Cairo: Valu, MENA's leading universal financial technology powerhouse, announced today its outstanding financial and operational results for the first half of 2025, marking its first earnings release since becoming a publicly listed company on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX). Total Loans during 1H25 issued reached EGP 8.9 billion, up 60% Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y), with gross revenue for the period reaching EGP 2.6 billion, up 94% Y-o-Y, while net income surged to EGP 341 million, reflecting a 64% increase versus the same period last year. Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) during 1H25 stood at EGP 10.6 billion, an 80% rise from 1H24, driven by a 133% increase in transactions to 3.6 million, bringing its GMV Business-to-Date (BTD) to EGP 46 billion from 11.9 million transactions BTD. Valu's market share increased to 25%, underscoring its position as Egypt's leading lifestyle-enabling fintech platform.
For the second quarter of 2025, Valu maintained its strong trajectory, recording EGP 1.52 billion in gross revenue, up 96% Y-o-Y, and EGP 217 million in net income, a 121% increase compared to 2Q24. GMV for the quarter stood at EGP 5.21 billion, while transactions reached 1.89 million, reflecting continued operational scale and customer engagement.
'Valu's first earnings release as a listed company marks a pivotal moment in our journey,' said Valu CEO Walid Hassouna. 'We have transitioned from a disruptive startup to a publicly listed company with a proven track record of profitability and strong performance in the first half of 2025, a milestone that cements our evolution. These results reflect the resilience of our business and the effectiveness of our product development strategy from the rapid adoption of our prepaid card to the scalable expansion of our auto-loan offering, Shift. We've broadened our customer base, increased repeat usage, and maintained portfolio quality while scaling rapidly. The Amazon transaction, through which Amazon acquired a direct stake in Valu and our EGX listing, has unlocked new strategic levers to accelerate progress, deepen our funding base, and extend our regional footprint, with Jordan marking our first MENA entry beyond Egypt.'
Valu's operational performance was underpinned by its diversified product suite and disciplined execution. The company's prepaid card, launched over a year ago, has rapidly gained traction, with transaction spending more than tripling Y-o-Y and average daily expenditure reaching EGP 10.6 million in 2Q25. The Shift auto loan product also contributed significantly to GMV growth, reflecting rising demand for large-ticket financing solutions. Customer engagement remained strong, with activated customers reaching 831 thousand and repeat customer rates increasing by 24% Y-o-Y.
'We are building a regional fintech champion, created to support financial inclusion, powered by technology, and designed to answer the evolving needs of millions of customers. Our results reflect our model's strength, our team's agility in meeting market needs, and the trust of our stakeholders, which has kept them loyal to us. As we look ahead, we remain focused on expanding our footprint, enhancing our product offering, and delivering sustainable value to our shareholders and the communities we serve,' added Hassouna.
The company also achieved key strategic milestones during the period. In March, Valu received approval for its Fintech Operating License from the Financial Regulatory Authority, enabling fully digital onboarding. In July, Valu secured initial approval from the Central Bank of Jordan to launch operations, marking the beginning of its regional expansion.
Valu's funding base remains robust, with EGP 10 billion in authorized credit limits and EGP 16 billion in completed securitizations to date. The company's fourth securitization program, valued at EGP 10 billion and backed by an EGP 13 billion portfolio, received FRA approval in July, further enhancing its financial flexibility.

