Oblivion
remastered version. In a post shared on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter), the company shared a gameplay trailer of the game that shows updated visuals and gameplay enhancements for the open‑world RPG. In the video, the studio demonstrated the improved lighting, textures and user‑interface improvements in the remastered version. In a live stream event on YouTube, Todd Howard, director and executive producer at Bethesda, also discussed how the nearly 20‑year‑old title has been updated and placed in the broader evolution of Bethesda's game catalogue. The project is being handled by Virtuous, a studio known for remakes, and is built on
Unreal Engine 5
to deliver refined graphics and smoother performance.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered version has been made available starting today (April 22), across PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5 for $49.99. The game is also available on the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service.

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered: Gameplay and other details
Originally released in 2006 on PC and Xbox 360 (with a 2007 PlayStation 3 version), Oblivion is set in the province of Cyrodiil. In this game, players have to take on the role of an agent working to stop a cult intent on opening portals to the demonic realm of Oblivion.
The remaster rebuilds Tamriel and the planes of Oblivion with handcrafted environments, allowing players to explore richly detailed landscapes. Players may choose to assume the roles of a warrior, assassin, sorcerer or blacksmith, shaping their journey.
It includes the original game along with the Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine and additional DLC. The studio also mentioned that every asset has been recreated from the ground up, featuring updated lighting, shadows and lip‑sync.
Core systems, including audio, interface, levelling (combining elements from Skyrim and Oblivion), encumbrance, non‑combat perks, and other mechanics, have all been revised and modernised.
The third‑person view in the game now supports sprinting, and systems like Persuasion and Clairvoyance have received interface updates. The HUD, menus and map have also been reworked, enemy scaling adjusted, and character animations refreshed.
