AS a dedicated skincare enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for that perfect balance where effectiveness meets affordability.
For what feels like an age, the beauty world has been abuzz with endless praise for the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, a product often dubbed a 'spa-worthy' luxury cleanser.

HABI Moisture Melt Cleansing Balm has been compared to being a good alternative to the Elemis cleansing balm

And, I won't deny it - it truly is a delight to use.
The experience of the Elemis balm is truly an undeniable one.
It begins as a rich, solid balm, melting seamlessly into a sumptuous oil as it warms on the skin, before finally evolving into a delicate, hydrating milk upon contact with water.
And there's no denying that it dissolves every trace of makeup, daily grime and impurities.
It certainly leaves my skin feeling soft, nourished, and pampered.
The formula itself is a boasts exceptional ingredients such as Elderberry and Padina Pavonica, complemented by a meticulously crafted essential oil blend that elevates the cleansing process into a truly indulgent evening ritual.
However, with a price tag of £49.00, from Boots for a modest 100g jar, it's undeniably a splurge - one that, for many, myself included, simply isn't sustainable for day-to-day use.
This led me to a recent discovery that has completely shifted my perspective and won my heart: the Boots HABI Moisture Melt Cleansing Balm.
Beauty fans have taken to internet to praise it for being a "dupe" to the Elemis product, and a "great alternative."
'Keeps skin super glowy' beauty buffs rave about new Primark face cream that's £5 dupe for viral £195 'magic cream'
At an astonishing £7.50 for a generous 100g pot, the HABI Moisture Melt Cleansing Balm offers everything I desire in a cleansing balm, without the hefty price tag.
And like the Elemis cleansing balm, it's nothing short of a revelation.
Even the design of the pot is something else.
You can twist the lid for it to come out bit by bit, or use the provide spoon to scoop it out onto your hands.
From the moment I scoop out a small amount, I'm greeted with a smooth, gel-like balm that feels wonderfully indulgent.
As I dot it onto my dry face and gently massage it in, the texture transforms beautifully.
I've come to realise that these extras, while lovely, aren't strictly necessary for achieving a great cleanse
Yasmin Harisha
Under the warmth of my fingertips, it melts into a silky, lightweight oil that glides effortlessly across the skin.
This transformation is key - the oil works its magic, dissolving even the most stubborn waterproof mascara and lifting away the day's build-up of dirt and pollutants.
Like the Elemis product it turns into a milky texture after water is applied to it.
Once I felt I had immulsified it enough on my face, I grabbed a soaked flannel and wipe it off.
After rinsing, my skin feels immaculately clean, soft, and comfortably refreshed, with no tightness, greasiness, or unpleasant residue.
It delivers a thorough and satisfying cleanse every time - exactly what I look for in a cleansing balm.

While the Elemis balm does offer a more aromatic experience and a slightly more intricate texture transition, I've come to realise that these extras, while lovely, aren't strictly necessary for achieving a great cleanse.
Especially when the price difference is so stark.
The HABI balm proves, without question, that you don't need to spend a small fortune to achieve beautifully clean, happy skin.
It's straightforward, exceptionally effective, and wonderfully affordable, making it a true unsung hero of skincare - perfect for daily use.
For me, the Boots HABI Moisture Melt Cleansing Balm is the undisputed winner.
It excels in its primary purpose - cleansing - and does so at a price point that's accessible to all.
Why spend nearly seven times more for a few extra essential oils when HABI delivers impeccable results for just £7.50?
It's now my absolute go-to cleansing balm, and I genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough.
If you're searching for a budget-friendly skincare gem that doesn't compromise on performance, HABI is the answer.

