?" and then answers her own question with: "Stupid / Or is it slow? / Maybe it's useless? / But there's a cuter word for it. I know," and proceeds to sing the word "manchild" in the chorus. Now, people on TikTok and X have been calling out her usage of the word "slow" in the song. Some are referring to the word as a slur, and others are pointing out that even if it's not directly a slur, it's "still used as a replacement for the r-slur sometimes." Context here: in her song "Busy Woman," Sabrina sings, "If you don't want me, I'll just deem you gay." Buuuut on the other hand, there are a ton of people coming to Sabrina's defense. They're saying that there are much more derogatory songs (and terms) we should be calling out instead, and that it's just a fun, lighthearted lyric. Anyway, the internet is, as per usual, totally divided on this. And the whole discussion is veryyy interesting. So tell me: Does Sabrina's usage of "slow" in "Manchild" rub you the wrong way? Or do you think the internet is once again being a bit too hard on her, and we should just enjoy the fun song? Let's chat in the comments below. Meghan Markle says she ‘would ask people to tell the truth' in new podcast episode

(NewsNation) — Meghan has revealed how she would rewrite her public narrative if given the chance on the latest episode of Emma Grede's podcast. The 43-year-old appeared in Tuesday's episode of 'Aspire with Emma Grede.' In the 90-minute episode, Grede asked Meghan about the public's perception of her and what she would change if she had the chance. 'I would ask people to tell the truth,' Meghan revealed. 'A lie can't live forever. Eight years is a long time, but it's not forever.' Meghan was in the spotlight before she started dating Prince Harry in 2016 as one of the lead actresses on USA Network's Suits. Markle married Harry in 2018 and performed her royal duties until the couple stepped back in 2020 and moved to the United States. Since they stepped back, both Harry and Meghan have talked about the mistreatment they received while doing their royal duties and how the palace didn't protect them. In 2021, the couple shared their story in a CBS interview. They also revealed a lot more in their 2022 docuseries 'Harry & Meghan' on Netflix. Meghan also spoke with Grede about a video she recently posted on Instagram that has gone viral. The 'baby mama dance' video was a throwback that she posted for her daughter, Princess Lilibet's, birthday. Grede told Meghan that she did a 'little secret cheer' when she saw the video that Meghan had filmed in the delivery room before Lilibet was born. Meghan explained that the clip 'was four years ago.' She also told Grede, 'So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that's happening behind the scenes.' She also said, 'I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.' Meghan rejoined Instagram back in January after years of being off social media completely. 'I'm just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms,' she added, referring to her personal social media handle. On the podcast, Meghan said she and Harry have been working with Netflix for five years. Netflix also fully produced Meghan's 'As Ever' product line. Her show, 'With Love, Meghan,' had dropped off the streaming service's top ten list in less than a week. Netflix also fully produced Meghan's 'As Ever' product line. NewsNation's Paula Froelich reported that Meghan's Netflix show will still be given a third season, regardless of viewership, because the streaming giant is invested in making her products and show a success. Froelich heard that many people are 'done' with the Sussex family at Netflix, but the third season will be used to see if commerce and entertainment can be combined for profit.
