Southampton make approach for former Lens manager Will Still

Yahoo18-05-2025
To everyone's surprise, Will Still announced late on Saturday night that he will be leaving RC Lens. The announcement came after the 4-0 win over AS Monaco on the final day of the Ligue 1 season. The result ensured that Lens finished the season eighth, and in the event of Olympique Lyonnais being excluded from European competition by UEFA, Les Sang et Or would get a back-door route into Europe next season.
However, should that be the case, they will not be led by Still, who, in an emotional post-match interview, confirmed that he would be leaving the club due to personal reasons. He stated that he would be returning to England. According to Miguel Delaney, he could quickly find a new club.

The Independent journalist reports that Southampton, who next season will be compting in the EFL Championship following relegation from the Premier League, have made an approach for Still, and there is confidence that a deal can be completed.

How on-song Luke Littler completed his Down Under double

LUKE Littler produced a brilliant display to beat Luke Humphries and claim the New Zealand Darts Masters title. Warrington's 18-year-old world champion followed up his victory in Australia last weekend by averaging more than 115 in an 8-4 final success over defending champion Humphries in Auckland. 'It felt very much the same as last week,' said 'The Nuke'. 'I had a shaky start in my opening game but, once you come into finals night, you know you have to switch it on, and that's what I did again tonight. 'I felt unbeatable up there. The crowd was brilliant and the venue was incredible – it felt like a Premier League night – and I'm very happy to lift another title. 'I'm playing very well at the moment, I'm enjoying my darts, and hopefully I can keep this winning streak going.' 'The Nuke' produced a nine-darter in practice during the final's interval, and he was two darts shy of producing one for real on stage. Littler always looked in control against Humphries, opening up an early 3-0 lead before extending his cushion to 6-2. Humphries reduced the deficit to two legs but Littler finished in style with successive 11-darters. Earlier, Littler had beaten Mike De Decker 6-2 and Gerwyn Price 7-2, the latter including a 109 average and a 170 'big fish' checkout that 'The Nuke' marked with a 'reeling in' celebration. World number one Humphries, who beat Littler in this year's Premier League decider, reached the final with a 6-2 success against Damon Heta before seeing off Chris Dobey 7-4. 'I played pretty well today but when you run into a 115 average there's not much you can do,' said Humphries. 'I think if I'd won that sixth leg it might have given me a glimmer of hope but the better player won for sure. 'When Luke's on it, he's untouchable. I held in there and I gave it my best but he was just too good in the end.'

Report – Inter Milan & Lille Still Far Apart On Fee For Ex Bayern Munich Star

Inter Milan and Lille are still reportedly quite far apart on a transfer fee for defender Benjamin Pavard. This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. Inter Milan signed Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich two years ago. And while he has made a big impact, there is a feeling that his form suffered a definite drop-off last season. Furthermore, the Frenchman will turn thirty next campaign. Therefore, there is a nagging sense that this may be the right time for Inter to cash in. The Frenchman came through Lille's youth team system before making a move to Stuttgart after 25 senior appearances for the club. And Lille see a potential opportunity to bolster their squad in defense. They will be competing in the Europa League this season. According to SportMediaset, however, the French club are still a long way away from convincing Inter on a deal for Pavard. The Nerazzurri may be willing to offers for the 29-year-old this summer. However, that does not mean that they are going to offload him for a cut-price fee.

Report – Inter Milan Consider Move For Genoa Star Before Deadline Day

Inter Milan are reportedly considering a move to sign Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup before the transfer window closes. This according to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri could aim to sign the Dane after their pursuit of Manu Kone came to nothing. Inter Milan are already fairly well-stocked in midfield. However, there are questions about whether the Nerazzurri have the right profiles for new coach Cristian Chivu. Inter have a number of midfielders who suit the 3-5-2 system well. However, Chivu has been trying to change the Nerazzurri over to a 3-4-2-1 formation. And there aren't many players who really fit into the double pivot of such s shape. Inter Consider Move For Genoa Midfielder Morten Frendrup NAPLES, ITALY – MAY 11: Philip Billing of Napoli battles for possession with Morten Frendrup of Genoa during the Serie A match between Napoli and Genoa at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on May 11, 2025 in Naples, Italy. (Photo by) The logic was clear from Inter when they made an offer for Roma midfielder Manu Kone. The Frenchman is a natural holding midfielder. He can win and keep possession deep on the pitch. However, the Nerazzurri have not managed to sign Kone. Roma decided to reject their advances for the 24-year-old. Therefore, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter could look elsewhere to bolster their midfield with a similar profile.
