Kim Kardashian goes makeup free for pricey skin treatment regimen as she prepares for 2025 Met Gala

Daily Mail30-04-2025
She confirmed this week that she was willing to testify at the French trial of the 'Grandpa Gang' of alleged thieves who are accused of robbing her at gunpoint in 2016.
But Kim Kardashian also had another obligation coming up to plan for — the 2025 Met Gala, which will be held on May 5 in New York City.
The 44-year-old reality star revealed Monday in her Instagram Stories that she is going all out on expensive skin treatments to make sure she's looking her best next week.
She shared a photo of herself lying on what looked like a spa bed as a person wearing gloves held a chunky plastic-coated device against her cheek.
'This is my third time doing @sofwavemed and I think it's one of the only lasers that works for firming!' she gushed in her caption.
Sofwave boasts on its website that it uses non-invasive technology that has received FDA clearance.
The reality star seems to be getting prepped ahead of unveiling her latest show-stopping look at the 2025 Met Gala in New York on May 5; pictured in May 2024
According to the company, the technology that it uses ultrasound waves to heat tissue, and the subsequent healing reaction allegedly stimulates increased production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid to decrease wrinkles and signs of aging.
Kim, who was makeup free in the photo, had gel smeared on her face and neck where the device was being used, and she also didn't have any clothing visible at or above her shoulders.
In a subsequent post, she revealed that she had the treatment done at the 7Q Spa Laser & Aesthetic Center and posed with its founders, sisters Noune and Lilia Serobian.
She's a regular customer there, and the spa even features a photo of Kim from a 2024 visit on its website's homepage.
Although the spa doesn't list the price of the treatment, Sofwave treatments commonly cost more than $1,000 for a session covering a small area of the face.
However, Kim had gel all over her face and neck, suggesting she was going for the full-face treatment, which can cost more than $4,500.
The Kardashians star isn't a new evangelist for the procedure, as she previously raved about it on Instagram in February, via Page Six.
'Sofwave heats the skin to trigger collagen production. There's no downtime. And totally lifts which is why I would do it everywhere I possibly could lol,' she captioned a photo of herself mid-treatment.
She shared a photo of herself with the 7Q Spa Laser & Aesthetic Center's founders. It's website features a 2024 photo of her from a previous session; seen with Kanye West in 2013 in NYC
In another snap of the device itself, she admitted that it 'hurts on the body but not on the face for some reason,' but despite the pain factor, she gushed that it was 'BEYOND worth it.'
Kim can boast some of the most iconic looks from Met Galas going back more than a decade, and she has made high-profile appearance at the event with her ex-husband Kanye West and her subsequent ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson.
The annual gala is held at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art and is a fundraiser supporting the museum's Costume Institute.
On Monday, it was reported that Kim may have to relive a traumatic 2016 robbery in which she had a gun held to her head as a trial over the robbery begins in Paris.
The reality star is expected to testify in the trial — which commenced at Paris' Palais de Justice on Monday — nearly a decade after the jewel theft, according to Sky News.
On October 2, 2016, she was robbed of her jewels by five men disguised as police officers who were described in French media as the 'Grandpa Gang' due to the advanced age of the alleged robbers — though some of the people charged with the crime are fairly young and one defendant is a woman.
Shockingly, Kim was seen flashing incredibly valuable jewelry in public just days before news broke that she would likely testify, which led to widespread criticism, including from jewelry experts.
In a statement, Kardashian's attorney Michael Rhodes confirmed that she would likely testify next month.
'[Kim] Kardashian is preserving her testimony for the Court and jury and does not wish to elaborate further on it at this stage,' he said. 'She has tremendous appreciation and admiration for the French judicial system and has been treated with great respect by the French authorities.'
The defendants are accused of holding a hotel concierge hostage at gunpoint in order to gain entrance to Kardashian's room.
Once inside the reality star–turned–actress' room, they allegedly pointed a gun at her and ordered her to remove her massive engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West.
The robbery took a horrific turn as the robbers bound her arms and legs with zip ties and covered her eyes and mouth with duct tape.
Kardashian, who reportedly begged for her life during the shocking robbery, eventually managed to wriggle her hands free and removed the tape over her mouth to cry out for help.
