Why Sharon Osbourne Fought So Hard To Bring Ozzy Back to England Before His Final Days

Yahooa day ago
When Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, many fans were surprised to learn that he was no longer living in Los Angeles. The Black Sabbath lead singer and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, relocated to England — a plan that was long in the works.
The couple spent their last year and a half together living in Buckinghamshire after spending most of their time in Southern California for over two decades. Their mansion will forever remain iconic, thanks to the MTV reality show, The Osbournes, but a return home to the U.K. was calling Sharon.

'Sharon had wanted to move back to England for years, especially as she got older. England was always home for them, but it became more than that,' an insider told People. 'It was about creating peace and the best life possible together in their final chapter. The path back to England wasn't easy. His health has been fragile for years. … It was a gift, because they got a year and a half together, at home.'
In the end, it was the right decision for the tight-knit family ahead of the rocker's passing. 'Ozzy's final days were spent in England, surrounded by family, music, and in the place he called home. He was in peace,' the source added.
The couple returned to England in February 2023, and Ozzy explained to The Guardian that they were no longer keen about the political strife that had been plaguing the U.S. over the last decade.
'Everything's f—ing ridiculous there. I'm fed up with people getting killed every day,' he said to the media outlet in August 2022. 'God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It's f—ng crazy.'
'And I don't want to die in America. I don't want to be buried in f—ing Forest Lawn,' Ozzy said of the famous Hollywood cemetery. 'I'm English. I want to be back. But saying that, if my wife said we've got to go and live in Timbuktu, I'll go.'
Being the ultimate businesswoman, though, Sharon brokered a deal for a 10-part BBC reality show, Home to Roost, which chronicles their move back to England — it hasn't aired yet, but it might, according to Deadline. If the momager had her way, she would have returned to their home country sooner, but Ozzy's chronic health problems, including his 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease, kept them in the U.S.
'It just seems that every time we're set to go, something happens with Ozzy's health,' she said on The Osbournes Podcast in July 2024. 'We'll get there. We want to go back so bad, but we'll get there. Won't we, Ozzy?'
They made it home with the move becoming permanent in March 2025 after bouncing between two countries for a few years, just in time for Ozzy to enjoy the comforts of home with Sharon.Best of SheKnows

Salford Lads and Girls Club given incredible news months after facing closure

Salford Lads and Girls Club has been awarded a grant of £438,000 - nine months after it faced closure. The money will be used for essential repairs to the Grade II-listed building in Ordsall. The cash is the biggest grant the 122-year-old institution has ever received and will ensure its future for generations to come. It was saved at the end of last year following a Manchester Evening News fundraising campaign. In just six weeks, £273,000 was raised. Donations included £100,000 from Salford council; £50,000 from Morrissey; and £30,000 from the gas company Cadent. Never miss a story with the MEN's daily Catch Up newsletter - get it in your inbox by signing up here The new grant of £437,961 is one of six awarded in the north west by Historic England which total £2.4m. The Heritage at Risk Capital Fund - led by the public body and funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport - rescues listed buildings and sites facing dereliction or demolition. Projects range from Victorian market halls to medieval churches Leslie Holmes, projects manager at Salford Lads and Girls Club for 23 years, said: "Getting recognition from people like Historic England is amazing. A lot of brick work on one side of the building needs repairing. We have had a lot of erosion and damage by strong winds. "There are quite a few bricks that need replacing. On the top of the building we have copings which are showing their age and need rebedding. Whenever there is a big storm we get water in the building. We are going to put an extra hopper on each of the downspouts which carry rainwater from the gutters. "After 23 years working to save the future of this remarkable building, this is by far the largest grant we have ever been awarded. In 2003 Salford Lads and Girls Club was listed as the rarest surviving example of a pre-First World Ward working lads clubs still in use. "This award from Historic England is another step in securing the club for future generations of local families and for the thousands of music fans from across the world who walk down Coronation Street to stand in front of the famous sign and who now come inside to share our special story." Laura Slingsby, chief executive officer at the club, said: "This support from Historic England is incredibly important for us. It's a place that families have walked through for generations. This investment will allow us to keep it standing strong for another 100 years. "We're not just preserving bricks and mortar, we're keeping alive a space that inspires pride, tells Salford's story of resilience, and provides our local community and young people with access to heritage and opportunities they wouldn't find elsewhere. It's a game-changer for the building, our club, and the entire community." Nick Abbot, a partner in the Simon Fenton Partnership, appointed as Quantity Surveyors for the restoration, attended the club as a youngster. He said: "Salford Lads and Girls Club isn't just bricks and mortar - it's a lifeline, a memory-maker, and a symbol of pride for so many in the community, including me. To play a part in preserving it for the future is incredibly special." In 1985, the club was used as the setting for an iconic image of Manchester band The Smiths. The picture, taken by Stephen Wright, has brought the club global recognition and a source of funding from fans of the group. To this day, fans from all over the world make a pilgrimage to the venue. It offers sport and other activities six days a week to more than 200 young people in one of the most deprived areas of the country. A unique archive contains the records of over 22,500 members since its opening in 1903 displayed on a remarkable five metre Wall of Names. In the north west, projects receiving grants as well as Salford Lads and Girls Club include the restoration of the upper seating areas at Morecambe Winter Gardens; and the conservation of the Grade II-listed pump house at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port. The fund operates alongside Historic England's existing Heritage at Risk programme, targeting sites requiring immediate action to prevent further deterioration. Louise Brennan, director of regions at Historic England said: "Thanks to the extra funding from the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund, we are able to breathe new life into neglected historic buildings in the north west that we haven't been able to help through our existing grant schemes. "This initiative will not only boost economic growth but also create amazing opportunities for people in some of the region's most disadvantaged areas. We're thrilled to support projects that harness the power of heritage to make a real difference where it's needed most."

