Coolie Ending Explained: Aamir Khan's Surprise Cameo And Its Connection To LCU
Rajinikanth's Coolie ending reveals Aamir Khan as Daaha, leaving fans questioning its link to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. Rajinikanth's much-awaited Coolie hit theatres on Thursday, just in time for the Independence Day weekend. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film boasts a powerhouse ensemble featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and a surprise debut from Aamir Khan in Tamil cinema. The Bollywood superstar's cameo as Daaha in the climax has sparked a flurry of fan theories, especially around whether the film ties into the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Aamir Khan's Cameo As Daaha In Coolie's Ending The story follows Deva (Rajinikanth), who infiltrates the empire of Simon (Nagarjuna) to avenge the death of his friend Rajashekhar (Sathyaraj). As the narrative unfolds, it is revealed that Simon is merely a pawn in a larger global syndicate headed by the mysterious Daaha. In the climax, Aamir Khan makes a dramatic entry as Daaha, accompanied by Mahesh Manjrekar as his father, Kaakar. Their history ties back to a massacre 35 years prior, deeply entwined with Deva and Simon's past. Surprisingly, Daaha spares Deva after witnessing Simon's downfall, while Kaakar agrees to leave Deva's coolies unharmed. Daaha even extends an invitation to Deva to join forces with him, though Deva remains elusive in his response. The reveal has left audiences intrigued, particularly since this marks Aamir's first Tamil film appearance, adding a fresh layer of star power to Coolie. Is Coolie A Part Of The Lokesh Cinematic Universe? Fans had high expectations that Coolie would tie into Lokesh Kanagaraj's interconnected universe that includes Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. Each of these films has featured post-credit teasers or character overlaps that expanded the LCU mythology. However, unlike Leo's direct link to Vikram via Kamal Haasan's voice cameo, Coolie stands as a standalone film. Lokesh had clarified during promotions that Coolie was not part of the LCU, and indeed, there is no post-credits sequence hinting otherwise. Additionally, Aamir's Daaha has no connection to Rolex (played by Suriya), the notorious villain of the LCU. That said, Coolie is already smashing box office records. With advance bookings crossing Rs 100 crore, the Rajinikanth-starrer is on track to challenge Leo for one of the biggest openings in Tamil cinema history. Featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan in pivotal roles, the film blends star power with Lokesh's trademark mass action. Whether or not it belongs to the LCU, Coolie has carved its own unique space. First Published: August 14, 2025, 21:43 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Mrunal Thakur Apologises For Body-Shaming Bipasha Basu: '19-Year-Old Me Said Many Silly Things'
Last Updated: In a resurfaced video, Mrunal Thakur called Bipasha Basu "manly with muscles". Days after an old video of Mrunal Thakur, in which she was seen body-shaming Bipasha Basu, re-surfaced on social media, the actress has now issued an apology. On Thursday, Mrunal took to her Instagram stories and admitted that her comments regarding the Raaz actress were 'silly". However, Mrunal also clarified that her intention was not to hurt anyone. '19-year-old me as a teenager said many silly things. I didn't always understand the weight of my voice or how much words, even in jest, could hurt. But it did and for that I am deeply sorry. My intent was never to body-shame anyone. It was playful banter in an interview that went too far. But I understand how it came across, and I truly wish I had chosen my words differently," Mrunal wrote. What Had Mrunal Thakur Said About Bipasha Basu? In a resurfaced video, Mrunal Thakur and her co-star Arjit Taneja were seen giving an interview during their Kumkum Bhagya days. At one point, Arjit playfully dared her to do a headstand, to which she jokingly replied that he could sit while she balanced on her head. Arjit then challenged her again to do push-ups. This prompted Mrunal to quip that he might be interested in marrying a strong, muscular woman. Arjit agreed that he wanted to have a physically toned woman in his life. This led Mrunal to remark that he could choose Bipasha Basu. Mrunal Thakur said, 'Do you want to marry a girl who is manly with muscles? Go marry Bipasha." She added, 'Listen, I am far better than Bipasha, okay?" Bipasha Basu Reacts To Mrunal Thakur's Comments Soon after Mrunal Thakur's video resurfaced on social media, Bipasha Basu seemingly reacted to it. She took to her Instagram Stories and encouraged women to develop strong muscles, which will not only aid their physical health but also improve their mental health. Without naming Mrunal, Bipasha Basu's note read, 'Strong women lift each other up. Get those muscles beautiful ladies… we should be strong… muscles help you attain good physical and mental health forever! Bust the age old thought process that women should not look strong or be physically strong!" First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Abhishek Bachchan Has THIS Wish As Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan's Sholay Marks 50 Years
Sholay revolved around two ex-convicts, Jai and Veeru, who are hired by Thakur Baldev Singh, a retired policeman, to help nab a notorious dacoit named Gabbar Singh. As 'Sholay', the biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema, celebrates its Golden Jubilee, Abhishek Bachchan shared with IANS that he wishes to watch the iconic film on a 70 mm screen at the iconic Minerva theatre. The film features his father Amitabh Bachchan and mother Jaya Bachchan in the lead. When asked during an interview, 'Sholay will soon be completing 50 years. Have there been any conversations at the family dining table about the film? If so, which story or memory from Sholay tends to come up most often?" Abhishek replied 'Not really spoken about it but have discussed it with friends. My biggest tragedy is that I have never seen Sholay on 70 mm." He continued, 'I keep telling my friend Rohan (Rohan Sippy)—we've done three films together, and our fathers made 'Sholay' together—Please remaster it and we will go and watch it in Minerva. I really hope they re-release it so that we can experience it again in all its glory." Adding to it, he informed, 'Sholay was the first film to release an audio cassette featuring just its dialogues. The lines became so iconic that they put out a separate audio release for them." 'Sholay', the most iconic film of Hindi cinema, was released on August 15, 1975. Although it initially received a lukewarm response at the box office, it gradually gained momentum through word of mouth. The film is considered as one of the greatest movies in Hindi cinema for its grandeur, performances, technical brilliance, action, music and direction. It was top of the British Film Institute's 2002 poll of 'Top 10 Indian Films" of all time. The film was written by the legendary screenwriting duo Salim-Javed, and went on to become one of longest running films of Indian cinema. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