It was too late, as the robbers had already escaped with a box of her jewelry, most of which was never recovered.
Due to the age of the senior robbers, one defendant has already died, while another is set to have a separate trial.
Eight of the ten defendants in the long-awaited group trial continue to maintain their innocence.
The post was part of some vacation content featuring her family in a tropical locale. After uploading her post earlier this week, influencer and jewelry expert Julia Chafe shared an Instagram video calling out the the SKIMS founder flaunting her exorbitant wealth
Kardashian was criticized in some corners after the robbery for her public displays of incredible wealth, which may have made it easier for robbers to determine that she had plenty of valuables with her while she attended Paris Fashion Week in 2016.
Since then, she has been far more reserved about displaying pricey jewels in public.
However, she made a surprisingly timed departure from that in recent Instagram posts show her family's getaway to a tropical locale.
After uploading her post, influencer and jewelry expert Julia Chafe shared a video calling out the the reality star for flaunting her exorbitant wealth on Instagram.
While many overlooked the luxe accessories wrapped around the SKIMS founder's ankle, Chafe pointed out that 'cost more than' a house.
'She stacked four anklets on top of each other, added a tennis anklet, a pink sapphire and diamond anklet that gave off major Princess Diana vibes, each sapphire probably around three carats, which is bigger than a lot of engagement rings out there,' Chafe claimed.
Chafe continued, saying the audacity of wearing the expensive jewelry on the beach is part of what makes the mother-of-four such a rare and remarkable person.
'The sheer audacity of wearing this much money on your foot at the beach is what makes Kim K so fabulous,' Chafe said.
Her latest post also included photos of her on vacation with her kids and her younger sister Khloé Kardashian for some rest and relaxation
Chafe went on to share that she admires Kim's jewelry evolution over the years.
'Kim getting into pink sapphires? Love it. She's been all about diamonds and emeralds for so long, so it's exciting to see her shift to sapphires now.'
Others in the comment section, however, called out the reality star for her tone-deaf behavior.
'Remember when she said she wasn't going to post her jewelry on social media bc she was robbed in Paris……..neither does she,' one wrote.
Another joked: 'I'm waiting for a meme of her losing an anklet to show up.'
A third stated that there was nothing 'admirable' about 'someone flaunting that much money on a beach while people are literally starving.'
Her latest post also included photos of her on vacation with her kids and her younger sister Khloé Kardashian for some rest and relaxation
She captioned her post, 'the things we do on vacation' and included shots of her zip lining, doing a puzzle with Khloé, and pics of her kids enjoying shaved ice and fishing.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson commented on her post, writing, 'Beautiful. It's Maui time! I'm coming to sing to the kids (in keys that don't exist) Enjoy the mana!'
The Hawaii trip comes as Kim is set to give testimony in the trial over the October 2016 robbery in which Kim was held at gunpoint in her Paris hotel as masked thieves stole $9 million worth of jewelry from her.
Among the jewels stolen was Kim's 18.8 carat diamond and platinum engagement ring from Kanye West.
Meanwhile, Kim's volatile ex-husband Kanye West is still stirring up trouble for her.
Most recently he went on a rant on Twitch about Kim, saying he should have had kids with Paris Hilton instead.
The 47-year-old rapper — who recently went a month-long retreat that saved his marriage to Bianca Censori — made the wild claims in a rant on a livestream for a new Twitch channel which has since been banned.
He appeared on the stream and was speaking to someone on the phone when his shocking rant began.
Kanye had referenced how his ex Kim, got her start in the limelight by acting as Paris' assistant.
He said: 'Kim was Paris Hilton's assistant. I should've had babies with Paris Hilton over Kim Kardashian!'
Kanye and Kim share four children together: North, 11, Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, five.
Could you imagine if I had kids with Paris Hilton? How many hotels I would have right now? Think about that. The Hilton. The Hilton s***.'
Kanye was swiftly banned from Twitch as his channel went down just 10 minutes after he started streaming
Social media account Drama Alert were among the outlets to have reposted the shocking footage as their comments section was filled with many disgusted by Kanye's comments.
One wrote: 'Bro saying he regretted having his own kids'
Another was worried about Kim and Kanye's children and how they would take their father's comments if they ever came across them.

