Rah-Veer scheme: MP announces Rs 25,000 reward for those helping accident victims
Bhopal/Indore: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a reward for individuals who assist in transporting road accident victims to the hospital.
The state cabinet also decided that those who help accident victims will not be questioned, Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya stated following the cabinet meeting.
The meeting was held at Rajwada, a historic site in Indore, to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of the revered ruler Ahilyabai.
'The individual will receive a financial reward of Rs 25,000 under the Rah-Veer scheme,' the minister said.
To qualify, the person must stop at the accident site, promptly call an ambulance, and actively assist in transporting the injured to medical care. This initiative was approved during the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav.
The minister also announced that the state cabinet has allocated Rs 773 crore to the Maharaja Yashwantrao Holkar Hospital.
'King Holkar established MY Hospital, but no significant upgrades were made to it afterwards. With an investment of Rs 773 crore, the hospital's facilities will be expanded to twice their current capacity. It will offer heart and liver surgeries, reducing the need for patients to travel to Delhi or Mumbai for treatment,' the minister said.
Additionally, Rs 321 crore has been allocated to Rewa District Hospital, providing a substantial healthcare boost for the poor and middle-class residents of Central India.
The cabinet meeting took place in the Ganesh Hall of Rajwada, Indore, with a statue of Ahilya Devi prominently positioned in front of the Chief Minister.
Seated to the right of the statue, the Chief Minister and other officials paid tribute to Goddess Ahilya with floral offerings before commencing discussions. Several ministers attended the meeting dressed in traditional dhoti-kurta attire, complemented by saffron scarves. However, Minister Vijay Shah, who has been at the centre of controversy due to his remarks regarding Colonel Sofia, was absent from the proceedings.

ICICI Bank and Tata Memorial Centre launch advanced cancer block treat 3,000 patients annually Chennai ICICI Bank will collaborate with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) to construct an eight-storied building at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Visakhapatnam to 'serve' 3,000 patients annually, said the lender on Thursday. The bank has committed more than Rs 550 crore for the building that will spread over 3.9 lakh square feet and have the latest in medical technology. ICICI Foundation Block for Child and Blood Cancer will serve 3,000 patients annually at HBCHRC, which has a capacity of 6,200 patients. Designed as one of the largest specialised cancer facilities in India, the new building will house over 215 beds. It is expected to be completed by 2027, subject to necessary approvals. ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the CSR arm of ICICI Bank, will oversee its implementation. The foundation stone was unveiled by Pradeep Kumar Sinha, chairman of ICICI Bank. Sandeep Batra, executive director of ICICI Bank, and Sudeep Gupta, director of Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, attended the event. 'We are honoured to partner with TMC in a mission towards cancer care, that aligns with our philosophy of strengthening critical health care infrastructure in the country. 3.45 lakh health cards issued under central schemes: Delhi minister
New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Wednesday said over 3.45 lakh health cards have been issued under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana till date. Of these, 1,66,841 cards have been distributed exclusively under the Vay Vandana Yojana (VVY) -- an initiative aimed at ensuring dignified and secure aging for Delhi's senior citizens, an official statement said. As per data, 1,24,215 cards were issued by self-registrations, 11,284 by BIS operators, and 42,176 through Common Service Centres (CSCs), it said. "The prompt issuance of over 3.45 lakh cards is a testament to the Delhi government's efficient implementation and the people's trust in our healthcare initiatives. We are committed to upholding the dignity and well-being of every senior citizen in the capital," Singh said. As part of the government's expanded healthcare infrastructure, 85 hospitals have been empanelled under the schemes -- 60 private and 25 government-run facilities, allowing beneficiaries to access quality care across both sectors. These cards offer up to Rs 10 lakh in cashless hospitalisation benefits , not just within Delhi but also across empanelled hospitals nationwide. The construction of 1,139 Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs across Delhi is in full swing. The plan is to equip each of Delhi's 70 assembly constituencies with Aarogya Mandirs, bringing healthcare closer to the people. "This very month, over 30 new Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs will be dedicated to the people of Delhi," he added. Every Delhi resident above 70 years, possessing an Aadhaar card, is eligible for registration under Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana.

Two die, one in critical condition after a gas leak at Pharma City, Parawada
Anakapalli: In a tragic accident that took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharmacy, Parawada in Anakapalli, two died and one is said to be in critical condition following a gas leak at Sai Sreyas Pharmaceuticals Private Limited. At the time of incident three employees became unconscious after inhaling the gas. The deceased were identified as Parimi Chandrasekhar, safety manager from Telangana, and Saragadam Kumar, safety officer from Munagapaka. Meanwhile, another worker Baidu Baisal, a helper from Odisha, is undergoing treatment in the hospital. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to King George Hospital mortuary. Meanwhile, trade union leaders alleged that the management failed in following safety standards and demanded a compensation of Rs.1 crore for the families of the deceased. (eom)
