Hibs' potential Europa League opponents whittled down
The draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland, this afternoon and will get underway at 12pm UK time.
Unseeded for the draw, it has become a bit clearer this morning who the Hibees could face in the second qualifying round as their potential opponents were whittled down.

In the Group 2 section of the draw, the seeded teams are Shakhtar Donetsk/Ilves, Midtjylland, Anderlecht and Sheriff Tiraspol/Prihstina.
There is clearly a lot of European pedigree between the majority of those sides. Shakhtar, often a Champions League side, would be favourites to beat their Finnish opponents and Sheriff would have that tag against the Kosovans. Midtjylland and Anderlecht would also provide testing opposition.
Hibs faced the Belgian giants in the 1992/93 UEFA Cup first round, losing on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
They have never faced any of their other potential opponents.

Liverpool willing to let three more stars leave as summer transfer overhaul continues
Liverpool are making big moves in the transfer market after embarking on a huge summer spree, while also letting Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz leave the club - and there could be more outgoings Liverpool could let three youngsters leave the club this summer as Luca Stephenson, James McConnell and Lewis Koumas gain interest from a number of teams. The Reds have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer window after spending nearly £300million on high profile stars like Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong. There have also been a handful of outgoings after the departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid for £10m and Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for around £63.5m. And the Premier League champions are open to sanctioning more exits for some young players as manager Arne Slot continues to overhaul his squad to keep it in fighting contention for the Premier League title once again. Stephenson has featured in pre-season under Slot and has impressed Slot after being included in the pre-season tour to Asia, but he has interest from Dundee United , Swansea, Reading, Rotherham and Cardiff over a loan move. Aberdeen are also fans of the 21-year-old and are considering a permanent transfer, according to the Liverpool Echo. Meanwhile, McConnell is attracting interest from West Brom, Ipswich, Derby, Oxford, Swansea and French side Metz after impressing for Liverpool in cup competitions in recent years - having caught the eye while starting for the team in a Champions League clash against PSV last season. And Koumas is another player who could be on the move as Norwich, Sheffield United, Hull, Preston, Birmingham and Wrexham all monitor the player. Koumas - who has already made his international debut for Wales - scored on his Liverpool debut in the FA Cup last year during a 3-0 win over Southampton and scored six times on loan with Stoke last season. There has even been an approach from La Liga giants Sevilla over Koumas' signature, with the Spanish club looking to rebuild after a relegation battle in 2024-25. It comes as Liverpool work on securing a massive deal for Alexander Isak after seeing a £120m bid rejected by Newcastle. Isak has already told the Magpies he wants to consider his options this summer and has refused to travel with the team for their pre-season tour in Asia - with manager Eddie Howe admitting the situation is "not in my control".