John Cena-Priyanka Chopra's ‘Heads Of State' Among Prime Video's Top Films

Indian star Priyanka Chopra Jonas is elated that Amazon Prime Video's new original movie, Heads of State, is now the fourth most-watched film ever on the platform. A press release from Prime Video announced that the film garnered 75 million views worldwide. Directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry, Nobody), the film features Chopra along with John Cena and Idribs Elba in lead roles. The film released on July 2 and remained among the top most-viewed films worldwide on Prime Video for four weeks. Priyanka Chopra Jonas-John Cena-Idris Elba's Heads of State garners 75 million+ views In its debut week, Heads of State secured the fifth spot on Nielsen's Movie chart, clocking 1.098 billion minutes streamed in the USA. Lead actors John Cena and Priyanka Chopra Jonas expressed their gratitude towards the audience soon after the viewership announcement on social media. According to Flixpatrol, Heads of State was among the top ten most-viewed films worldwide for a month on Amazon Prime Video. Cena plays the US president, and Elba is the prime minister of the UK while Chopra is an MI6 agent in the film. The film is produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Heads of State also features Stephen Root, Paddy Considine, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid and Sarah Niles. The action comedy is streaming on Prime Video in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. In India, Heads of State was the fifth most-watched film online in its debut week, Ormax Media recorded 1.7 million views in India for the film in the week ending July 6. The next week, it doubled the Indian viewership and climbed to fourth spot on the list. In its third week, Heads of State slid back to fifth position on the list. Heads of State is an action fictional comedy that shows a US President and the UK Prime Minister who need to thwart a global conspiracy to save the world, and they must set aside their rivalry to do so. Their close ally in the mission is the brilliant MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Chopra). The president and the prime minister have a lot going on - the latter doesn't appreciate the fact that the former was elected as the head of his country because he was a huge Hollywood star. As heads of two countries majorly deciding the course of most global actions, they must be seen as allies. Despite their differences, they must appear to agree on important ideologies and steps. Both the actors offer a charming camaraderie in the process. They are playful and cheerful, yet authoritative. Chopra adds an interesting twist to the equation. She brings the agility and expertise of a secret agent while keeping it curtly passionate with her ex. The film is a fun-filled action ride which offers adrenaline-rush in the action sequences and lighthearted comedy in others. It also pushes political commentary with subtlety, making it possible for the audience to thoroughly enjoy the movie even if they are not aware of the politics. Earlier in July, Heads of State director Naishuller hinted at the possibility of having a sequel. In an interview with Screenrant, Naishuller said creating more of 'Jack and Marty' would be fun, if people enjoy the movie, and Amazon "feels like it makes sense to do a second one". The 2024 Christmas action comedy Red One ranks on top of the list of most-watched films worldwide on Prime Video ever. The film features Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in lead roles and is directed by Jake Kasdan. Ben Affleck-starrer The Accountant 2 is the second most-watched Amazon MGM movie on the platform, with 80 million global views. It was directed by Gavin O'Connor. The Tomorrow War ranks third on the list, right above Heads of State, Deadline reports.

Kate Middleton Stuns in Green Suit During Surprise Outing Amid Summer Vacation

Princess Kate Middleton put a brief pause on her summer break for a surprise outing at the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Kate, 43, stepped out in a stunning green pantsuit for the rare appearance, according to photos recently released by Kensington Palace. (The Princess of Wales' visit actually took place this past June.) The set from designer Veronica Beard retails at just under $1,000, with the blazer coming in at $489 (currently on sale) and the pants at $498. Kate kept her jacket buttoned with the sleeves pulled up during the royal outing. She was wearing a neutral top underneath the blazer, with just the collar peeking out. Kate Middleton's Tailored Suits Have Us in a Trance Her unannounced visit came as she and husband Prince William are keeping a lower profile amid the summer months. Kate met with members of the Centre for Early Childhood to discuss their newly released animated films, which highlight the importance of everyday moments that shape a child's life. Vicki Turner and Owen Gildersleeve, the film's illustrators, were also present. "Early childhood has been recognized as the golden opportunity to build strong foundations for future life health and happiness,' said in a statement on Tuesday, August 5, as the seven short films were released. "The new animated films from The Centre of Early Childhood showcase how adults can create nurturing, loving interactions with children, helping to foster social and emotional development during their earliest years.' She added, "These core social and emotional skills are essential in forming healthy relationships and are fundamental building blocks that can carry us through life.' Kate noted that she hopes the videos 'raise the awareness of, and celebrate, the extraordinary value of everyday moments of connection,' which are important in today's world. Princess Kate Is Sophisticated and Stylish in Classy Forest Green Suit "Early childhood offers a sacred opportunity to transform our societies for the better and by nurturing these skills in our babies and children, we will be raising a younger generation better equipped to face the future,' her statement concluded. Kate's outings have been few and far between this year as she slowly returns to her royal duties following a cancer battle last year. (Kate was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in February 2024 and announced this past January that she's in remission.) Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, explained that Kate's return to the public is happening 'on her own terms,' during a June interview with Hello! Magazine. 'Her priorities have changed, and she's listening to her body, instead of being a people pleaser,' Seward said. 'She's absolutely got to be strict with herself and say, 'No, I can't do this.''
