‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' is coming back for Season 2. What to know

NBC News23-04-2025

There's more #MomTok drama on the way! 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' returns for Season 2 this spring ... and an extended trailer dropped on April 22.
The Hulu reality series premiered in September 2024 and was renewed for a second season a month later. On March 10, Hulu released a premiere date for Season 2 and on April 22, offered an extended look at the season.
When does 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' return for Season 2?
Season 2 of 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' will premiere on Hulu on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
What will Season 2 of 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' be about?
According to Hulu, Season 2 of the reality series will shake things up with the introduction of another star.
Miranda McWhorter, along with ex-husband Chase McWhorter, confirmed they were part of a 'soft swinging' group within the #MomTok community.
'When an original swinger from their infamous sex scandal makes a surprise return, friendships threaten to unravel as secrets, lies, and allegations explode. In a battle for the soul of #MomTok, will betrayal shatter the sisterhood, or will the truth set them free?' a description reads.
Season 2 includes 10 episodes.
Filming for the season began at the end of October 2024. Currently, three members of the #MomTok group — Jen Affleck, Mikayla Matthews and Mayci Neeley — are expecting children, so their pregnancies may play a role in Season 2.
Who is in the cast of 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives'?
Hulu lists Taylor Frankie Paul, Demi Engemann, Jennifer Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Mathews and Whitney Leavitt — the same cast as last season — as the Season 2 stars.
McWhorter is a new addition to the cast.
The trailers give insight into what to expect
The Season 2 trailer released April 22 is a full 2 minutes long, and it's full of action. The short clip begins with Mayci Neeley saying, 'I think #MomTok's been a positive impact for the Mormon community.'
Flashes of the women wearing lingerie and moving suggestively tell a different story, however.
Jen Affleck, whose marriage was on the rocks at the end of Season 1, can be seen having a heart-to-heart with husband Zac Affleck. She smirks slightly while looking at him, and when he asks for a hug, she offers him a handshake. The Afflecks are expecting their third child.
The #MomTok group clearly doesn't want to allow former member Whitney Leavitt within their ranks, but Leavitt appears determined to get back in their good graces.
While the #MomTok group is gathered together for an outing, one of the women says, 'Is that Miranda?' Ngatikaura refers to McWhorter as 'Taylor's ex-best friend.'
For her part, McWhorter vows, 'I'm going to set the record straight on the swinging scandal.'
Taylor Frankie Paul's storyline is up next, along with her partner Dakota Mortensen. Paul says their relationship is 'getting worse' and mentions that she's concerned about his sobriety.
The clip also teases a pregnancy announcement, a fight that prompts a call to the police, a controversial trip to Italy and plenty of other drama.
'Honestly, the show must go on,' Demi Engemann declares at the end of the trailer.
What happened at the end of Season 1?
Season 1 of 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' left viewers with several cliffhangers. For starters, Jen Affleck was facing marriage challenges and a potential move to New York. Paul and Mortensen's relationship was also a bit uneasy.

Major changes coming to Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! after more than 40 seasons of the iconic shows

