Now's the time to get a Meta Quest 3S as it drops to lowest ever price for Prime Day

Independent08-07-2025
Premium VR headsets often carry eye-watering price tags, but that's not the case with Meta models. Following the success of the impressive Meta Quest 3, the company launched the Meta Quest 3S, an even more affordable mixed-reality device offering similar performance.
Designed to bring full-colour passthrough experiences to the masses, the Meta Quest 3S makes some smart compromises to hit a sub-£300 price point while retaining the powerful performance of its pricier sibling.
Already great value at its launch price of £289, a rare Prime Day discount has made the headset an even more tempting proposition for anyone curious about VR.
The Meta Quest 3S is the perfect entry point into the world of virtual and mixed reality, and this Prime Day deal makes it even more appealing. The Meta Quest 3S runs on the same powerful Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor as the more expensive Meta Quest 3, so games and experiences look and feel incredibly smooth. You also get the new, more comfortable touch plus controllers and full-colour passthrough, which allows you to see your real-world surroundings blended with digital elements.
To keep the cost down, it uses the previous generation's lenses, so the graphics aren't quite as sharp as the Meta Quest 3's. However, as our tech critic Alex Lee noted in his Meta Quest 3 review, 'if you're new to VR (or mixed reality), then the Quest 3S is the best entry-level device you'll find.'
Alex's tests found that 'It runs like a dream, has a full-colour passthrough and has a wealth of VR games and mixed-reality experiences to explore.' For gaming and getting a taste of immersive virtual tech, it's an unbeatable headset at this price.

New Jaecoo E5 is a Range Rover lookalike with a very attractive price

Meet the new Jaecoo E5: the latest compact electric SUV to arrive on our shores, and the first EV from China's much more affordable alternative to Land Rover. As such, prices start from £27,505, significantly undercutting rivals like the Ford Puma Gen-E and Kia EV3. The E5 is powered by a 61.1kWh battery and 204bhp front-mounted electric motor, which deliver an official range of up to 248 miles – more than the Ford, which is good for 233 miles at most from a single charge; meanwhile, the 0-62mph sprint should take 7.7 seconds. The Jaecoo's 80kW maximum charging speed is behind the curve, but still sufficient for a 30 to 80 per cent top-up in 27 minutes. If you're after a rugged-looking petrol-powered SUV, the larger Jaecoo 7 (a rival for the MINI Countryman and BMW X1) is available through the Auto Express Find a Car service from £30,115 or just over £250 per month thanks to our latest lease deals. Advertisement - Article continues below Even though the E5 is an electric 'urban‑friendly SUV', Jaecoo claims it's up to venturing off the beaten track; its approach angle of 20 degrees and departure angle of 30 degrees are nearly identical to the Jeep Avenger's. Plus every model features a 540‑degree panoramic camera system. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below Vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capability means owners can use the car's large battery to power a laptop or camping equipment. Plus there's a 'Pet Mode', like in Teslas and the new Kia EV5, which keeps the cabin cool and secure if you have to quickly pop into a shop or are perhaps setting up tents. Inside, all Jaecoo E5s feature a 12.3-inch portrait touchscreen, which will be used to control almost every function because there are hardly any buttons. But there supposedly more than 35 storage spaces dotted around the cabin, plus a 480‑litre boot that expands to 1,180 litres when the rear seats are folded down. The E5 is available in two trim levels: Pure and Luxury. Standard kit includes the big touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a six-speaker Sony stereo, six-way manually adjustable front seats, a suite of 19 driver-assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, and a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty. Upgrading to Luxury spec brings the price up to £30,505, and adds a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and an eight-speaker Sony sound system. I swear by this £12 Bluetooth tracker on Amazon – it's the best budget swap for an Apple AirTag

THIS budget Bluetooth tracker is a hidden gem on Amazon, and right now, it's a steal. You can pick up the Groov-e My Tag for just £12.70, down from £17.99, and I can honestly say, it's worth every penny. 1 Groov-e My Tag Bluetooth Tracker, £17.99 £12.70 on Amazon I've tested some of the big-name trackers, and far too many are overpriced or overcomplicated. But the Groov-e My Tag is the budget hero in my best Bluetooth trackers roundup, and at this price, it's worth snapping up one (or two). Even at full price, it's one of the cheapest Apple Find My-compatible trackers you can get, with zero faff from third-party apps. Now, with a 29% discount, you're getting premium Apple-style tracking on a shoestring budget. Pairing it with my iPhone was painless; it popped up instantly, just like an AirTag. That accuracy gave me the same confidence I get from Apple's own kit, but just note, this isn't compatible with Android tech. Groov-e nails the essentials; just ping it to play a sound when your keys are hiding or check the last location. Or even get turn-by-turn directions to your missing item in the Find My app. The replaceable CR2032 coin cell should last up to a year, so you're not binning the whole thing every time the battery dies. You can use it for everything from tracking your suitcase to preventing your kid's PE kit from going AWOL. It's a bit of a hidden gem, too, with only a handful of reviews so far, but it's still earned a decent 3.6-star rating. One shopper called it a 'good alternative to an Apple AirTag,' adding: 'It works exactly the same as an AirTag, same app, same battery, same procedure, same loudness. 'The plus points of this are that it is much cheaper and comes with a case, and has a hole already in it to fit keys,' they added. Another said: 'Works just like the Apple AirTag, its slightly larger size isn't a problem and fits inside my bike frame without issues… at nearly half the price of an AirTag, what's not to like.' The only gripe I share with them is that it's a touch chunkier than some rivals. But it's still light, sits neatly on a keyring or bag, and the rubberised finish makes it feel like it could survive just about anything. If you want a no-nonsense tracker that works just as well as the big brands without the big price tag, the Groov-e My Tag is it. .
