Miley Cyrus Reveals She Wears 'Grandma' Bathing Suits Because She's 'So Insecure' About Past Body Comments
Miley Cyrus shared that she is "insecure" about her body due to past hurtful memes
The singer says that she prefers to wear "grandma" bathing suits over bikinis
Cyrus opened up about her insecurity on Monica Lewinsky's podcast, Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky
Miley Cyrus is "still so insecure" about her body.
On the Monday, June 9, episode of Monica Lewinsky's podcast Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, the singer, 32, opened up about how past comments about her physique still affect her.
Cyrus recalled body-shaming memes that circulated the internet in 2013, the same year of her infamous performance alongside Robin Thicke at the MTV VMAs. "People were putting my head on different, very unattractive things," said the singer.
'I still see that when I put on a bathing suit to this day,' she continued. 'I wear very modest bathing suits.'
The Disney Channel alum explained that on a recent girls' trip, "everyone else had on a string bikini," while she opted for shorts.
'I don't even know if people wear tankinis anymore," she added. "I was wearing like a tank top.'
"You're bringing them back," Lewinsky, 51, interjected.
Cyrus continued, 'My sister goes, 'You're you, so this is cool. I guess this is in now. You're making this cool. But, like, you know this is what a grandma wears to the beach.''The singer added, 'It just hit me, like oh, I'm still so insecure about those memes about my body.'
Cyrus also opened up about other ways her 2013 VMAs performance impacted her life.
"That was the time where I just got hit so hard and I was so embarrassed," she told Lewinsky.

"There was even a time where my brother and sister didn't want to go to school because of how humiliated they were to be related to me," said Cyrus.

"I remember my brother at one point he was saying, 'I don't judge you, but you could understand how hard it is for me to go to school, and you be my sister.' I was a hard sibling to have as a little girl, so I was like 'All right we're even,' " recalled Cyrus.
That time, however, ended up being "really hard" for the star.
"I lost everything during that time in my personal life because of the choices I was making professionally," she said. "If I kept dressing or acting a certain way, my relationships fell apart. No one wanted to date me because they didn't want to be with a woman [whose] sexual expression part was not for them. It was like shared with the world."
Cyrus continued, "So, like, guys, when I would try to date, when I was dating, or who I was engaged to at the time, that didn't work out because I was sharing a part of myself that men wanted to be saved for them only."