Aldi is selling £14.99 tool that banishes creases & transforms your clothes in seconds – plus is half of Philips' price
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THERE'S a new laundry lifesaver in town that's perfect for keeping your clothes crease-free on the go - and it's half the price of Philips' version. The Ambiano Handheld Garment Steamer from Aldi gets to work in seconds and tackles everything from curtains to shirts. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Aldi is selling a handheld steamer for just £14.99 as part of its Specialbuys offering Credit: Aldi The compact gadget is just £14.99 from the bargain retailer and heats up in just 35 seconds, delivering continuous steam to refresh your threads. It comes with a removable 250ml water tank, a 1.9m power cord, and includes two handy attachments – a brush and a measuring cup – for added versatility. And here's where it gets steamy for the competition. Aldi's version is less than half the price of the Philips Handheld Garment Steamer 3000 Series, which retails at £34.99 on Amazon. While the Philips model is foldable and slightly lighter, Aldi's option delivers a powerful punch for its price tag – especially for those not fussed about packing light. The Ambiano steamer is part of Aldi's Specialbuys range, which means once it's gone, it's gone – and at this price, it won't hang around for long. So if your iron's on its last legs or you're just after a quicker way to freshen up your wardrobe, this pocket-friendly powerhouse might be worth snapping up. Elsewhere in Aldi's Specialbuys is a jaw-dropping batch of dupes - and leading the way is the £14.99 NutriBullet dupe. The Ambiano High Speed Blending Set, which comes fully loaded with 11 pieces and costs a whopping £55 less than the branded version. Kitchen getting a glow-up? Aldi's got you. The Crofton Everyways Pan, priced at just £19.99, is being hailed as a Le Creuset lookalike for a tenth of the price. Wake up to a weed-free lawn for months thanks to Aldi's £10 gadget that pulls them out without bending or kneeling down It's oven safe, made with recycled aluminium, and honestly... it looks the part. Meanwhile, beauty fans are buzzing over the return of Lacura's mascara for £5.99, a near-perfect dupe of Benefit's bestseller. And if that wasn't enough, Aldi's Lacura Setting Spray (£4.49) and Marine Oil (£3.99) are drawing comparisons to Charlotte Tilbury and Elemis – but for a fraction of the cost. Setting customers back just £3.99, the Lacura Marine Oil is a dupe of Elemis' pro-collagen marine oil, which is currently on sale for a whopping £72. The luxury oil aims to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with marine ingredients. And Aldi's version aims to do the same by using algae extract and golden seaweed. It's not the only dupe from the line. The supermarket is also launching a marine mask, £6.99, and a marine moisturising essence, which are again very similar to pricier Elemis products. On the DIY front, Aldi's come out swinging with a cordless multifunction tool for £25, slashing the price of similar Bosch models by over £60. Kids aren't left out either – there's a Plush Bluey Chair (£24.99) and Squishmallow Pokémon plush toys (£12.99) flying off shelves faster than you can say "limited stock". 2 Philips 3000 Series Handheld Steamer is £34.99 on Amazon Credit: Amazon When's the best time to shop at Aldi? WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy. For reduced items - when shops open Red sticker items are rare at Aldi's 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found - if you're quick. A spokesman for the supermarket said: "All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates." That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens. Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store's times by using the supermarket's online shop finder tool. For Specialbuys - Thursdays and Sundays Specialbuys are Aldi's weekly collection of items that it doesn't normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools. New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals. For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store's opening time. Remember: once they're gone, they're gone, so if there's something you really want, visit as early as possible