Abu Dhabi office market sees surge in demand in H1 2025: Report

14 Aug 2025 18:20 A. SREENIVASA REDDY (ABU DHABI)Demand for office space in Abu Dhabi soared in the first half of 2025, with requirements exceeding 5 million square feet, marking a 110% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Knight Frank's Abu Dhabi Office Market Review. Business services remained the largest driver of demand, accounting for 32% of requirements, followed by government entities at 9%.Faisal Durrani, Partner – Head of Research, MENA, said new rental contracts had been a key driver of market activity in 2025, with transaction volumes peaking in January, signalling fresh demand and corporate expansion in the UAE capital. Occupancy levels across the city's Grade A stock remain at record highs, with limited availability sustaining and, in many cases, driving up rents for best-in-class leasing market, however, showed a mixed performance across submarkets in the second quarter. Musaffah led quarter-on-quarter rental growth with a 73% increase, followed by Al Bateen at 68% and Al Hisn at 19%. More established districts such as Al Danah and Al Nahyan experienced minor corrections, with rents slipping by 2% and 7% respectively, reflecting a higher concentration of older, secondary stock that is less favoured by Hodgetts, Partner – Occupier Strategy & Solutions, MEA, noted that there is 'good news on the horizon' with a strong pipeline of high-quality developments poised to enter the market. This new supply is expected to ease current constraints, offer occupiers greater choice, and set new benchmarks for quality, sustainability and design. Immediate completions include Aldar's HB Tower in Yas Island, providing 238,647 square feet of Grade A space, and the Saas Business Tower on Al Reem Island, delivering 129,210 square feet. Both developments are positioned to appeal to international and domestic corporate occupiers seeking flagship office supply pipeline points to a surge in new stock from 2027, with nearly 175,000 square metres of office space scheduled for delivery that year, following more modest additions of around 51,000 square metres in 2025 and just over 43,000 square metres in 2026. Shehzad Jamal, Partner – Strategy and Consultancy, MENA, said: 'Demand is likely to remain robust and continue to outpace the delivery of premium supply for the rest of the year, fuelling further rental growth in the prime segment. Pre-leasing activity for landmark projects scheduled for 2026–2028 will be a key indicator of sentiment, with the performance gap between Grade A, well-located assets and older secondary stock expected to widen as the flight-to-quality trend intensifies.'In Dubai, the Dubai Office Market Review showed record high-value transactions, with 83 office sales over Dh10 million in H1 2025 — a 207% jump from H1 2024. Average prices in Downtown climbed above Dh5,000 per square foot, while Business Bay surpassed Dh2,000 per square foot for the first time. The business services sector drove 38% of Dubai's total demand, followed by technology (31%) and real estate (12%).Durrani said Dubai's Grade A vacancy rates were 'at record lows,' contrasting with other global gateway cities, while Adam Wynne, Partner – Head of Commercial Agency, UAE, noted strong occupier demand for entire floors or buildings in upcoming developments. Knight Frank forecasts that by 2030, Dubai's office stock will reach nearly 148 million sqft, supported by more than 25 million square feet of new supply, much of it already being sold off-plan.

MENA Golf Tour announces major 2025 relaunch in bid to boost regional golf

The MENA Golf Tour is set for a high-profile comeback this year, marking a significant boost for golf across the Middle East and North Africa region. Since its launch in 2011, the MENA Golf Tour has been a critical springboard for emerging golf professionals and amateurs, offering world-ranking points, competitive purses, and international exposure that have helped players from the Middle East and beyond break through to the game's top tours. After being abandoned for the entire 2018 season and enduring a stop-start return in 2020 that was cut short by the pandemic, the MENA Golf Tour is now poised for a full-scale comeback, aiming to reclaim its position as one of the Middle East's leading professional and amateur circuits and rebuild the momentum lost during years of disruption. Leading the Tour's resurgence is Keith Waters, former Chief Operating Officer of the DP World Tour and long-standing board member of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), who steps in as the new Chairman and Commissioner. Waters' appointment brings heavyweight experience to the only OWGR-recognised circuit headquartered in the Middle East. Now, with over four decades of top-tier golf administration, including his pivotal role in launching the OWGR in 2004, Waters is expected to drive the Tour into an ambitious new era. The 2025/2026 season will feature 12 events, opening in Portugal following a November Qualifying School for non-exempt players. Talks are underway with both the DP World Tour and the HotelPlanner Tour to create a formal development pathway, giving the MENA Golf Tour's top performers direct access to DP World Tour Qualifying School and the HotelPlanner Tour. Waters backs Tour revival 'I'm delighted to be involved in the relaunch of the MENA Golf Tour,' said Waters. 'This Tour has tremendous potential and serves as a crucial pathway for golfers, not just from the Middle East, but internationally. 'We have already seen success stories such as Robert MacIntyre, who progressed from the MENA Golf Tour to winning prestigious titles like the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA TOUR and the Genesis Scottish Open on the DP World Tour.' MacIntyre, now a two-time DP World Tour winner and sitting second on the European Ryder Cup ranking, paid tribute to the Tour's influence on his career. 'The MENA Golf Tour opened doors, taught me how to win, and prepared me for the challenges of the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR,' said the Scot. 'I'm excited to see it return and give the next generation of players the same opportunities I had.' OWGR status, prize hike Under Waters' leadership, the revitalised circuit will retain its OWGR eligibility while significantly increasing prize purses with each event. "We're pleased the MENA Golf Tour will remain an eligible Official World Golf Ranking tour as well as prize money of $100,000 per event," said Waters. "Each tournament will be contested over 54 holes, featuring a 36-hole cut to the top 60 players and ties, with the winner taking home $18,000." Rayhan Thomas is another standout product of the MENA Golf Tour's talent pipeline and proof of its reach beyond the region. The Indian golfer, who was born and raised in Dubai, made headlines in 2016 when, at just 16, he became the first amateur to win a MENA Golf Tour event, the Dubai Creek Open. The following year, he gained international attention by tying a world record with nine consecutive birdies during the same tournament.
