Jane's Addiction members sue Perry Farrell for $10m
Perry Farrell is being sued for $10 million by his Jane's Addiction bandmates over the on-stage bust-up which derailed their tour. The Just Because hitmakers - which also includes guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery - reunited for a tour and their first new song in 24 years, Imminent Redemption, last year but things went sour in September when Perry punched Dave in the face during a gig in Boston, prompting the rest of their planned shows to be cancelled - and now the trio are suing the singer over the "brutal and unprovoked" attack. Court documents seen by - which were filed at Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday (16.07.25) - state: "Plaintiffs Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins were forced to bring this action after Defendant Peretz Bernstein p/k/a Perry Farrell ruthlessly assaulted Navarro onstage, mid-show, during the Jane's Addiction 33-date North American reunion tour. "As if the pain and humiliation of the onstage attack were not enough, Farrell continued his unhinged barrage of punches backstage (collectively, the 'Attack'). "The Attack, which was virally viewed by millions of people worldwide, was brutal and unprovoked. It quickly forced the termination of the show and eventually the entire Tour." Navarro's attorney, Christopher Frost, added in a statement to the publication: "Ultimately, with the attack on Dave Navarro seen around the world, Perry Farrell abruptly and unilaterally ended all the plans for a Jane's Addiction revival. "He also left his bandmates holding the bag for an unfulfilled tour and record deal, as our lawsuit explains in detail. Dave, Eric, and Stephen never wanted it to come to this. "But they have been wronged, want the accurate story told, and they deserve a resolution." However, a lawyer representing Farrell said: :"This is yet another clear example of the group uniting to isolate and bully frontman Perry Farrell. The timing of this baseless lawsuit is no coincidence - it was filed only after they caught wind of legal action coming from our side. "It's a transparent attempt to control the narrative and present themselves as the so-called 'good guys' - a move that's both typical and predictable. "Just like when they released a defamatory and entirely unfounded statement about Perry's mental health and unilaterally canceled the remaining tour dates without his input, they're once again scrambling to get ahead of the truth in a desperate effort to save face." Shortly after the musicians filed the lawsuit against Farrell, the singer filed his own legal complaint, accusing them of bullying and harassment in an attempt to undermine him. In the legal papers, seen by Variety, Farrell insists the altercation was provoked and he was no consulted about the decision to cancel the tour. The documents state: "That Jane's Addiction's bandmates have sometimes been antagonistic towards each other has been well-documented. But Navarro, Avery and Perkins apparently decided that Jane's Addiction's decades of success should be jettisoned in pursuit of a years-long bullying campaign against Farrell involving harassing him onstage during performances, including, among other tactics, trying to undermine him by playing their instruments at a high volume so that he could not hear himself sing without blasting his own in-ear monitors at an unsafe level." The papers added: "Without warning or consultation and using Perry Farrell, as a scapegoat, Navarro and the other band members took it upon themselves to abruptly cancel the remaining tour dates - violating contracts and disregarding all professional obligations - and apparently break up the band for good.'

LR share spoils with Maine Road side
Atherton LR bounced back their weekend pre-season loss with a second-half comeback to take a 2-2 draw away from their home game against Maine Road on Tuesday night. Ahead of the game, LR announced the trialist goalkeeper who featured in the Bury and Barnton game, former Shakers Under-23s player Sam Jones, had now joined the club. The hosts started well against the Division One North side, although high pressing from the Maine Road forwards gave a sign of things to come LR struck first as on 25 minutes when Cal Hunter received a lofted ball from George Chadwick and made a quick turn to angle his body and bury the ball past the keeper's near post. Yellows defender Abiola Obasoto enjoyed a good game, not only defending well but making forward runs down the flanks and supplying chances. However, Maine Road would soon level as a passing triangle at the edge of the box was laid off to Sam Wrigley who with space, turned and curled a well-taken shot past Jones on 34 minutes. And only four minutes later the visitors were ahead when some poor man-marking by LR allowed James Horan to take a wild shot which bounced over Jones' head to put the Sky Blues in front. LR started more lively after the interval with the early introduction of Joe Bacon, Tom Lawless and Kieran Alley working well together on the flanks. Lawless faced a few chances supplied by Lenehan and Alley but all were agonisingly wide. That was until Alley made a brilliant run down the right and lifted a picture-perfect cross to Lawless whose header hit the back of the net 12 minutes from time to earn a share of the spoils. LR boss Dave Jones said: 'I saw the goals from the first-half and it's us not turning the ball over, not getting in the right positions and the transition not being good enough - so those are things we need to continue to work on.' LR will travel to Darwen on Saturday for their penultimate friendly (2pm).

California State Fair exhibit gives out cannabis seeds for a penny
Getting freebies is a California State Fair tradition, but this year, there's a new type of sample sparking up interest. Adults entering the California Cannabis Experience exhibit can now get a packet of pot seeds to take home and start their own grow. "We've already given away thousands of seeds," said Embarc co-founder Dustin Moore. "Under California law, we have to sell them for a penny to be compliant." Organizers hope many people will turn this into a budding backyard hobby. "It's important, as we normalize cannabis in a responsible way, to encourage folks to grow at home," Moore said. "We would love nothing more than to have as many people as possible popping these seeds in their backyard and getting some experience with this beautiful plant," said Scott Vasterling, founder of Humboldt Family Farms. Experts say it doesn't take much effort to grow your own ganja. "It's a weed, literally. That's why they call it weed, so growing cannabis is about as simple as keeping a weed alive in your backyard. Sun, water, and fertilizer, and a little bit of love. That's all it takes," Moore said. Cannabis cultivation is still illegal under federal law, but in California, up to six plants are permitted for personal use, although some places don't allow them to be grown outdoors. The state fair already presents Golden Bear awards for California's best cannabis, and people picking up seeds this year could be next year's winners in a new category for home growers. "We'll have the same opportunity to grow their cannabis at home and compete alongside the best farmers in the state of California," Moore said. Organizers expect to hand out 15,000 seeds at the fair this year, which come from the Humboldt Seed Company in Northern California.