Skibidi, tradwife and delulu: Social media words dominate new additions to Cambridge dictionary

"Skibidi", "tradwife", "delulu" and other slang terms popularised by social media are among thousands of new words to be added to the Cambridge Dictionary this year. Several phrases were also added, such as "mouse jiggler" to refer to inactive work-from-home employees, and the term "forever chemical," a label given to extremely persistent man-made chemicals that pollute the environment. In total, over 6,000 words were added to the dictionary. Skibidi, a meme word with a flexible meaning, was coined by the creator of a viral animated video series called "skibidi toilet" on YouTube, Cambridge Dictionary said. Kim Kardashian revealed her familiarity with the phrase when she posted a video on Instagram in October showing a necklace her daughter had given her as a birthday present, engraved with 'skibidi toilet.' "Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the dictionary," said Colin McIntosh, lexical programme manager at Cambridge Dictionary. What do some of the new words mean? Skibidi - a gibberish word that can have different meanings, such as cool or bad, or can be used with no real meaning as a joke. An example of its use is: "What the skibidi are you doing?" Tradwife - short for traditional wife, meaning a married woman who stays at home doing cooking, cleaning, and has children that she takes care of, but also regularly documents their life on social media. Delulu - a play on the word delusional, with a similar definition: believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to. Broligarchy - a composite word merging 'bro' and 'oligarchy', meaning a small group of men, especially men owning or involved in a technology business, who are extremely rich and powerful, and who have or want political influence. The term has been used to describe Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Mr McIntosh said Cambridge Dictionary only adds words which they believe will stand the test of time. 'It's not every day you get to see words like 'skibidi' and 'delulu' make their way into the Cambridge Dictionary,' he said. 'We only add words where we think they'll have staying power.' Cambridge Dictionary uses the Cambridge English Corpus, a database of more than two billion words of written and spoken English, to observe how new words are used by different people, how often and in what contexts they are used. More remote working since the pandemic helped 'mouse jiggler', meaning a device or piece of software used to make it seem as though you are working when you are not, gain its place in the dictionary. Meanwhile, new entries like 'work wife' and 'work spouse' acknowledge workplace relationships where two people help and trust each other, Cambridge Dictionary said.

Social media terms skibidi, tradwife and delulu added to Cambridge Dictionary

New additions to the Cambridge Dictionary includes slang terms popularised by social media, along with phrases made up of existing words. "Skibidi", "tradwife", "delulu" and other slang terms made popular by social media are among thousands of new words to be included in the Cambridge Dictionary this year. ‌ The ongoing remote working situation has brought about terms like "mouse jiggler" and concerns over climate change have led to the addition of the phrase "forever chemical", along with more than 6,000 other words. Slang term "skibidi", a nonsensical word, was added to the world's largest online dictionary in the past 12 months. ‌ Defined in the dictionary as "a word that can have different meanings such as 'cool' or 'bad', or can be used with no real meaning as a joke', an example of its use is: "What the skibidi are you doing? ‌ "The term was coined by the creator of a viral animated video series called "skibidi toilet" on YouTube, Cambridge Dictionary said, and Kim Kardashian revealed her familiarity with the phrase when she posted a video on Instagram in October showing a necklace her daughter had given her as a birthday present, engraved with "skibidi toilet". Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the dictionary," said Colin McIntosh, lexical programme manager at Cambridge Dictionary." Tradwife", short for traditional wife, has also seen a surge in popularity, Cambridge Dictionary said, thanks to the digital world. This means a married woman who remains at home carrying out cooking, cleaning, and caring for children, with the dictionary definition also stating a "tradwife" is "especially one who posts on social media". Alongside fresh phrases, some abbreviated versions of existing terms have been included, such as "delulu", a twist on the word delusional, with a comparable definition: "believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to". Mr McIntosh explained Cambridge Dictionary only incorporates words which they believe will endure over time." ‌ It's not every day you get to see words like 'skibidi' and 'delulu' make their way into the Cambridge Dictionary," he said. "We only add words where we think they'll have staying power." Cambridge Dictionary utilises the Cambridge English Corpus, a database containing more than two billion words of written and spoken English, to monitor how fresh words are employed by various people, how frequently and in which contexts they are used. ‌ Increased remote working since the pandemic assisted "mouse jiggler", referring to a device or piece of software used to make it appear as though you are working when you are not, secure its position in the dictionary. Several compound terms such as "broligarchy" were also incorporated. Combining "bro" and "oligarchy", the term refers to "a small group of men, particularly those owning or involved in a technology business, who are extremely wealthy and influential, and who seek or possess political influence". This was used to characterise tech moguls Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg at Donald Trump's inauguration in January. In addition, fresh entries such as "work wife" and "work spouse" recognise workplace relationships where two individuals assist and trust each other, according to the Cambridge Dictionary.