Princess Charlotte's Expected Role at Trooping the Colour Proves She's the Ultimate Big Sister
Princess Charlotte, 10, and the rest of the royal family are gearing up for Trooping the Colour on June 14 and fans are already expecting an important personal role for her. The middle child of Prince William and Kate Middleton is known to be the reliable rule-follower in the family — that means she will probably be helping Mom keep Prince Louis' adorable antics to a minimum. A royal source promised GB News that Charlotte loves playing the big sister role to her little brother. And if he misbehaves? More from SheKnows Kate Middleton's 2025 Trooping the Color Look Honors Both Princess Diana & Queen Elizabeth II 'Don't worry, his sister will do [take care of] that,' the palace insider confirmed. At Trooping the Colour in 2024, Charlotte was spotted helping Louis with royal protocol. She sweetly showed him how to hold his arms for the English National Anthem, but she also scolded him to 'stop' when he danced on the balcony. Charlotte takes her royal role very seriously. Princess Charlotte's 'strong character' is why her appearances will reportedly be ramped up this summer. Childrenswear designer Amaia Arrieta described the young royal to People as 'almost wise beyond her years.' 'She looks very confident and at ease with herself and the environment she's in,' she added. 'The maturity that comes with that responsibility—she seems to nail it every time.' Prince Louis, 7, has become known for his carefree, wild streak, something that royal fans don't necessarily see in Prince George, 11, or his younger sister. BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond explained why there seems to be parenting differences with Louis. 'Being the youngest is often something of a privilege,' she told the Mirror. 'You get away with a lot more and you are that little bit special as the last-born.' 'Catherine probably lets Louis run wild more than she did with George. She and William are very experienced parents and I'm sure they love all three kids equally—but probably in different ways,' she added. 'George because he's the first-born and has a destiny to fulfill, Charlotte because she's the only girl, and Louis because he's the youngest.' So, Charlotte will likely step up and guide Prince Louise throughout the Trooping the Colour festivities as she shines as a leader in the royal family. Miley Cyrus shares the first big purchase she ever made: 'I still have it to this day'
Miley Cyrus still remembers the first purchase she ever made upon making "a little money." It was "a black perforated Alaia belt," Cyrus, 32, told The New York Times in an interview that published on May 31. "I do still have it, and that's why I'm so emotionally attached to Alaia." Perforated Alaia belts currently run for $850 to $1,750 each, according to the French design house's site. Cyrus, who wore a custom crop top and skirt made by the brand at the 2025 Met Gala on May 5, is perhaps best-known today as a three-time Grammy-winning recording artist. But she first attained public recognition and wealth as a child actor — playing the titular character on the Disney Channel's TV show, "Hannah Montana." The show first aired in 2006, when Cyrus was 13 years old, and ran until 2011. Cyrus' affinity for high-end fashion hasn't gone away: In December, she purchased a vintage Bob Mackie dress at auction that was previously estimated to sell for up to $8,000, according to the Hollywood Reporter. (The actual price Cyrus paid remains undisclosed.) Clothing is a popular choice among newly minted celebrities, looking to spend their first big paycheck. NFL star Travis Kelce spent around $10,000 on a limited edition pair of Nike Air MAGs, he said on his "New Heights" podcast, in an episode that aired in May 2023. "Saturday Night Live" star Bowen Yang bought a pair of Gucci shoes with his first paycheck from the TV show, he told New York magazine in a video published on Dec. 4. "The kind that everyone got, and the kind I wouldn't feel super cool wearing out now," Yang high-profile first big-money purchases include homes, sometimes for family members, or cars. Retired NBA star Shaquille O'Neal did both: He spent his first $1 million within hours on paying off his mom's house, three Mercedes Benzes — for himself, his dad and his mom — and "rings and diamonds and earrings," he told Business Insider in November 2017. If you ever receive a windfall of money — whether that's winning the lottery or landing a job with a major pay raise — don't be hasty, financial experts advise. Working with estate and tax advisors can help you avoid unnecessary taxes, Warren Racusin, a wealth planning attorney and partner at Lowenstein Sandler, told CNBC in December 2023. Those financial experts can especially help you prevent regrettable spending decisions. At age 24, for example, comedian and actor Kevin Hart shelled out for a series of throwback jerseys from athletes like Julius Ervin, Reggie White, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, he told CNBC Make It in October 2018. He declined to share how much he spent. "If I had to put a number on it, I would say it was stupid plus stupid, which equals stupid, OK? I don't even feel comfortable talking about it," Hart said, adding: "In my defense, so many people don't understand the value of money until they have it ... When you have it and lose it, you understand the value of it and its importance."

Gerard Butler Made People 'Cower' on 'How To Train Your Dragon 'Set While Reprising Stoick the Vast Role (Exclusive)
Gerard Butler reprises his How to Train Your Dragon role of Stoick the Vast in the 2025 live-action remake Butler previously voiced the character for the franchise's animated films Mason Thames, who stars as Hiccup in the remake, recalls Butler's powerful presence on setGerard Butler was all too perfect to play a viking chief in How to Train Your Dragon. Costar Mason Thames, who plays Hiccup in the 2025 live-action remake of the beloved animated movie series, recounts how the 55-year-old Scottish actor evoked an intimidating viking spirit while filming. "When he would walk on set, you would feel that presence," Thames, 17, says of Butler, who reprises his role of Stoick the Vast from the animated films. "It's insane to see it in person and him bringing that character to life with the voice, the energy, the giant brute force that Stoick is — him bringing that to life was so incredible to watch." Thames notes that Butler, who has previously played intimidating characters such as Leonidas the King of Sparta in 300, was impressive to witness once he transformed into mighty Chieftain of Berk. "I feel like he would walk on set and everybody would kind of cower a little bit, including myself," Thames says, describing how people would see Butler in full costume and makeup — beard, armor and all — and call him "chief." The Black Phone 2 actor says that working with Butler and "building chemistry" as they tackled their father-son dynamic for the film was enjoyable because of the "energy" he brought to set. The new film is directed by Dean DeBlois, director of the animated How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, The three animated films, inspired by author Cressida Cowell's bestselling book series, came out in 2010, 2014 and 2019, and each earned Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature. The cast also features Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz and Murray McArthur. A synopsis for the film teases, "On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart.