Sali Hughes on beauty: get your feet sandal-ready with a summer makeover
My feet have been in sandals for weeks and were ready to strip by April. I maintain them by filing and moisturising all winter, but a salon appointment is justifiable, especially if you have been inattentive. The Guardian's journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. Ask your pedicurist to use an e-file (a fine rotating electrical file) on rough heels, dry and jagged cuticles, and calloused toes. I always do this: the increase in smoothness is significant and can be maintained with DIY filing between appointments. For these intervals, I use the very effective Boots Hard Skin Remover (£3.59) with regular soap in my weekly bath, and Glowxie's Glass Foot File (£16.95; I like its palm-sized design, but any will do) for one session of dry filing between soaks. I never bother with at-home electrical devices. They're nowhere near as effective as either an e-file or a manual file, and are a complete waste of cash and plastic. I trim any dried, rough outer cuticles on either side of my toes (never on the nail bed itself) with Tweezerman Rockhard Cuticle Nipper (£30), and follow with whichever oil is handy – cuticle oil, or even something like kitchen cupboard avocado oil works perfectly. In summer, I still can't get behind pastels in my wardrobe or on my extremities. There's something too bridal and conservative about lilac, beige and mauve, at least for my taste and colouring (pale nails make my digits look like rolled mortadella). Sarah Jessica Parker shares my love of bold lacquer in hot weather. She's been wearing black, burgundy and dark emerald green on her fingers and toes throughout summer 2025, and has looked sensational. Personally, I've opted for navy, blood red and sludgy green, rarely matching hands and feet. Truly, I've never received as many compliments on my nail colour as I did when wearing Bio Sculpture's Thornbird (£15.50), a deep Barbour jacket khaki available in traditional and gel formats. I became so attached to my GI Joe fingers and their fanbase that I went into my next pedicure appointment a month later and got the exact same shade on my toes. To keep everything feeling soft and looking smooth in sandals, flip-flops and Birks, I sleep a few times a week in gel heel socks (£6.99 for three pairs from Amazon). No other product offers such long-lasting efficacy for the price. Apply a little body cream before bed, pull on the socks, and wake to marshmallow-soft feet. Just quell any coital ambitions during treatment.

‘This clear fake tan lasts a week and has people asking if I've been on holiday'
Beauty editor Laura Mulley recently tried out this clear dark tanning water and couldn't believe how long it lasted – and the compliments she received on her golden glow In summer, I rely on fake tan when wearing shorts, dresses and T-shirts to give my naturally pale skin some healthy colour. I've got my favourites – Isle Of Paradise Glow Clear Self Tanning Mousse Medium being one – but I'm always keen to try new ones. I'm particularly drawn to finding the best clear fake tans that won't ruin my bedsheets – and here's one that I was super impressed with, and got me lots of compliments. The night before attending a recent Oasis gig I applied Bare by Vogue Clear Tan Water Dark, currently down from £23 to £16.10 at Boots, from the tanning brand founded by TV personality Vogue Williams. A clear water that comes out as a foam, it feels velvety to apply, goes on smoothly and evenly, and dries quickly – and yes, unless it's a particularly hot and sticky night, doesn't come off onto your bedding. Although naturally very pale myself, I braved using the dark shade of tan as I'd tested the medium before and didn't think the colour was strong enough. And actually, when I woke up the next morning, it still wasn't as dark as I expected it to be – in fact, I wondered if anyone would even notice a difference. However, maybe I was imagining it but I felt like the tan continued to develop slightly throughout the day, even after showering, and come mid-afternoon when it was time to get ready for the event, I felt confident wearing my chosen outfit of white shorts and vintage T-shirt. And when I met up with friends, I received compliments on my colour straight away: "You look glowing!" one said. "Have you just come back from holiday?" It wasn't just this response that I was thrilled with, but also how well this tan lasted. Normally I get about three days of good colour before my tan starts to disappear or turn streaky, but this Bare by Vogue formula still looked good on my limbs a week later, and even pushed 10 days. Definitely one to try if you want long-lasting results. My one negative is that it might not be dark enough for those after a very deep colour (I'd say if was more in line with my other 'medium' tans). If you want something ultra-dark, you might want to go for Filter by Molly-Mae Extra Dark Tanning Mousse, £22, or Cocoa Brown 1 HOUR TAN Self Tan Mousse in Extra Dark, currently £6.66. And for when it's time to remove any old remnants of your self tan before applying a fresh layer, our shopping writer Meghan has been really impressed by how well St Moriz Self Tan Removing Foam, £4.99, works. "You'll notice almost immediately that colour starts running off in the water, and it is noticeably lifted from the skin," Meghan says. "With just the water pressure, some areas were already tan-free (though I imagine this happens more if you leave the remover on for longer, as I did) – no scrubbing or exfoliating required."