Two of America's most iconic game shows are finally headed to streaming. Starting this September, Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune will be available to stream on Hulu, Peacock, and Hulu on Disney+, Variety has reported. This marks the first time that the long-running shows will be accessible on major platforms the day after they air on television. The multi-year deal, made by Sony Pictures Television, includes both current and select past episodes of each series. That means fans will not only get to keep up with the latest game shows but also revisit memorable moments from past seasons. 'We are thrilled to bring America's favorite game shows to an even wider audience on Hulu, Hulu on Disney+, and Peacock,' said Keith Le Goy, Chairman of Sony Pictures Television. 'Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are two of the most successful game shows in television history and we look forward to giving fans the best possible streaming access to our shows this fall.' Streaming will begin as Jeopardy! hits its 42nd season and Wheel marks its 43rd. 'These deals will expand Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune's reach to a new generation of viewers while ensuring that existing fans can enjoy their favorite shows with greater accessibility, deepening the fandom overall for these formidable franchises,' Sony added in its release. Historically, the absence of the shows from the streaming world has puzzled viewers, especially given their massive popularity. However, the shows' syndication structure and the ongoing legal disputes between Sony and CBS have long complicated their digital distribution. In 2024, Sony filed a lawsuit against CBS, claiming the network engaged in acts of 'self-dealing' in its distribution of the popular game shows Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. Sony claimed in the court docs that CBS breached agreements in making unauthorized transactions in Australia and New Zealand that garnered them revenues of $3.6 million they subsequently refused to share, according to Variety. CBS countersued weeks later, in which the company claimed Sony was 'attempting to obtain in court what it could not get at the bargaining table: the rights to the series for free, by finding any excuse it can muster.' In April, a judge ruled in favor of Sony taking over the distribution of the shows. However, just last week, the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, granted CBS a writ of supersedeas. That means CBS will remain the current distributor while the appeal is ongoing, effectively pausing the April decision until the legal process is complete. The news of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! coming to streaming follows another major program's signing of a streaming service deal. In January, WWE RAW finally made its long-awaited, $3.8 billion debut on Netflix. RAW has been running since 1993 and is broadcasted every Monday night. Netflix chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, said at the time: 'We are excited to have WWE RAW, with its huge and passionate multigenerational fan base, on Netflix. 'By combining our reach, recommendations, and fandom with WWE, we'll be able to deliver more joy and value for their audiences and our members. 'RAW is the best of sports entertainment, blending great characters and storytelling with live-action 52 weeks a year and we're thrilled to be in this long-term partnership with WWE.'

EXCLUSIVE Rickey Smiley reveals he has no issue with 'offending people' as he details list of taboo topics in comedy special

Rickey Smiley is back - and has declared that he is funnier than ever before. 'I haven't done a special in 12 years, so I'm really excited about it,' he told Smiley - whose new special Fool-ish is now available to stream on Hulu - describes his latest project as 'funny, animated, with a lot of energy.' '[It's] really physical,' he quips. 'Something that I think everybody would enjoy.' Smiley, 56, says 'life has brought a lot of changes' since his last special, something which he delves into in Fool-ish. Joking that he is now 'older, and has a beard,' he also spoke about the changes having grown children - and recently discovering he is the biological father to six-year-old twin girls - has had on his comedy. 'I talk about that in the special as well,' he assures fans. 'It's a great special to be in your 40s and 50s, [and for] people in their 20s and 30s or whatever.' 'I think I'm funnier now, than I was before,' he declared. 'Because at this age, you say whatever on your mind and you don't care who gets mad.' 'When you have more life behind you than in front of you, you don't care,' he laughed. Smiley, who lost his 32-year-old son Brandon to an accidental overdose in January 2023, said performing his show felt like they were on stage together. 'My son was a performer, he was funny. He had his own style, and uniqueness on stage,' he reflected. 'I'm just glad that we were able to share and do the same thing,' he said passionately. For Smiley, who has been performing in comedy shows since the 1980s, there were no nerves when it came to curating the show. 'I'd done so many shows and comedy clubs, three shows Saturday, two shows Friday - do the morning show every single morning,' he listed. He joked it was like exercising the comedy muscles in your brain, and had 'a lot of fun' coming up with what to include in the special. 'I've been performing for years, and if you figure out if you're going to do a special, you go ahead and let's put a special set together,' he explained. The comedian added there may be some humor that may offend people, he deems his content universally engaging. 'You say what needs to be said and it's funny and everybody relates to it, and you're only saying what everybody's thinking anyway, so we just bold enough to say it,' the comedian shared. He revealed his potentially taboo topics include 'talking about little people' and his favorite TV show - My 600 Pound Life. 'People might get offended,' he admitted. 'But hey, it's funny, they're going to watch it.'