Aaron Ramsdale speaks out on what made him want Newcastle move
Aaron Ramsdale has completed his loan move from Southampton to Newcastle, pointing out three reasons behind his motivation to move to St James' Park. The 27-year-old spent just one year with the Saints after signing from Arsenal and it was not a great season as Southampton finished bottom of the Premier League table. The England international's reputation remained intact, though, and he is straight back into the top flight. The Magpies have brought in the goalkeeper on a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer and he expects that will be taken up as he says he will be with the club for the 'foreseeable future'. There were multiple reasons that Ramsdale was attracted to Newcastle, firstly mentioning St James' Park itself, where he has played many times before. Speaking on his unveiling as a Newcastle player, he said: 'It's great to be here. I've always loved coming here and I've seen how passionate and loud the fans can be. I've always loved playing here at St. James' Park – I've not always had the greatest of results, but when the fans get behind you it's some place.' The Magpies finished fifth last season, returning to the Champions League as a result and the chance to play at Europe's top table again was obviously also an attraction for the stopper. 'Coming to the stadium and seeing it empty today, it's quite surreal to think that this is going to be home for the foreseeable future,' he said. 'I've got the kit on, it's got the nice Champions League badge on the sleeve and I'm delighted to be here.' Another great appeal for Ramsdale is getting to work with manager Eddie Howe again after their time together at Bournemouth. The goalkeeper enjoyed his Premier League breakthrough with the Cherries, making 37 top flight appearances under Howe in the 2019/20 season. 'Working with the manager and his coaching staff again were a big draw for me,' he said. 'They've already had a great influence on my career and the gaffer turned me from a man into a professional footballer at Bournemouth. He really showed me the ropes so the manager and his coaching staff were a huge selling point for me to come here.' More Trending Newcastle already have Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka in their ranks and it is not entirely clear which goalkeeper will be first choice when the season gets underway later this month. Appearances: 183 Clean sheets: 41 Saves made: 595 Goals conceded: 278 Speaking of his new signing, Howe said: 'Aaron is an exceptional goalkeeper who adds further quality and international experience to our squad. 'Having worked with him before, I know what he can bring to us on and off the pitch, so we look forward to welcoming him into the group.' The Magpies get their Premier League campaign underway away at Aston Villa on Saturday August 16. Motherwell 1, Rangers 1: Longelo the hero for Motherwell as he rescues a point
Jens Berthel Askou's Premiership reign started with a draw against Rangers Emmanuel Longelo was Motherwell's hero as boss Jens Berthel Askou's Premiership campaign started with a draw against Rangers at Fir Park. James Tavernier's first-half header was cancelled out in the dying stages by Longelo's strike. The Ibrox side could be forgiven for having an eye on Tuesday's Champions League qualifier against Viktoria Plzen. Tavernier headed Rangers into the lead in 14 minutes, and it looked like Rangers might build on that, but instead they fell away from the game. They were made to pay for that as Motherwell bagged a late leveller. The game started at a frantic pace, with Motherwell not letting Rangers settle on the ball, but the visitors also advancing at pace, but the game died away midway through.. James Tavernier saw a 19-yard free kick well saved inside five minutes, and Djeidi Gassama looked lively, Emmanuel Longelo and Apostolos Stamatelopoulos both went close for Motherwell in the same move. Motherwell stepped it up in the second half and should have levelled through Elijah Just five minutes in, and the hosts created several decent chances to score. Motherwell boss Askou kept faith with the side that drew against Hertha Berlin, and beat Morton in their final Premier Sports Cup group stages game. Aston Oxborough again gets the nod on the bench. Rangers manager Russell Martin made one change to the side that progressed against Panathinaikos in the Champions League second qualifying round, as Djeidi Gassama replaces Findlay Curtis. Gassama was sent flying by Lukas Fadinger just outside the box in five minutes, with Tavernier lining up the free kick, but Calum Ward made a brilliant save to push it over the top left corner. A terrific Rangers move then ended with Gassama sending a first-time shot curling round the right post from eight yards out in nine minutes. Motherwell went close in 10 minutes when Johnny Koutroumbis' cross from the right was stabbed goalwards by defender Nasser Djiga, but keeper Jack Butland was alert to it and saved his blushes. Danilo had a snap-shot out of nothing that bounced off the top of the bar from just inside the box in 13 minutes, as Rangers searched for an opening. But Rangers got the opener in 14 minutes when Joe Rothwell's corner was headed in at the back post by Tavernier. Motherwell went close in 23 minutes when Watt sent Longelo racing through on the left and his shot was well parried by Butland, who also blocked Stamatelopoulos' follow-up. Slattery picked out Longelo on the left side of the box in 40 minutes, but his chip flew high and wide of the right post. Tawanda Maswanhise's cross from the right was just missed by Just with a diving header in 41 minutes. Kieran Dowell's cross from the right was headed at the back post by Gassama in 47 minutes, but was comfortably held by Ward. Three minutes later, Longelo's left wing free kick made its way to Stamatelopoulos on the right side of the box, but he fired high and wide. Slattery's free kick from wide on the left was headed just over by Just at the back post in 50 minutes. Midfielder Slattery was in the mood and sent Stamatelopoulos through on goal in 53 minutes, but Djjiga did just enough to block the Australian's shot. The unlikely figure of Paul McGinn nearly got on the score-sheet in 56 minutes, forcing a fine diving save from Butland, with the Rangers defence hacking the rebound to safety before anybody in claret and amber could pounce. Stamatelopoulos then picked out Maswanhise on the right corner of the box, but he sent his angled shot flying past the far post in 57 minutes. At the other end, John Souttar went on a run down the left, but his angled shot was well held by Ward in 63 minutes. Rothwell's corner on the left was bounced out the box, but only as far as Cameron, who let fly with a low shot that was well held by Ward in 69 minutes. Just's deep cross from the left was headed just over at the back post by Stamatelopoulos in 70 minutes, as Motherwell tried to get back level. Slattery tried his luck from distance, but sent his angled shot past the left post. But Motherwell bagged a leveller in 87 minutes when Longelo smashed in a low shot. Tom Sparrow could have won it for Motherwell in the dying stages but saw his shot well saved by Butland. MOTHERWELL: Ward, Koutroumbis, McGinn, Gordon (O'Donnell, 71), Longelo, Watt, Slattery (Sparrow, 90+1), Fadinger, Maswanhise, Just (Balmer, 90+1), Stamatelopoulos (Said, 80) Subs (not used): Oxborough (GK), Halliday, Wilson, Whyte, Ross Booked: Watt (60) RANGERS: Butland, Tavernier, Djiga, Souttar, Aarons, Rothwell (bajrami, 73), Diomande (Cameron, 63), Raskin (Barron, 73), Dowell, Gassama (Cortes, 82), Danilo (Dessers, 63) Attendance: 10,616
